Also I created a Facebook group page called DIY Home Improvement Made Easy so if you want to join there please do. Anyway make today great!
@monyoutu The idiots who installed my fill valve nut tightened it so tightly that they not only broke of all the wings needed to grip it, but the entire fill assembly turns when I try to turn the nut itself. I'm gonna have to use a blow torch or a saw to get this thing off! Monyoutu, your explanation should be beamed into the brains of all the handymen who think that wrench tightened to death is always best. and then sealed with a knock to the skull so they never forget.
Yeah your nut has been on that toilet for years! You have to have two wrenches or one pair of pliers & one wrench so you can hold the end of the water fill valve in order to remove the actual nut....see? That little plastic nut area above the nut you are trying to remove....
Soooooo I've replaced the water line and water fill valve but I keep getting a slow leak at the water line connection to the toilet and I can't seem to get it stopped no matter what I do. What's the problem. I did a quarter turn but the other small nut that is supposed to go on the bottom before the water line connects won't allow the water line to thread on all the way and causes it to leak way worse so I took it off and tried to connect just the water line without the second nut and it leaks less but still leaks and iam at a loss as to what to do now.
it may be just the gasket that is on the inside of the tank. late reply, but I think that's what is wrong with mine-as I am at the same stage as you. And I'm about to replace the inside ring gasket
I'm problems where it's leaking under the second nut. I have tried tightening and everything. Is there supposed to be a washer or gasket of some kind that could be lost. It's leaking right where the hose and second nut connect.
You might not have it tight enough or your threads could be so old they might be worn just a bit. You could try applying teflon tape to it then try again & that might fix it. Let me know if it does....
How did you get it loose? You could spray WD40 on it then try after like ten minutes or so. You would then need to turn with a wrench then also hold the other nut from turning so the inerts would turn. See what I mean?
Spray with WD40 then wait a few minutes & try again. The place where the nut is...just above the nut you would have to hold that part separately with another pair of pliers as you are trying to loosen the nut. See what I mean? Try it & let me know how you do....
Sh#@. I replaced the toilet fill valve today no problem. Problem is it is a smaller diameter than the water supply line coming from the wall. Is there an adapter in between or do I chuck the new fill valve or replace the water supply line and fitting?
Good question as I have never seen this issue to apply to any toilet fill valve I have ever installed. I think the end nut to the water line from the wall can be changed to the size you need. Can you unscrew the nut/gasket at the end of the water line to the wall & take that to the hardware store to see if you can get a different end to it? I would think this might be your first step as you may not want to replace the entire water valve. The line coming off the main water valve sometimes you can unscrew just that portion then take that to the store & get a different end for it & I believe you can do it that way. Let me know how you do!
1:09 Do you have instructions for a reverse procedure? I am trying to remove the fill valve and I am having an incredibly hard time unscrewing the top nut from the bottom on the fill valve. It is on so tight! Do you have any suggestions as to how I can loosen them?
I have this exact toilet and I was wondering why it was leaking here after tightening it. A half turn with a wrench was all it needed. I was giving it too much. Thanks for the video!
Mine is so tight, the top one, that I cannot get it off to fix the toilet. Should I cut it with pvc pipe cutters or something?? I’m a female who is not a handy girl. Help please!
Hey Danni so sorry I was not able to get back to you a week ago as I was away from the computer. Which nut are you actually trying to loosen/remove? The one nut up tight to the toilet porcelain is the nut that holds the toilet fill valve tight so if you are just trying to remove the bottom nut, the bottom nut is the one you would remove to remove the water line that goes down to the water valve on the outside of the toilet. Maybe that's why you were not able to remove the nut...? Please send me more info as I will look for your message so I can respond back quickly to you. For other things around the house you can go to my main RUclips channel page then click on playlists & scroll through the many DIY topics I have on my channel for you. The top nut on my toilet is hard to reach, and it may be over tight and I can't turn it or get a good grip on it. I don't have much elbow space at all to get around. How can I remove it, the ball cock valve is going to be replaced anyway, should hack saw it off or melt it with a torch?

I got a REAL toilet from hell. Eijer commode with water supply line 20in long to get to handle/tree on the opposite side of the tank, and what should be a little plastic wing nut is not. It is a round slick piece of white plastic with no "wings" and between it and the tank. ...there is only about a millimeter of space, and the thing won't come off. Should i get a blow torch and melt it off? I'll take pics to a plumbing supply store and see what they recommend. The solution may be get a new commode.
@@VideoJoeKnows i've thought about that, but it is my only toilet. to take the tank off, it is beginning to look like i need to cut the line off with a hack saw; once the tank is off, maybe i could saw the thing off the threaded nipple, sand off any burrs and see if there is enough thread left to screw a new line of onto it. will have to grind wingnut and grooves off the new line just to get it to fit in that tiny space between it and the tank. then cement it to keep it from blowing off. if that doesn't work, it's a new commode. i can see why eijer doesn't make toilets anymore.

any tips on how to loosen the plastic nut? i’ve been trying with my hands and a wrench and it’s not even unscrewing.
yeah, saw the fcking thing off!! I had to in my upstairs.
Robo grip pliers!!! Also righty tighty may be reversed depending on how the original plumbing was done

Did you try putting teflon tape on the threads then try tightening up the nut again?
What if its still leaking from the supply hose connection? Bad thread on supply valve?
You might not have it tight enough or your threads could be so old they might be worn just a bit. You could try applying teflon tape to it then try again & that might fix it. Let me know if it does....
