Just what I needed thanks a bunch. I picked up a 288 off the ebay and the rubber pump is toast so I'm gonna upgrade it to the leather one.

Hi Robert, I am having a job finding a NRV for my Coleman duel mantle, duel fuel 285 lantern, any ideas?? can't get any over here this side of the pond.

NRV? Are you talking about the check valve? I may have an extra I can send you. Most likely you can boil it about twenty minutes in vinegar and shoot some carburetor cleaner through it and it's good as new. I haven't seen one yet that couldn't be cleaned.

Could you please do a video on replacing/rebuilding the pump assembly on a 2 burner coleman stove? I have a 421-e that needs attention. It won't build pressure in the tank. The plunger works but alot of resistance on the pressure stroke. I cleaned the check valve. Not sure what the problem is.

Not much experience with the stove tank but have read articles on the lantern with the same problem.
Sounds like the snorkel tube may be stopped up. They make a special tool for the this but have never had this problem yet and haven't had need for the tool.
      It's a simple process.
Just put the tool in the pump housing and tap it with a hammer.
It must work by compressing air through the snorkel while you tap it with the hammer.
You could probably do the same with an air compressor.
I could make a video showing how I would try it but without having one that is stopped up it would just be a guessing game.

Hello again, on my 220j I dont see either that clip that holds the leather/ rubber cap or the square clip that unscrews, mine is a circle. How does it come off? I also played with the rubber cap flaring it out a bit and it seems to pump temporarily but soon returns to no pressure.

Like I said trash the rubber.
The round clip come off by prying from one side to another until it pops off. Jus mash it back in place to reinstall.
      God bless.

I have 1963 Thermos Military that I can not get to burn clean. I have cleaned everything, fresh gas, etc . Ideas?

Could be the generator. You never know what someone in the past has tried to burn in it.
You can replace it or try to clean it.
I have soaked them in acetone overnight to dissolve the gum and blow compressed air through it. Then spray carburetor cleaner in it and repeat with the compressed air.
      Hope this helps.
      God bless

Great video, I have a 220j just picked up and it has a rubber cap. I cleaned it all up and the inside tube but it just does not fit tight when installing back into the tube. Is there a fix using the rubber or should I try your leather cap? I picked up 2 lanterns and the other is a clx and I cleaned up that rubber and it works fine. That rubber looks the same condition as the 220j. Ty in advance

The rubber older pump cup will not look any different than a new one.
If the other is working now it has probably been replaced and it will eventually quit sealing.
I would definitely trash them both and replace them with leather.
Just add a little neatsfoot oil as needed for years of service.
Thanks for watching and God bless.

I've been trying to find some leather to use to make my own pump cups and saw your video on how you do it but for the life of me I can't find suitable leather. Any idea what I should be searching on? The type of leather you used, what's it called?

The leather I used was given to me by a friend but I think he picked it up at Tandy leather.
It's a little thicker than what Coleman used but still works.
Thanks for watching and God bless.
