@@kitandkrysta I think Black Myth Wukong takes the spotlight for me. I haven’t played it but from videos the game’s visuals look astonishing and gameplay seems very fluid and exciting. I really liked it and hope to play it some time.
And the best Game RUclipsrs of the year goes to you two! So happy to see you both doing videos together on RUclips far longer than a minute! And remember views/money is great but the true treasure is the time you get to spend together making those videos and all the new memories and this time you own all your hard work!
It was such an incredible honor to develop the Krysta’s Big Decision game this year and I’m STILL reeling from how cool it was. That alone made my whole 2024. Better yet, I’m glad I had the opportunity to chat with you both so much!
Unicorn Overlord is absolutely my GOTY!! The art style and soundtrack is amazing, and the gameplay revives such a unique spin in strategy gaming. It feels like such a well polished gem all the way through, and I found myself saying “just one more level” over and over.
Queensblood was not required, Kit I need you to understand this. you could’ve done other parts of the quest to get what you needed. let me say it again Queensblood was NOT REQUIRED
I'll never understand the hate for Brothership. 😅 It's been a long while since I've enjoyed a Mario & Luigi game that much. Granted, I know I have some unpopular opinions when it comes to the M&L series. (Partners in Time remains my favorite; Bowser's Inside Story felt mid.) I’m pleasantly surprised that Thousand Year Door won the community vote for best remake over the juggernaut that is Rebirth. There’s a couple things that bug me about TTYD's new design, but overall, it was a great experience for me too. I'm very glad they added a pipe shortcut between Twilight Town and Creepy Steeple. I always found trying to avoid the numerous enemies in that tight forest trail a pain. My game of the year for this year was Unicorn Overlord. I enjoyed the game mechanics and just overall feel of the game thoroughly. Metaphor might've topped it if I'd been able to play it. Maybe I'll get the chance if it releases for the Switch 2.
@@kierenbuckley370 Every single game I've bought for the PS4 has ended up porting to the Switch, so I've been reluctant to pull the trigger on any more Playstation games in case they just get ported to a Nintendo console. (Would rather just have all my games on one console if I can.) I also have enough JRPGs still left to play that I haven't felt a need to get Metaphor right away. 😅
Final boss fake-outs are only a problem if you already dislike the game and are just ready for it to be over with. Okami fakes you out like twice, making you think the game is wrapping up when in reality you have a ton of content left. I thought it was awesome because I wasn't ready to be done with the adventure yet. I feel like final boss fake-outs could be lumped under the same umbrella as "games that go on longer than they need to."
I wish I had found out about it being optional BEFORE the ship, but I also wanted to experience the game as blind as possible. I fully expected that if I forfeit the tournament, that I’d have to do it all over again. I’m really grateful I don’t have to go through it, but I did end up suffering through it on my initial playthrough, and it took 2.5 hours because I hated QB with a passion.
yeah like a dragon deserves it all, to me it's one of the best in the series, they really ramped it up with story, side quests and new areas. If ff7 rebirth wasn't here this year it would have been my number one.
Thank you for giving a shout out to Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, I don't know why it was not nominated. Have you guys played UFO 50? My game of the year of Like a Dragon and UFO 50 for sure.
Having spent 150 hours in FF7 Rebirth, I was the target for the extra content. I just loved roaming that world no matter what I was doing. I'll take all the padding they will give me for the FF7 series lol.
GRANBLUE RELINK MENTIONED! Such a great game but I barely even see it beeing talked about at most end of year lists. Often not even in honorable mention list or lists of overlooked games. Nice to see that you gave it a small nod at least.
Where I'm at in Brothership, after meeting up with Peach, it feels like it's getting better. I'm hoping that will hold for the rest of the game. FF7 Rebirth absolutely had a final boss fakeout. It was awesome! As other people said, QB is 100% optional, the game tells you you can skip the tournament on the cruise ship.
I really enjoyed Romancing Saga 2 Revenge of the Seven a lot this year, much more than I thought I would. It's kind of went under the radar a bit though, nobody has really talked about it much after it came out.
Kit and Krysta looking glamorous! Thank you for a great podcast episode, GOTY Edition. W thumbnail! Glad I voted and heres to one last episode for the year 🥂
Just wanted to say I love how you guys both picked Infinite Wealth as your GOTY since it was mine too! While it definitely received some recognition, it feels like it was forgotten about by many since it came out in January.
@sirmel11 My understanding is that New Vegas fans thought Fallout 4 had bad writing, the base building in 4 was divisive even among fans, and Fallout 76 released in a nearly unplayable state with awful monetization. So Bethesda's last acclaimed release was Skyrim.
I didn't vote in most of these categories because there were often no options that I'd played lol oof (Sadly they allowed very few opportunities to vote positively for my actual GOTY, M&L Brothership 😔)
I bought Minishoot Adventures yesterday because of this video, and Kit is right: it's excellent. I'm only a few hours into it, but am having a great time. I'm surprised I hadn't heard about it until this video.
I just wanna say thank you so much for this amazing podcast! I’m studying game design right now in college and am considering going into marketing in video games and I’ve learned so much interesting stories about the industry and just love hearing you guys talk about games in general. I loved watching your game of the year wards last year, and I joined your Patreon a few months ago so it was awesome getting to vote in the awards this year. Here’s to another year watching your videos!
Wow I didn’t know that games lasting too long was a thing. I have the opposite feeling. I feel like games don’t last very long at all anymore. It only takes a couple of days to finish most modern games.
I'm curious if you have a specific then vs now in mind. I'm not sure if games have gotten longer, but with everything from Zelda to Dark Souls to Assassin's Creed to Star Wars being 100+ hour open-world RPGs, it definitely feels like long games are more the norm now than in the past.
This was awesome 🎉 and you both look so fancy 😍 Juuuust have to say what I see some others have also said. Even on the Shrinra cryise ship you could forfeit and then when you face Red you can choose "forfeit without rematch". Although I understand it wasn't the most obvious. 😂
It’s shameful that Palworld was on Krysta’s top 10 list as a former Nintendo employee and supporter. Pokémon is of course one of the most beloved IP’s in the world, partially owned by Nintendo, and Palworld is clearly a parody of it.
You two just disgust me. Abandoning everything you believed in for decades and coming to hate all of Nintendo's past games solely because ONE game in their same style made by the competition now exists? If that's what it takes for you to come to hate what you loved for a really long time, then you shouldn't have worked for Nintendo at all... you're just horrible.
Congratulations to all our award winners! What's your game of the year for 2024?

