Ok so the issue might be what your recording settings are in OBS if it is not a camera issue. Do some googling and look at what your OBS is saving the files as and if that can cause issues.
For folks who are trying to make the EOS 600D work with OBS and seeing black screen, the solution for me was to only have OBS app open vs OBS AND the camera utility.
Read the comments and try what others suggested. Usually it's about resetting the camera to default setting, restarting computer and checking the USB cable if faulty or too slow.

BRO how can I get rid of face detection? I cannot find any solution for my 600D and its really frustrating as I stream, my camera keeps a focus box around my face. could really use your help man
I don't even REMEMBER this setting. That's crazy. Just look for a setting to turn off the smiley face OR use manual focus.
@@ImLeeLoi manual focus has a different Square of its own .. honestly I’ve tried everything.. Can’t seem to find the solution.. what do I do..
Hi. What's your OBS setting for Canon 600D? Mine has good quality but I think fps is not so smooth
Your not going to get full 30fps video mine isn’t entirely smooth but my recording is NEVEC and always set to fastest
@@ImLeeLoi Okay I think 30 fps will do. Still good quality tho. Appreciate your response. Love your video. Keep it up!
@@tysonanlacan9220 Good luck with streaming on the 600D! Thanks for supporting the channel. :)
Hello , does the same work for the canon t2i ?
I'm not sure tbh.
thankl youuu very much i was in hell reserching and my head aaaa my god bless you
Glad this helped!
it says that this application can only be opened from a bootstrapper. can you help me?
I don't think you downloaded the package incorrectly. Make sure you choose the Correct operating system and not to download source code - frankly I don't even know which application you are talking about.
In OBS , obs cannot detect High Resolution Camera Eos (1920 : 1080) , what is the Solution ?
Obs only detect 1280 Resolution if we choose custom Resolution
That is correct. If you watch the video I mention this. :)
What kind of cable are you using?
Just a regular USB Cable but that has USB C on one end so I don't have to use a hub or dongle.
Are you able to focus the camera from obs?
No unfortunately
Help. I have no idea why the feed of the video is lagging. The audio came first when I had a zoom meeting. I am using canon 60D, with direct digital output (dslr) to USB 2.0 (laptop) cable. I am trying to figure out what I shd tweak just to get the audio and video sync. Btw, I could hear and see the zoom participants speaking fine with no lag. It’s just mine has a problem. Tq in advance.
I am not familiar with the 60D as the 600D is different but I hope you can get an answer from someone else shortly. :)
@@ImLeeLoi thanks! I hope someone who has a similar issue, wld have something figured out and let us know. I’ve tried different USB ports on the same laptop. The issue still persists.
At this moment, I am trying to acquire a higher spec USB cabling, and another option is HDMI cable for direct HDMI output into the laptop, instead of relying on USB. It cld be that the USB 2.0 just doesn’t suit the resolution well for live streaming, it downgrades the FPS, causing the jitter and latency issue. I’ll see what options give me better result.
I still can't get it to show up in OBS
Can i use on Screenflow?
If the app has webcam support I do not see why not!
on the camera app it says eos webcam utility instead of displaying the camera ?
Please see other comments below!!! :)
no luck here, obs doesn't see the camera. i have the camera on and on video, I have updated firmware and downloaded eos webcam utility restarted... what am i missing? anyone?
I'd try resetting the camera to it's OG settings. Also switch between video mode and manual and see if it works. Make sure OBS is open and webcam utility is being used while doing so. :)
@@ImLeeLoi what do you mean by being used? do I have to open it seperate or something?
thx for your reply
@@TheDanAge Like have OBS open and have webcam utility enabled meaning you probably see that blue screen saying to connect the wire.
@@ImLeeLoi sweet switching it to manual and then back made it work!
@@TheDanAge HORRRAY
thx a lot

