I built so many of the trucks when I was younger that I lost count, bringing back good memories, gave all of them away when I hit my twenties, sure do regret it,
I built this kit (the cab-over) when I was a teen in the mid 1970s - wish I had kept it. Since AMT has re-released this kit, I plan to build it again. I appreciate all the time and effort you have put into these builds and will watch any (and all) videos about this kit.
AMT did re release the kit, but with none of the problems they used to have. It goes together as good as any high quality kit on the market. you will love it; no fit issues, and everything lines up the way it should.
good tips ..thanks for bringing it up ..ive always tried other ways to fix the wide front axle issues ..some good ..most resulting in alot of spare parts kits ..also good to see another model truck builder ..there doesnt seem to be to many of us ..or im just not looking in the right places ..
Another great vid. I’ve picked up so many tips from your videos. Keep them coming. I usually build aircraft but am presently building the classic Revell 1/25 KW 900. I built the kit before as a kid. It’s been fun.
Just found your channel and it comes at a good time as I'm building the new edition of the 4070A. I have a bit of advice for anyone building that kit. Don't put the passenger side chrome trim/step assembly on until the cab is mounted to the chassis. I sat the cab down on the table then bumped it and broke those delicate steps off. PS, I subscribed.
Hi Ben great video and content as usual. It seems like the older AMT kits have a lot of issues , I have built several of the older kits and about pulled my hair out. Round2 has put a lot of work into the molds and improved them to where I have noticed that parts fit together better and the alignment of parts is not an issue. By the way I like your idea of using the cases for footballs to show off your big right builds. Thank you for sharing as always keep the great videos coming.👍
I built this when it first came out and forgot about this front axle problem. These ertl blueprinter kits were the best at the time and still hold out as good models. I guess a simple measurement was missed. Even both the 1/6 and 1/25 Revell Kenworth have the axle to far forward.
This was really good info thanks Ben. Be good of you could do the sma ewirh some of the AMT truck kits, a lot of those suffer with build issues, but for a novice truck builder like me it's really helpful to know how to overcome those issues.

I recently built a 4300. That front axle gave me fits. I moved the axle forward like you have suggested. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Interesting information about the transtars
