    A Milliradian radical has nothing to do with the yards or meters. It’s a unit of angular measurement.

    Hmmm, I thought I posted this, but don’t see my comment. Apologies if this is redundant.
    The last 10% can come from truing your data in the app. I’d switch to G7 and start with a .190 BC for those AAC OTM rounds.
    From there, waterlines on targets from 300-the end of your super sonic range. Shoot at the waterlines, note difference between what your solver says and what the actual hold was. I generally try and do 3 rounds to confirm im hitting the water line at any given distance.
    Lastly, adjust your BC to best match your actual data. I’m a proponent of adjusting BC, vs muzzle velocity truing (like in GB) because I can actually measure by velocity every time I shoot, I cannot do the same for my BC. And, as with MV, BCs are not fixed and can change based on several factors.
    While weather certainly has an effect, it’s surprising how little things change from 50-80 in the same location. My 20” at 800y is 5.96 mils at 90° and 6.24 mils at 50. Certainly not insignificant, but not a huge difference.

    Out of curiosity, what do you guys do to your rifles during the week to cause you to re-confirm zero and check muzzle velocities every Friday?

    • @projectblackhills
      @projectblackhills  Месяц назад

      I think you misunderstood. When I said we reconfirm zero at the beginning of the weekend, I just meant at the beginning of this particular weekend. It’s not something we do every week. However, it is good to just reconfirm every now and then. Even with high end and durable optics and mounts, there can be shift during travel, weather, and use. Just visually confirming nothing is out of the ordinary before going out and shooting more expensive ammo will save you time, money, and frustration. Speaking from experience!

    Pls correct me if I'm wrong, but as i understand it the G7 drag model is used for rounds with a boat tail base whereas G1 is used for flat based rounds

    • @projectblackhills
      @projectblackhills  Месяц назад +3

      From the research I’ve gathered, you are correct that G1 was designed for a flat based round, where G7 was designed for a boat tail based round, however, the G1 drag model is easier to calculate, therefore is still more widely used for all types of bullets. Even if it is a boat tail, it can still have a G1 drag model. Even this 77gr stuff from AAC says to use a G1 drag model with a .362 bc.

    • @BlueDevilBrew
      @BlueDevilBrew Месяц назад +1

      @@projectblackhills true, but the dope given by your ballistic calculator will be less accurate using G1 for a boat tail bullet. Many manufacturers, such as Sierra don’t provide G7. I’ve found it’s around 0.185 for 77gr SMK.