how can you remove the auto focus square form the 600d
That should not be present with this software.
I’m getting the feeling a lot of people are trying to route the HDMI cable into OBS which I’m not even sure outputs HD over hdmi.
@@ImLeeLoi is there any way I can contact you privately?
@@soypipe95 No sorry! I'd just keep fiddling around with the camera, perhaps do a factory reset. You shouldn't be seeing the auto focus square with this software unless your trying to output HDMI clean.
If that is what you're trying to do all I can imagine is giving Magic Lantern a go and see if clean HDMI is a feature.
What camera did you use to shoot this video? The quality is amazing
I'm glad because I'm pretty sure it's slightly out of focus haha. It's the Sony A7SII I bought used when I upgraded from the T3i.
@@ImLeeLoi could I use that as a webcam? I watched your video thinking about the canon rebel t3i, but after I saw the quality from your video I figured I’d ask
@@brockfleming9616 You can with a HDMI connection like an Elgato Cam Link but to use a camera like a7sii with a fancy lens as a webcam seems overkill unless you need this for broadcast or extremely high end work like Movie Junkets (which most still use high end webcams anyway)
@@brockfleming9616 A really great high end webcam I use is the Logitech Brio 4K. If you want a Camera to use as a webcam look at the Sony ZV-1 which can hook in via USB directly to be a webcam.
@@ImLeeLoi do you think the canon t3i with the legato cam link would look better than the Logitech brio 4K webcam?
I'm using this solution for video conferences, but I can't remove the black bars on the sides. Did anyone figure how to fix it in the camera's settings?
I can do it in OBS, but most of the conferencing tools don't have a cropping option.
Do it in OBS and then use OBS as virtual camera
@@ImLeeLoi thank you! I really wish there was some simpler solution, but that will have to do for now :)
I’ve tried multiple cables and it still just says eos webcam utility when I try to use it
Fiddle around with the Camera modes. Clash Cam above appears to have had the same issue you did. Try put it in both video mode and manual mode, restart your Computer each time.
Does anyone else have these small frame drops while using the 600d on OBS?
Likely due to not enough bandwidth on the USB 2.0 the camera has. Do not expected HDMI level performance
when i plug in my cam i get black screen on the camera screen and i don't get a video in zoom or obs
are there specific options in the cam that i need to change
plz help i really whant this to work
Hey Clash, try making sure it's in video mode. If that doesn't work try auto or manual. Fingers crossed some combination of that with restarting your Mac/PC each time you'll find the setting that works for you. Mine used to go black too but then I'd hear a shutter click and I'd see picture both on the camera screen and the computer.
so when i put my camera on the video symbol and than plug it in to my pc i hear a click sound comming from the camera and i get black screen. Can you maybe send some pictures from the setting from your 600d camera so i can set mine the same?
@@clashcam5783 I had mine reset to default when doing this. I'd double check the USB Cable. Also you need to have a webcam program in use. Open up Skype or ZOOM and do a test while using the camera. I think the camera might stay black until the Computer actually wants to use it as a webcam.
@@ImLeeLoi hey thanks for all the help i found a solution, in the windows settings the acces to allow apps to use a camera is by default off. when i switched that on it worked!! But i have one more question, what type of dummy battery do i need for this camera so i can plug it in to a power suplly cus a battery won't work for mor than 8 hours and i cant find the right dummy battery.
If you know what type i need that would help allot!
@@clashcam5783 I haven't done research on this just yet but I assume it's one that just plugs into the wall from the battery.
i try with my canon 80d but it's not working.
Oh no! Where are you getting stuck. Are you getting a blue webcam screen that just says EOS Webcam utility? If you don't even get that there's an issue with your install.
@@ImLeeLoi yes I got this message EOS WEBCAM UTILITY, and In my Mac , inside applications, where I install EOS webcam utility folder, I can’t see any app icon. Maybe it’s problem with software installation? In my Mac I am using Big Sur. Any suggestions. And thank you for reply. 🙂
@@ViruYoga Ok so your installation is actually good. The software is having trouble finding the camera. Try using another cable. Make sure the camera is set to video mode and that the camera reacts when you try to use EOS WEbcam utility.

I've watched a few of these types of videos but one thing I'm still unsure of is whether or not I need a battery/dummy battery for the camera to do this. Does the USB/USB-C connection power the camera, or do I still need an external power source?
You do NEED an external power source. Absolutely. Run it off battery for short zoom calls, buy a dummy battery for long stream sessions
@@ImLeeLoi Thanks! I've seen at least one B&H article about some Canon cameras that can use USB power, but I haven't had luck finding out which models may actually support that. The search continues!
Thanks..
no probs!
Doesn't work anymore
Interesting as I have my 650D which I basically don't use anymore which I could potentiall repurpose. In your tests is the framerate a bit low and also is there some lag when using in OBS as 02:53 it seems like the audio isn't in sync.
Yeah. I need to double check whether the frame rate issue is with the Camera or OBS, as for the audio not in sync you can delay sound in OBS; I think it's highest efficacy are video calls where your looking for better than MacBook webcam quality and which are typically not high in FPS.
@@ImLeeLoi are you talking delaying the sound on your separate microphone to match the canon t3i webcam?
@@morpheus2814 Yeah. That is something you can do in OBS if you want to try match them up more. :)
too bad no DoF to make it more

How to use HDMI
Hi, I'm not sure if there is a benefit to using HDMI. I'm aware if you use Magic Lantern you can make HDMI out clean but I'm actually not sure if HDMI outputs at 720p let alone 1080p.
EOS 600D is not supported by the program!
Make sure you download the right installer from the Canon website for 600D / T3i and your camera is on the latest firmware.
cord used?
USB
Good god
Use an external mic.

It's blurry!
You have to focus the camera manually yourself.
awesome video terrible sound
man it looks like garbage
Years ago it looked better than the crap webcam in the MacBook.
Buy a damn microphone
