Great vid! I really want to get into shifter kart racing, but have no clue where to begin. Can you give any advice where to start for basic information, and where to look for karts?
Thanks Aleksandar and great to see you're interested in getting in. Let me know where you are in the country as I might be able to steer you in a direction that might be close to you to find out some more. As for getting started with basic information, I would recommend checking out ekartingnews.com. There are some forums on there that are very helpful and help to get you up to speed on things. There are also some classified sections where you might be able to check out if anyone is selling in your area. Again, let me know where you're located and I'll see if I can find races or clubs in your area that might help to get you started.
Wow, thanks for getting back to me so quick. Im in the chicagoland area. Nearest place for me I think is road america, but their website doesnt provide any info except basic schedules and prices. Ill check out ekarting too.
Ok, up in that area, check out the Championship Enduro Series. The website is: www.championshipenduro.com/ and they are on FB as well. I would reach out to the club on the contact page as I know there are some shops up in that area and I would highly recommend getting to a race to check things out (many times, you can ask around and find someone who might be selling their kart). I've not raced with CES but I've been to Mid-Ohio and its an absolute BLAST to drive in a shifter. I think they draw in the neighborhood of 30-40 shifters for that race. For now, I know Blackhawk farms might be the closest at this point. Good luck in your search and don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions. It's an expensive hobby but bang for your buck, it just can't be beat!
I live in Sheboygan and sometimes watch the races there also big fan
