    Im a current crown employee. Been there nearly 2 decades. Ive had the good fortune to work at alot of different places over the years, and i can say without a doubt, crown treats their people WELL above avg. This isnt a tornado or fire, etc etc. Which historically, in those instances, crown has pulled through for their employees every time. This is different. This is cyber security. And most likely the FBI is involved. And if they are involved, crowns hands are likely tied, as to what they can and cannot say to the employees in the immediate. Im sure its sop. I was just there to ask questions in person yesterday. And they are actively rebuilding the system.

    I work for Crown in NZ. First off Crown takes cybersecurity very seriously. I’ve only been work for Crown since October last year and had a cybersecurity module when I first started and then again in February or March. Our emails are also well protected. With passwords and messages when receiving emails outside of the organization saying “email originated outside of company are you sure you want to open” as far as work. It’s business as usual. No time off or holidays. If you need paper parts diagrams, wiring diagrams or manuals (PSRT) my manager has been very helpful with supplying me with the necessary tools to do my job. As a field technician it’s quite a lonely job. Most of the time working by yourself, this event that has happened I feel it’s been good, as I find myself talking to other employees that I wouldn’t normally talk to if everything was working. Everyone working at Crown knows it’s a difficult time. That being said Crown is a team and in my experience there is always someone there to help you.

    • @XactCyber
      @XactCyber  11 дней назад +2

      Thanks for the insight. What you described as your cyber security protections barely scratch what is needed. Your cyber awareness program is not up to par. Yes, you're doing something, but from my perspective, it's not even the bare minimum for a multi-billion dollar firm. We manage cybersecurity for companies with under $1M in revenue, and they have better cybersecurity than what we know Crown has based on what their employees have shared online. I hope this gives you some perspective. I do wish Crown the best, but all of this information spilling onto the Internet is not a recipe for success either. It's clear Crown management, and IT are drinking from the fire hose and learning what will be needed from a cyber protection standpoint as they navigate this cyber attack recovery. Unfortunately, learning how to do cyber security properly due to a breach is the worst way to know all this. Conversely, the company will see what real cyber security looks like once the storm passes.

    I’ve been with crown for 3 years. Never have I ever been a part of a company who basically tells us to keep quiet about something that affect the entire company. Then, they tell us we aren’t getting paid for the time we are off. Then, we get told we can take unemployment while still being employed by them. Then the icing on the cake for me, they just called us today and explained that “crown was the victim of an international cyberattack.” WE ALREADY KNEW THAT. We don’t want to know what we know, we want paid for something that was out of our control. On the bright side, around the area, there are businesses that are giving crown employees discounts during this time, and that’s all fine and dandy, but some (if not most) of us, live paycheck to paycheck, so we can’t even take advantage of discounts like those. We as employees appreciate the efforts from these local businesses, but we don’t want discounts, WE WANT PAID!!!

      @@XactCyber Too true, I've spent my my whole life in the forklift industry and to describe it as 'backward' is an understatement.
      I left a comment on your podcast video as well, but we had another massive cyber attack last year on a company called TVH who is headquartered in Belgium who are about the world's only supplier of aftermarket forklift parts, it caused chaos for months and TVH was loosing something in the region of several million euros a day.
      And still, our industry hasn't learnt.

Service dollars always keep the lights on when the plants are down, or the economy is bad, or strange viruses slow things down, its really a smart way to structure a business. The dickie’s dont build forklifts to sell them, they build forklifts so we can service them for the next 15 years and make quadruple the amount of money made from one sale.

But I’ve heard from multiple people that we may be out until after the Fourth of July! I’ve been working since I was 16, and I’ve had a lot of jobs and I’ve seen a lot of shady stuff from companies, but what Crown is doing right now is the worst thing I’ve seen an employer do.

      Honestly Crown is like a clown show just like most employers. They have their propaganda just like some "supposedly employed" Crown employees who commented on this video... but they are not who they pretend to be. They are paying us, but they are claiming it as an advance that will be reconciled later. So eventually they will screw us on a paycheck to make up for it. I think the only reason they paid us a duplicate check is because they are desperate to retain their work force. Crown has trouble keeping new employees because the work actually sucks and younger generation doesn't want to do the work we do.

Crown is doing everything in its power to make sure their employees are taken care of and most have jumped the gun with their comments. Also you sir could be doing more harm to these companies than good. You are on the outside looking in and making assumptions. Yes all should be taken with a grain of salt, but it’s very off putting when someone makes the assumptions you made.
