The Matador BetaLock’s keys may not be unique, but we like that its locking feature provides security and ensures accessories don’t just randomly fall off.

Looks like a good idea, if somewhat limited as anyone can either attack the fabric or just open the pack.
Where I can see it being worthy is if you’re at a tennis court or similar, and want to hang/lock your bag to keep it secure on fence or whatever. Couple it with a battery operated motion alarm device that alerts via Bluetooth (to your phone or Apple Watch on you), could give you just enough time (provided you just have your back turned or whatever).

(any other use case will likely just end up with you finding the bag gone through, or handle cut and your fancy carabiner lock still hanging there)

Interesting item, not something I would use personally but cool either way.

Does this size allow you to use it on lockers as well?

As much as I love Matador, I am probably not going to find much use in this. What about the cable that they sell desperate? My only possible use might be locking my bag to a table or tree on the beach. It looks a little too big to fit in a lot of gym or hostel lockers. I might just continue carrying my old master lock and maybe try the sleek cable that Matador also came out with.

It is also worth to mention imo that it is TSA approved. And it can be unlocked very easy with a nail file, wich is very bad! So it is just a distraction 😢

It would keep the casual thief at bay for a few moments; hopefully you wouldn’t be far from bag. This slight delay might give you enough time; especially if coupled with a motion alarm dongle in bag that messages your phone/watch if movement is detected.

Of course it's easily picked? It's a tiny lock on a carabineer. It's about buying you time.
A few seconds may be the difference between you losing something and noticing a thief.

I was hyped at first, the idea of having the ability to lock it.
But when u said the keys are all the same I started laughing. I'm not impressed. Love matador in general but I would rather use night-ize S-biner with slidelock or microlock. I would never leave my bag. Maybe a good idea if u want to leave ur bike helmet but I have a locker to my bike that I use for that.

"1 month of use" lol liar. What would you even do with this on 4 weeks

Are u new here!? Seems like this is the first time ur watching their reviews.
Of course u have to use it for a couple of weeks to figure out how durable it is and also to see if it's easy to use. If u find something that's hyped up bc of reviews, u buy it and use it daily for a couple of weeks u would get a feeling if u like it or not. It's hard to decide if it's not a routine. For some ppl it might be easier to decide after just trying it for a day or two. But packhacker is made to give reviews of the things they have used daily for at least a couple of weeks to give it a chance. So that we can avoid buying unnessesary stuff that might break easily.

And what exactly are you securing with this lock since it appears that it is made to attach to nylon straps or handles. One yank and bye, bye strap and lock. What useless garbage.

Theres actually no use case for this lol. They make real caribeaners that are climb rated for 30 dollars. And they have a twist collar that prevents accidental opening. This obviously doesnt prevent theft. I dont understand the backpackers fascinstion with low end caribeaners. You realize real ones exist, right?

    • @Urbanjeffery
      @Urbanjeffery 8 месяцев назад +3

The purpose of it isn't to prevent theft. It's to slow someone down.
Most people don't know how to pick a lock. Anyone can unscrew something 😂
