My sister and her husband lived at the base of Mt. Cranmore and we went to this every year. It was such a great event. I can not believe I stumbled upon this video. It brought back such great memories of the tournament and of the town.
I went to Volvo Tennis Tournament in North Conway, NH just two days before giving birth to my daughter! Remember going one year when it rained and sat in the stands with a large garbage bag with cut outs for my arms and head, waiting for play to resume. Surely wish the nearest pro-tennis mates were still there-only 10 miles from where I live!
The Blue Metal Slazenger Orantes is using is the Holy Grail of 70's tennis racket collections. I found one a few years ago. there was a similar silver model that Stove used which was much heavier.
Back when tennis was fun, the sport had very individual personalities who were not packaged and marketed and sounded like progammed robots and the sport was about skill and less about power
man, I loved playing tennis when you actually had to employ strategy / thought to win, whereas today, any young buck with a 90 plus frame and extreme forehand grip can blow you off the court by simply mindlessly pounding the ball.
Sorry but 70's tennis was the Golden Age. Laver, Rosewall, Newcombe, Connors, Borg, Vilas, Geruliatis, Nastase, McEnroe. The equipment now ruined the game. No more serve and volley because of the equipment? Such a disgrace!@@MMM18092

Ideal time to live in America!! Before Tie Rantz came to power.

Almost right...best players still use strategy and variety + POWER
+brain barsher Almost right. In actual fact, not even the very top guys (apart from Federer, of course) have much variety today.
If you prefer this to Nadal/Murray/Djokovic/Federer/Wawrinka/Del Potro, I recommend a visit to the nearest tennis psychiatric clinic.
