We bought a villa just outside Sao Martinho just before COVID hit and from our perspective its been a great decision but you need to do your homework. The climate is cooler and more variable than Lisbon and the Algarve, the summer rental season is shorter and most of the areas mentioned in this video are fairly quiet and very traditional (outside of peak summer). If you're looking for a past paced and really vibrant location then most of the silver coast is probably not for you. However, it's perfect if you want low density population, no traffic jams, temperatures that don't fry you and good value property along with a relaxed and laid back lifestyle then it's definitely worth considering. Obviously it's busy in the peak summer months but the rest of the year is very relaxed.
