Rolling a cart filled with booze out of the store and getting arrested? Man, he's completely fallen from what he once was and turned into one of the Trailer Park Boys.
I met Robert/Gilbert through my sister, whom I was living with in Mississauga. She was divorced from a guy who's sister was the wife of R/G. My sister and his wife remained friends after my sister's divorce and the couple visited occasionally. He was very charming and very generous. Go figure. On some nights R/G, myself and new brother inlaw would hit the bar to let the girls have time alone to talk.He was generous to a fault and I never was allowed to pay any part of any tab. This would have been 1987/88 ish. There is alot more about him I liked about him but carisma comes to mind.
Masterminds did a thing on him back in the day and they said he had a bad drinking problem when he was in his prime. So him looking like that isn't a surprise.
The odds of you getting a cop car waltzing by your bank or store you're robbing is a lot higher in the USA. Being deported back to the USA I'm surprised he didn't have follow up charges waiting for him down there, but you can't play the odds down there. Random pullovers and other general police policies are completely different than Canada.
If he had all this loot hidden away, why shoplift a liquer store? He may have taken 2.5 mil but that is not what you get back from a fence. He had cash from banks, but over a mil in jewels which he would be lucky to get 25%???
Wow this was one hell of a robber.I just hate he lost his wife and kids. I've watched this movie bandit so many times I love this.He needs to work for FBI and give them pointers but these days it would be hard for him yo rob banks to much law Well maby not in Canada.
It's CBC!!!! Canada's major news network and it can't get an updated video shot of Vancouver, BC?? That video is from the late seventies or early eighties!!!!

Just did an interview on BloodonTheRazorWire and Bandit 2022 with Mel Gibson out next year. Best wishes on sobriety Gilbert.
Why didn't he go back to Canada? Why didn't Tommy Craig help him when he got out?
Because tommy got 8 years while he was in prison. .
~ Some guys just can't make it on the outside! Sad...
Canadians are so simple and nice!!!! 😘😍
He is American. He went to Canada when he broke out of jail during a 1.5 year stint with 1 year to go
@Chops some people with high IQs are still dumb af
Did anyone ask him "what would you do if somebody tried to stop you at the bank?"
If his gun was really loaded, its a scary thought
There is a movie about this guy called "Bandit" hitting the theaters soon.
I just watched it. It's really good.
