Unverzeihlich das ich nicht mit war:-( episch episch!
Great video. Just a question. I saw that going in one direction you had your front hand on the boom palm up and in the other direction palm down. I have noticed that all good windsurfers have their front hand, except when gybing, palm up. Why is that? Does it give more control or is it just to rest the hand. I usually have my front hand palm down. Palm up feels a bit weird to me, probably because I am not used to it.
For blasting, palm up or palm down doesnt really matter. Do what feels best and mix it up a bit.
With palm up, there is a tendency to grip a little tighter on the boom (to prevent hand slipping down), palm down promotes a relaxed grip.
Palm up opens op the shoulder slightly more to the outside, I like this on bigger sails and my wide board on flat water.
In strong wonds and choppy water (or waves) and small kit I usually sail palm down. But I do switch from time to time.
@@rcggijzen Thanks for the answer.
@@arnold1964able I find that holding my palm up is usually more comfortable for long-distance surfing as it allows me to utilize my biceps more effectively. With palm down I have a better grip in wave conditions. Give it a try and see what feels better.
@@stevethewindsurfer8911 That makes sense. I'll try it more to get used to it.
I usually prefer palm up on the front hand in order to more easily push with the front hand if I need to, plus it just varies up the muscles used so you get less tired. In heavy chop it almost seems like I have to have my palm up.
Do the competitors get a kind of tracker / chip to make sure nobody is cheating taking shortcuts?
Great footage! They need to put up a temporary bridge to allow people easier access to the beach.
No, they shouldn't take away all the little things that are part of the adventure, the experience.
There is a floaty bridge the rig between the shores sometimes. I guess they need to keep the channel open for boards to acces open water. There is a harbour inland as well. The swim is actually not so a big deal after the first time. Part of the experience.
What if I actually "race" with a freeride or freewave board at the Defi? I mean is every participant a full blasting slalom surfer. I don't wanna compete I just want to be part of it. Well... and maybe not be last 😅
I think you can use any board type you want.
Rocketman!
Fantastic mate thankyou
Epic!

Nice footage, a pity that there was this year no real race due to the bad conditions 😢
