    I was so VERY impressed by this work and the actual short film! You actually made creating one of the most difficult type of genre movies to make look easy as Ridley Scott said every step of the Blade Runner process was extremely difficult. You managed to create a brilliant short film that I've already told others about and probably the best independent film I've ever seen!

      Ridley made Blade Runner in the old chemical process days. No CGI. No digital color grading. Had to wait for dailies to see how your previous days shots came out.

    I know you guys shot this in 4K, but was the film edited and rendered in 4K? I hope so, because it would be a waste to loose those high resolution textures on the miniatures with a 2K DI like so many movies these days do.
    If the film did indeed get a 4K DI, then I would LOVE to buy it in 4k UHD for my TV.

    • @sliceoflifefilm
      @sliceoflifefilm  4 года назад

      Yep, the final film is indeed in 4K. Unfortunately we will offer only HD Blu rays because it's too complicated for us to author 4k discs. BUT we will offer a 4K digital download so you could download it and still watch it on your TV. Hope that helps and thanks for your interest. (btw it will be available in a month or two ;)

    • @mosesking2923
      @mosesking2923 4 года назад

      @@sliceoflifefilm Awesome! Was the movie made with a 4K digital intermediate, or is it a 2K DI that was upscaled? You guys must have had powerful computers to edit and render in 4K. What graphics card/computer setup did you use?

    • @sliceoflifefilm
      @sliceoflifefilm  4 года назад

      @@mosesking2923 All shot and edited in 4K, no upscaling. Editing wasn't that much of an issue, but compositing the shots in After Effects was sometimes pretty hard. We would often have 15 4K shots stacked on top of each other and rendered at the same time so it was pretty slow. Specs: Intel Core i7-3930K 3.20GHz, 24GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970. I'm not much of a tech guy, but as far as I understand it wouldn't make that much of a difference even if you had the best computer ever - After Effects are the bottleneck. But I might be wrong of course, haha :)

      So with your logic any indie movie that uses a camera is not 'no budget' because they had to buy a camera! Camera costs money therefore its not no budget. You kinda missed the point

      @@lukafilm exactly this divides a production from a hobby... indiefilm or not. If you own a camera you already have a device that you didnt get sponsored with but you invested in for your o w n fun of creation. And when you read my comment careful you must recognize that I didnt start with the tools but the post, the fx production and the goal to look like a big budget movie which is simply not possible with " no Budget ". I consider these well equipped kids, financed by whoever with a passionated thrive for the big screen, just enjoy your fun, but dont tell a pro what you consider a " no Budget " film because I did some for clients and I run a production.

      @@dereinchecker9376 well, I'm the guy who made this film, and I can tell you with absolute certainty that the shots you can see in this video were filmed in my garage with an old model of Balckmagic camera we bought ourselves, a slider that I built myself, and miniatures that I also built myself from - junk. We did spend some money on a couple of spraycans, but that was it. And I also have a production company, we do commercials with proper budgets, but for this we had - no budget.
      btw, I also did post and vfx myself.
