As far as using it on Tahu, you could just forget about the pin assembly it comes with and attach it under one of the skull villain shoulder armor pieces, using that piece to pin it to the shell on that shoulder. I think the pin assembly is only included for if you want to put it somewhere where there isn't already a piece to pin it down.

I don't think any product that gets those things is going away anytime soon. I think they canceled the third graphic novel, but so what, that can be attributed to a number of other factors (maybe the author bailed, maybe they thought the graphic novels specifically weren't selling well, whatever). And sure, it doesn't get much publicity compared to the standard system sets, but they haven't emphasized their constraction sets nearly as much since the first Bionicle, probably since they can now rely on proven and popular brands like Ninjago to carry them, while when the first Bionicle came out they didn't.
