@@n64glennplant Yeah there's a preview on RUclips. It's coming along, another one that's a must play for me as and when it's completed (and despite not making much progress with my N64 backlog).
It's weird how most of the Japan only Nintendo games seem to graphically push the hardware much more than what we got in the west. I'm looking at this and, apart from the 2D characters which are both aesthetically nice and less taxing on the hardware, the environment is way more detailed than anything else I've seen on N64. Maybe apart from Majora's Mask.
Glenn thank you very much for making a video! I know that this patch was a labor of love for many years, so it's great to see it getting some recognition! The hacker behind it, Ozidual is also working on a patch for Getter Love and doing the hacking for Yakouchu 2!
Yeah I know teary eyes Anderson did a document format for it but getting it into the game is a whole another task! I know getter love is quite a quirky and funny game so I’ll be looking forward to seeing that eventually too! Zool is another one I see many people asking for!
@@n64glennplant Ah Zool is such a little known game. Like Onegai Monsters it's mainly aimed at elementary school students so it's not the deepest game out there, but the art style is nice. The translation project for Onegai Monsters has some what stalled as it's hard to extract the text. Ozidual is working on that too!
Was NOT expecting there to be this level of humor from the dialogue in this game. In fact, I expected it to be pretty by the numbers jrpg stuff. It's amazing how much the translation adds to it. I wasn't all that interested in the game after I watched your original Japanese Eye review tbh, but now I'm really interested to give the game a try. Looks fun.
I always knew about Shiren but had never played the games until I got absolutely addicted to the Switch game(the port of the Vita game). I'll definitely check this one out.
This is so cool! I just finished the SNES Shiren the Wanderer translation earlier this year. I completely forgot there was an N64 sequel. Can't wait to get stuck in this one!
@@n64glennplant I love this series, it is such a shame so many games are locked down to japan due to language. I considered many times to learn japanese just to be able to play those games, but it is not an easy endeavor. I'm very thankful to the translators.

@@n64glennplant I know. I've heard it before. Getting an Everdrive would be so easy but I just like switching out cartridges. Might sound silly but it's an experience I don't mind paying for. I would love to make my own repros but the kits for that have been sold out for a long while :(
1st this video is kinda fresh with a fan tranlated n64 game and 2nd I really enjoy this "kinda" experimental video. 3rd I really like the render look from the n64 era😃Well done Sir🙂
haha I always find it funny seeing John on camera because the voice really doesn't suit the person. its a nice voice though, great for voiceovers and should get an agent for tv work
@@n64glennplant I have to credit you for the recent surge in my love for n64 gaming. I’ve gone through your entire playlist a few times now and I keep finding new gems to go out and play.
As much as I love the spritework in the most recent Shiren game, I would love a modern game with the 3D "sprites" that the Saturn and n64 were known for
I know the way text is put into certain games varies (sometimes it requires whole artwork to alter text, in other games it’s character based) but from what I’m aware of there’s nothing being worked on at the moment
Excellent find mate, and video concept...let the footage do the talking. I'm guessing you've seen that A Golden Eye release on switch may not be fiction after all?? 😱
Yeah it’s a still “wait and see” for me, people are making too much of a deal about it saying they wouldn’t spend money etc….it costs very little and if there was an apportioning to get it through courts now then why not even if it was based on a future hope that the rights issues may get resolved.
I've got the original cartridge in japanese, and maybe i missed something by having no idea what the texts said, but the game was really really hard, could never beat it.
lol not a jab, more of a tribute as I get quite a few comments asking if were the same person. Im not really into collabs but either way I don't think we have anything to collaborate on as were very different channels
I always felt Nintendo made a mistake by not releasing this in the West. Sure, a rogue-like RPG was not going to set the world on fire and make people go out and buy the console just to play it. But it would have at least been something the N64 owners who resented the lack of RPGs on the system could look forward to.
Wow, I'll have to check it out! I'll probably use an Emulator as it's easier for me to set up. Do you know of any other Japanese exclusive N64 games that are translated like this game?
Zonkitty has translated a lot of games. Including Densha De Go which is a very fun arcade train sim. He even managed to hack the voice control unit in the game.
I always wondered if someone would do that with the Yakochu II, translation that I made, "Yakochu II: Satsujin Koro, with Complete English Translation" ruclips.net/video/HUy-Q89r5sQ/видео.html . I also translated Doshin the Giant 1, Doshin 2 {yeah, I know it has a longer title, but I hate the longer title name} for 64DD, Doraemon 1 for N64, Japan Pro Golf Tour 64, I think all those translations are on IGN, except Yakochu II, as that would be like putting a entire novel on their site or some other site. I tried that for "Banana Prince" for NES. Then a user named 'King Mike ' took my text and made a NES patch, but also claimed a copyright credit on the title screen, which I was pretty sure we'd get sued for. :( But as far as I know nobody ever tried, it with the other N64 games, probably too much text, and my translation is pretty rubbish for someone to want to put it into a rom patch. I originally finished the Yakochu II project back in 2017, but shortly after that RUclips removed the captions, but I had already saved capture footage of the added captions. So now the shorter versions don't have that transcript option that I loved from the shorter videos, which made it really easy to edit, and view all the text. Instead the longer version released in 2019 only has the text imbedded into the video, which sadly can't be updated or changed.
I'm interested in this game, hopefully it comes to the horrible N64 online for Switch, so Alex can say "Hello and welcome to another episode of N64 Time Capsule... sorry, hello lovely peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee-"
