    Vik you are a great communicator. Your content has given me such a great frame of reference when viewing various procedures. I found it hard to locate landmarks and orient myself to the anatomy.

    Fantastic video, superb explanations. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise, it is very much appreciated.
    Should you have the time to make the more detailed video you referred to near the end of this film I'm sure many, myself included, would benefit from and be grateful for your efforts!
    Love the channel, keep up the excellent work! 👍

      It gets quite technical - i need to think of a way to explain it. Perhaps i'll make the effort - thank you!

    Hi Vik,
    Thanks for this. Was initially meant to see you in July but the appointment got cancelled before the day, and I was given a replacement slot in November, which has now also been cancelled, both not from my end. Getting desperate to see you hence my messaging here. Any way you can help? These were both through private insurance
    Many thanks

    Hi Vik , just got a call from the London ENT hospital doing all their best to prevent me from getting any kind of appointment with you, telling me that your waiting list is 2 years long and that if I wanted an appointment with you I should see you privately,
    Aleady been waiting 18 months to get to see you on the NHS , they also told me that the operation expansion sphincter pharyngoplasty always fails after 2 years ,
    Really interested to hear your views on the situation.

      Sounds like 'internal politics' which is a shame. Some of the doctors are upset with people wanting to see me rather than them. I have been told that my waiting list to see people is less than 9 months, not sure why you have to wait a long time. ESP (which I don't do as often now - there is a less painful version now), has good evidence for long-term efficacy - I know the guy who invented it and he has published loads on the subject with international good long term results for the people who know how to do the operation well. I have my own database of patients with all my outcomes on it - My personal results of just over 69 month follow up is about a 68% reduction in AHI just with that operation alone (almost 400 patients in that cohort). I am sorry people are trying to mess you around. perhaps see them and then ask for a referral back to me as that is their way of getting the waiting list down? if you meet the guidelines for my treatment then they are allowed to book directly into my theatres for a DISE etc. sorry again.

    Very imformative video Vik, how long that does op normally take to do? My 2nd MRSA screening came back clear, so tried to book another appointment with you for my inferior turbinate reduction-but got told you been ill so they are not taking any appointments at the mo-but will be in touch with me when an appointment is available.
    How are you feeling now??

    • @VikVeerENTSurgeon
      @VikVeerENTSurgeon  2 месяца назад +1

      Feeling fine now - but taking it easy and I want to make sure that my patients are safe so I am not pushing myself too hard. I'm back to work now for the last fortnight. The operation can take up to 4 hours - but generally 90 minutes for a canal wall up. canal wall down is much much easier, but i only do that for very few people (those who cannot tolerate a second operation - or those who do not have long to live - those with an automastoidectomy etc). On the NHS I need to train juniors so the operation is longer as I need to explain each step and the rational for each one.

    I believe I had some infectious fluid removed from my mastoid cavity with syringe/suction during another ear procedure.

    Hello! Are there any complex surgeries in the ENT field? Is it good specialty for someone who wants to operate but not as much as neurosurgeons for example? Also are the more complex surgeries in ENT really like microsurgeries since working on such little places? Please tell me more about types and level of complexity in ENT surgeries. ❤❤❤

    • @VikVeerENTSurgeon
      @VikVeerENTSurgeon  2 месяца назад +1

      there are more different operations in ENT than all the other surgical specialities combined. we do cosmetic, microsurgery, large operations when reconstructing the neck, use lasers, work with kids and elderly. I've done cardiothoracics and neurosurgery and found them quite boring after 6 months. I quite liked general surgery but got bored of that as well. I don't remember an operation outside ENT that was more complex than what I do in otology or skull base or head and neck, but then that's just my opinion. probably each surgeon will say that their speciality is the best so you should just try it for 6 months and see if you liked it. if not move on and try something else. that's what we all did. good luck!

      @@VikVeerENTSurgeon Thank you very much for the answer!!! You are very informative and kind! Am sure you are a great doctor too! I just have one last question if that’s okay. How long are the more complex surgeries you do? Or like what is the longest surgery you ever did as an ENT surgeon? It’s just I’m looking for the specialty that does surgeries and even if they might be complex just not to be really long! So how long are the ones you do, sir? 🤩

    • @VikVeerENTSurgeon
      @VikVeerENTSurgeon  2 месяца назад +1

      I would choose a subspeciality in ENT that has short operations if that is what you want. most of my sleep surgery work is about an hour long. my otology stuff on the other hand can be several hours long. when i was an ENT cancer surgeon I did operations that had a team of people working for 12 hours. most operations are less than 10 minutes for the bread and butter simple stuff.

      @@VikVeerENTSurgeon Omg sounds cool and 12 hours cancer surgeries sounds soo complex!!! Why “was”? You don’t do any surgeries of cancer kind cause they exhaust you too much and you want some time for family maybe or? From what I’ve heard in ENT these cancer operations are the most complex. You seem very experienced in surgery! ❤️

      He has a very long waiting list but he def knows what he is doing as you know so is very worth it-just book it through him and wait-I'm seeing him via NHS + I'm from Kent!
