Thank's for that David. I have been experiencing problems with a RP RSDE1 dust extractor. For a couple of years now it was causing the RCD plug in the kitchen to trip. So I reset that and away it went. However, yesterday it was cutting out and tripping the circuit breaker in the house. This device is 15 years old (approx) So I took it to bits, gave it a dust out. I noticed something rattling about inside the housing assembly and found the cable run flapping about. The suppressor capacitor, although it was still connected had fallen out of a little holder. I assumed this was where it was meant to go and stuck it into the tubular holder. I assembled it and connected it to a band saw and it's working fine now. EH ? Best regards.
John, I have the same model as you, I did do a miner repair on a loose wire, that was flapping about and causing the workshop to whole house to trip. I got it to work a treat for a few months, then this morning..mine literally blew up...it sparked 💥made a fair size bang and tripped the workshop!!! I’m not sure I can fix it! Any advice would be great!!
@@gailpengelly8581 Hi Gail. Sounds like a short circuit. I'd strip it and look for any blackness / signs of burn damage. Remember to disconnect the power supply first! Did you clean/change the filters? Not being able to see the machine, I'm afraid I can't be much help. Let me know what you find. Best regards.
@@johnmitchell1614 MANY THANKS FOR YOUR HELP John, I will certainly do that...you never know...I’d be so happy if t could b fixed!! It sounds REALLY high pitched too...before it blew up!! Keep you and yours safe and well. Xx
@@gailpengelly8581 Hi Gail. A high pitched sound? Could the inlet hose be choked with some big shavings? I tried to use mine yonks ago thinking I could use it as a big vacuum cleaner, but the hose blocked up with long shavings. Remember it's a dust extractor. Best wishes.
