Hi everyone! Let me know what you think about this discussion - do you think AI software will replace rendering software?

In architecture school, I had a critic who said, "I have friends who say they're building a condominium, or that they are building a house in the Hamptons, or that they are building an office tower in Manhattan - I don't know which end of a hammer to hold! We don't build - we COMMUNICATE."
    AI is a tool.
It can't (and won't be able to) design, any more than a hammer can build. It has the potential to be a pneumatic nail gun to a hammer BUT, it has the potential to be a nail gun that the client can use along with us to arrive at a design faster and hopefully better.

I don't think it's a stretch to see that since we can have AI learn things like actual languages in LLMs that we can't also have it learn blueprints and code and geometry and hence output 3d models and in a smart way. Adding textures and materials after the fact is simply an extension of it creating images now but in the specific use case of those textures for 3d materials so I suspect that someone focused on creating AI for the archviz or architecture industry is going to have success. Currently, it's likely just not seen as important as advancing AI in other places first.

My show design work - pitch & development- is 90% modelling & experience & 10% render .. But I do have AI concerns - I charge for pitch designs & my clients don’t want to carry pitch costs - so AI shortcuts will be interesting to THEM - they will be the ones taking advantage of its short-comings because it’s cheap for concepts

На данный момент полезный ИИ в нашей работе я вижу для создания текстур. Очень много времени уходит на их поиск либо создание.
At this time, I see useful AI in our work for creating textures. It takes a lot of time to find or create them.

    YES & NO.
YES for ealier project concept process.
NO for Accuracy, detailing & Construction Build Up Process.

It wont ever get to a point where it can make very miniscule changes to a design/render. What you will eventually have, is AI assisted software, which will require learning and teaching just like any other rendering/design software. It would basically end up being Twinmotion, with photo realistic renderings and allowing you to make changes to furniture, materials, lighting etc.

So, you think someone won't create an AI that can take a banything from a basic sketchup form to a full BIM model, marked up with basic colours..that can't then render that exactly as its intended to be? I bet that will take about 12 months max.

In my opinion, each software has its good points, but the most important thing is rendering time, according to user needs

I'm not sure how this relates to the topic of the video unless you're thinking that AI rendering would somehow be faster?

Visualisation is an artist skill. AI will only produce a generic result. I'm not a fan of AI as I think it's going to take decisions away from us as people.
