I'm not convinced that 4043 stick isn't a big joke that lincoln electric started playing on the entire welding industry 100 yrs ago.

If the workpiece isn't kept hot enough, the flux solidifies over the weld pool, killing the ark, stone dead. To have any success with this type of rod, i've had to keep the blowtorch flame playing on the workpiece while welding i.e. holding the blowtorch in my left hand and the electrode holder in my right.

Peter Zila has a great video on stick welding 4043 but he uses pulse on an HTP Rig to reduce the heat buildup and rod consumption. It was a pretty impressive video.

    Bob.
I tried that back in 1980 in an open pit mine in Arizona. The flux is like watching milk paste boil. It was full of porosity….
I’m sure the science has come light years since then… but that’s why I got a portable mig rig. .
I’d like to see a cut and etch after you get done… just to see if and how they keep the bullet holes out of it.

So you watch a video about welding and infer with zero evidence that the person in the video is an alcoholic.... Dude seriously what is wrong with you? Did you have a bad day? Are you going thru marital issues? Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed? Do you even know Bob, on a personal level, that would enable you to make such assertions? All your post did was make you look petty and immature. If you truly cared about Bob and you knew he was having issues; why would you post that shit in an open air fashion on RUclips?