Unicorn Overlord for me! Sad to see it didn’t make the community top 10 😭

Kit and Krysta 2017: Welcome to Nintendo Minute!
Kit and Krysta 2024: Peach is CAKED up, but fortnite booties are unreal.
And everyone was better off for it
Kit looks so dashing. I'm all blushed up. And Krysta is gorgeous as always 😍
They are so hawt 🥵🥵🥵 fr
I love Krysta's green dress
Unicorn Overlord is absolutely my GOTY!! The art style and soundtrack is amazing, and the gameplay revives such a unique spin in strategy gaming. It feels like such a well polished gem all the way through, and I found myself saying “just one more level” over and over.
That was my only negative was there wasn’t more. I finished it too fast and I wanted more.
Queensblood was not required, Kit I need you to understand this. you could’ve done other parts of the quest to get what you needed.
let me say it again
Queensblood was NOT REQUIRED

I'm glad you guys give Like a Dragon the respect it deserves.

whats your excuse for not playing Metaphor?
I really loved Brothership, but it DRAGGED towards the end, still one of my favorite games on Switch though!

Part of me will miss the iconic Mario suit but Kit is pulling off this look extremely well (& Krysta is too of course)

Queen's Blood is never forced in the game, you can always opt out of it
Even on the ship, it's still optional.
And it's also really fun. Krysta is just a hater lol.

I love Rebirth so much. Someday I will finish those last coliseum and simulator challenges.
I love the K&K Game Awards. This wonderful community coming together to praise and celebrate what we love and appreciate the most... butts
57:40 LOL Kit trying to rip away the lid of the bottle. It's supposed to stay attached according to EU regulation 😄
Rebirth is unquestionably GOTY for me, but I am happy with your top 4. Looking forward to playing Astro Bot and Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth.

I forgot to add. great episode!
Thanks for all the content this year! Big year next year 🤞🤞
Bethesda hasn't been a top tier developer in ages
Care to explain why you feel that way?
@sirmel11 My understanding is that New Vegas fans thought Fallout 4 had bad writing, the base building in 4 was divisive even among fans, and Fallout 76 released in a nearly unplayable state with awful monetization. So Bethesda's last acclaimed release was Skyrim.

Love the way both of you are dressing up!
Great choice of additional game categories!
Green is your color, Krysta.
Pikachu EX is a great choice! Celebi might take the cake now!
Do we know why Helldivers II is rated Mature to Adults Only? Is the AO having to do with DLC?
I’m here for dump truck of the year BOTY 🎉
good look guys!
My favorite games of 2024 were Unicorn Overlord, LoH: Trails Through Daybreak, and Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes.
This was fun to watch. I thought Nintendo World Championship was a disappointing, it'd be nice to include the full version of the games too 😊😊😊

Look snazzy guys 👏🏼👏🏼
My game of the year in Persona 3 Reload and my favorite Nintendo game of the year is Emio the Smiling Man.
This is just peachy keen!
