dang, I’m really grateful for you making this video, as a 33 year old dude, I never thought I would be into lighting this much, but since starting to work from home, you realize how important light is around the house (I do night shifts) and is just really important for mood and productivity. Thank you for this video!
had to watch this video twice. Once for the vibes, the second time with my notepad! Our new home gets so dark and gloomy in the winter so I'm looking forward to adding more cozy lighting into the space.
Great insight that is simple and to the point! Really enjoyed this more in-depth but quick dive into lighting and your particular lighting info and inspo. Thanks for sharing cause I really needed this!
This is my kinda jam. I hate white light. Im moving into my new house and im so excited and buying these small lamps. Thanks for the video very very helpful
Of all the elements of decor, for me lighting is the most important. The old fashioned way, there’s something very calming about waking around and turning your lamps on and off. Not all need to be on all the time. That gadget of on and off is good for when you are sick or people with motor difficulties.
Found your channel few weeks ago and I’m so happy for that.. I lovee lovee loveee your videos.I feel so excited every time you upload ever since i found ur channel. Your videos are so relaxing and pleasing. Well done. Proud of you. Take love ❤️
I really appreciate your knowledge on interior design. This was an enjoyable video and I learnt a few things that I’ll definitely be keeping in mind when designing my own space. I didn’t even know they had smart plugs along with smart light bulbs so that was a big plus for me to know. I really love the examples you’ve shown of the different style of lamps and the brands you’ve recommended. Your home is beautifully lit and decorated. ❤😊 Thank you. 🙏🏾
Warm white is my favorite colour light, but sometimes I put colourful lights when I want some good party vibes.

such a good video, would love to see more informational videos! this could be such a nice series!! A Guide to Plants, to Furniture, to Rug Placement, to Color etc etc 🤩
If you want a nice soft WARM glow from your lamps and lighting, my best tip is to buy coloured shades like orange or yellow that light can pass through made of silk, paper or nylon etc. LED strips are great too and can be put anywhere, most will allow you to change colour and even set slow pulsing glow if you want. There's a lot of white light in this, although not bad in certain areas can be sore on the eyes when you look in their direction.
I live in a relatively small space (1040sf) and I enjoy the nightly ritual of walking around my house turning on various lamps and enjoying the glow and highlights these lamps cast on various objects. If I'm going to be away, I always make sure to turn on some lights so my home looks occupied and I'm welcomed by the soft glow of various lamps when I return. Edit: Lighting is addictive. I buy lamps at thrift shops where I get things like a $450 West Elm lamp for $5 or a solid brass lamp that I bought at the dump in Hawaii for $1. I like quirky, so I'm especially drawn to things like small lamps in the shape of an elephant or with a sea urchin shade. I also have a collection of 3'-4' tall candle holders that hold LED candles. The flickering of the "flames" makes me feel like I'm living in another era.
Great video. First time here and I might stay. I loved every lamp and own a few myself. Your collection is stunning. I might go buy the Vp9 tomorrow but I honestly need a Floor lamp more for my reading area
This video is so helpful! Thank you! I especially like that you organized it into different price categories, and used so many visual examples. I'd love your opinions on good Amazon budget-friendly lamps. I still don't know how easeful and affordable and renter-friendly dimmers can be or not so I'll need to research it - or that'd be a great video - that and smart bulbs 101.
Thank you for the information on warm lighting ranges and where to buy some of the these lamps. Can you speak on the recommended wattage? Specifically looking at lamps in the bedroom for reading?
Not exactly related to lighting, but where do you recommend to buy plants, and what types are the easiest to take care of? Also love this style of video and would love to see more content like it!
A good budget friendly option would be to find online/Facebook groups for plant swaps in your area - some people would be more than willing to offer cuttings for free or at a reasonable cost :)
A bunch of places! Some from Costco, a lot from IKEA, some from local nurseries -- pothos plants, money trees, monsteras are all pretty easy to take care of :)
love this specific video! Can you share a guide to your light bulbs? I saw yu recommending the amazon basic bulbs - can you create a video how the interface on the phone looks like or how to remotely set them on and off
A good one. Next topic idea, of this type of video, furniture brands. Feel like the quality of mid-range brands (not DWR and not IKEA) are very hard to judge.
I think you missed out on bulbs with good color rendering index (CRI). Better CRI means better lighting and more natural looking skintone that can greatly affect how your space looks. Some good high CRI bulbs include Philips Ultradefinition and Waveform Lighting
It's a good idea to worry about it in places you're putting on makeup and are checking your outfit looks good, and also when cooking but otherwise most people will never need to ever worry about CRI. It's not a universal measurement across the spectrum of colours bulbs display either, most people aren't going to set their bulbs to the correct colour temperature to get the most accurate CRI to begin with
I think the best lamps are old school very plain minimalist lamps with wooden legs. For small spaces the more minimal and basic the lamp is the more beautiful your space will look.
Greetings Eric. Thanks for this. Can you provide a word of advice on how to remedy a touch lamp that doesn't respond to the touch as easily as it did when it was new? Sometimes it's downright difficult and I have two of them. Apart from this they're ideal for my needs and have many levels and shades of light along with great flexibility as to height, orientation and angle.
Hey Eric! I was curious if you are familiar with the brand Kuzco! I was just at a lighting store and learned so much about how the type of light you have in your home can affect your mental health in many different ways and got attached to the design of Kuzco and did some research online and loved a lot of what I found! Curious what you think on the brand
Does the color of walls influence the color of light? Like how does a 2700 lumen warm white light look in a white room vs one with say cream colored room
Yes, you may want to compensate depending on your preferences. If you can, an adjustable color temperature source will help. The difference, if I has to guess, 500-750 kelvin.
My room is larger and I need a little bright light in warm light I feel very lazy which type of lamp you would recommend? And to spread the light widely should I take upward face lamp or downwards? Thank you!
How do you get those rise wall lamp in your bedroom to work in US outlet. Seems like they are EU plugs, would love to purchase some but wanted to be prepared.
Do I need both the smart bulb and smart plug to control lighting with an app? Also, what is the name of the unit that measures the warmth/coldness of a bulb? Thank you.
any idea which brand yields the best possible result for warm lights, considering with budgeted purchase, the product itself has the best off-white material that Noguchi uses?
Panthella floor lamp designed by Verner Panton about $1k but there’s some cheaper versions. Google search by image is a game changer definitely check it out
glad you think so! you only need a smart bulb for most lamps -- the smart plugs are only used for lamps that use non-standard bulbs so a smart bulb would not fit
@@imericwang How do you use a smart plug or smart Plug on the setago JH27?? I bought the lamp, because I thought it looks so cool but now it has a G4 socket and I dont know how to connect it to my smart home :(( Please help!!

one of the best videos youve put out so far. love the new format eric and i cant wait for more 😌
ahh thank you!
This was so helpful. Last autumn, I realized I needed a lamp in the living room. I now have five in there. It's addictive.

Excellent content, great video. Love your comments and knowledge.
Budget..go thrift , layer your lighting, use warm light. Also, use the same bulb in each room. This is often overlooked.
My favorite lightning tip video by far.
White light is so scary
the scariest
eek!!!!
Truly. 😂
I have friends that chose 5000k because they thought they were nice “daylight” per the box. House looks like a hospital/clinic waiting room 😂
Some people swesr by it but I agree. It doesn't make me feel at home as warm lights. Colder lights are brighter thaner warmer lights at same lumens.
