How do you just give someone a 730 acre estate? And how do they afford the taxes and maintenance?
It was given as a wedding gift to Princess Anne and her first husband Captain Mark Phillips. They were both successful event rider though Mark Phillips was probably more successful. He was a member of two gold winning teams at the Olympics. his son Peter now runs the event but they hold one of the leading one day events on Britain every summer at Gatcombe and I think they have other events there. Mark also had a job as trainer of the US three day event team for quite a few years. I think Anne breeds cattle there and she does breed a racehorse or two. I hope I have helped.

@@lemondropkid6175 Do you know about the Crown estates? it is owned by the monarch "in the right of the crown". It means the monarch "owns" the estate during their reign. It is not their private property and they do not manage it or make decisions. Profit from crown estates is delivered to the government who the decide how much is given back as the Sovereign Grant. That is about 15 -20%.Its aim is to raise money for the country. Maybe that might explain why they don't pay death duties because they don't own the land.

Nice home, happy wealthy big family, but breeding dogs Is the most unnecessary thing. Even cruel towards so many abandoned stray dogs. Law obligates us who shelter dogs and cats, even if it's a very expensive and sometimes impossible to take care for so many stray animals, to neuter them, and on the other side people breed different races and sell them,, which is even more cruel. And not to mention. how beautiful mixed race animals are. The cutest creatures on this planet (beside the children). We evolved enough to have that much common sense end empathy to be aware that we shouldn't breed, but adopt animals. Especially mixed race ones.
