The English have had perhaps more impact on British, European and World History than any other nation. First a province of the Romans before becoming petty Anglo-Saxon Kingdoms, the story of the English is long and complex.

Last time I was this early the English nobility still spoke French
that comes later, after William the Conqueror and the Normans take over, since they came from northern France
@@lewa705 yeah I know. I'm not talking about the video
*tHEy stiLL dO*
Last time I was this early they still spoke Latin
*1346 ptsd flashbacks*
This feels, unfinished. What about post 1066
Maybe there will be a part 2 papa Stalin
@@pmsilent well my son, we can hope
In fairness despite he himself being Irish his Ireland video does the same thing, it stops like after the civil war I think if I’m remembering correctly, which in fairness was in 1921 but there’s still other stuff that happened after that
Ah never mind he just skipped a load of stuff in his Ireland video to make it to the present
Everything past 1066 you can see for yourself in Crusader Kings 2.
*When your English history assignment is due tomorrow morning and you don’t have enough time to finish it*
England has an awesome history
You've done Scotland,England and Ireland do Wales next please
He's half done it already. In a video about England. King Arthur? Yikes.
Celts are ancestors to the Welsh. Anglo Saxons are the ancestors to the English.
not quite. Boudicca and Cartimandua were argueablly the most famous brythonic celts, and both from ''England'' the English have the same amount of Celtic ancestry as all other nations on the british isles. The differnce that i assume you're trying to put across is that the english have MORE aglo and saxon ancestry which is true, but many a welsh also have that also... orgins are origins. and everywhere in Briton was ''Brythonic'' Wales did a good job at preserving it's celtic ancestry in comparrison to the english, but that doesn't make the english any less celtic in blood. The english were heavily hit by christianisation, and the celts were listed as heathens, hence why the english abanonded most idealogies of celtic culture. the welsh irish and scottish hated the english, and rightly so, and mostly held on to their celtic cultures as a form of identity and sepratism, which still folds into modern practise despite being very impractical considering we basically all share the same ancesry more or less.

I think the animated history of the Netherlands would be great.
It would just be them getting kicked out of their own colonies and stealing sugar from Portugal
History with Hilbert intensifies
@@gabrieldeoliveira8304 Yeah exactly, fun times right!
Who cares about Netherlands mate😂🤦🏻♂️
@@neminemtarot9664 Where are you from because you just made an enemy for life
One minor detail you forgot: the Netherlands on your map includes Flevoland and the Afsluitdijk, which were only created in the 1930s and onwards...
Yeah, no way that second place can be made without having a stroke on a keyboard
Learning the history of England means we can learn the very f*cking crazy history of English :-0
Love the animation.
Keep doing what you love bro!
It's so weird that viking ships are so similar to phoenician ships. Anyone else ever noticed that?
Theres a theory that the nordic peoples took the initial designs fo their ship from Rome, given their close proximity to the Jutes of jutland. The theory goes over time they modified the designs until they became the iconic viking longboats known today. It would make sense then that they would resemble phoenician ships, given that the Romans initially copied Carthage(the Phoenician’s) ship designs.
@@themammoth9051I can't remember where I read it but I there's a theory that whilst the Roman's were stationed in Germania they actually hired Germani to build the Roman's ships because they were very accomplished ship builders even during the time of the empire before Hermanic migration period.
Great vid. Short and informative!

Great video! Also please do more videos about Denmark :)
I think that the animated history of Greece would be really interesting. Although it might take some episodes (similar to the Italian one) going from the Minoans to Spartans/Athenians to Macedonians to the Byzantine Empire and Finally to modern Greece.
Can't wait for it!
This was a really great educational video :)
From traders to raiders: A Viking story. 😂
Love your videos mate
Your character art is adorable!
Great Job like always!
No, not really.
You forgot to mention Uthred Ragnarsson of Bebbanburg. The half-saxon half-dane who singlehandedly built what England is today.
_This Latin parchments do not speak of him_
*BUT UTHRED WAS THERE*
Should be called "the animated history of *ancient* england..
Oh wait, part 2 inbound, nice.
Amazing video I love the animations, I just wonder if the drawings are a particular style, I would like to make those little peoples😜 really beautiful.
Im still waiting for Norway!
But still a great video!
this is very well done!
No it isn't.
Nice one
I freaking love this channel so much! Also could you please do a video on Japan or Korea?
I clicked on this faster than Harold teavelleling with his army to Stamford Bridge
This was a quick but entertaining and informative video.
Excellent work.
Last time i was this early caeser hadn'tt conquered Britannia
And he never will! Lol
In fact it wasn't Caesar, but Claudius
col ita it's a pun on both, that the Emporer were called ceaser and the fact that he failed to take it during his lifetime

THE SUN NEVER SETS ON THE BRITISH EMPIRE
You should do a history of bulgaria. I think it would be pretty interesting
They already did. Just look at their Mongolian video.
Have you not heard the recent news of the trace of Celtic DNA, according to that study the Celtic migration actually started in Asia Minor, then went thru the Balkans, across N Italy and the beachest of S France and along Spain, then up the W coast of France to England, Ireland, Scotland, & Belgium, than back to Austria, and later the one group went back home to Asia Minor - the Galatians.
This is in direct opposition to the Halstadt center origin, which was the common belief before technology showed different.
Can I have a link to the study please sounds cool

Please do Japanese History! And Korean History ! Hehe love your videos so much! Perhaps even Icelandic and Canadian History would be fun to watch too
Haha his videos on Japan and Korea are what lead me here today 😄
you cant have the history of England without the peak of english history aka that Trippier Free kick in the 2018 world cup where they were on top of the world.... even if only for a bit
That music at the end of the video.....
So f*cking good
Please do Hungary, we need more recognisation
Idk if youve seen it but search "project Pannonia" its a huge RUclipsr collaboration about the history of Hungary, You should check it out if you havent already
If your blood rushed up when the Viking Age was being told, I recommend you listen to Berserkir by Danheim after this.
Or give a listen to Britannia by Heidevolk.
This feels like it needs a part 2...
FINALLY!
I see a small mistake in the map you have used: It’s a modern one. Because Flevoland (that island in the middle of that inland lake/sea) was artificially made. For the rest: I love you videos so keep it up with the great work!
Nice Video! Greetings from Germany :)
Wish myself good luck 4 tmr's chemistry test..
Thomas TY same 😂
Hmm, wonder if thease are the same guy...
Chemistry is irrelevant. Really English and Maths are FAR more important
If you read you'll be successful
Good luck...
Good video
To understand the Welsh, realise the Saxons are to the Welsh what the Vikings are to the Saxons. But with no eventual victory... I hope this helps the English understand the Welsh

Hi love ur vids
Will you continue your other series?
England has a rich and interesting history!
Can you cover the history of Portugal?
FINALLY
Strange point to end it halfway through the viking age, and also a bit, short on events.
2:18 she was more genocidal than Caesar but it never even gets mentioned
The part about migrating from halstat is a theory and is unproven since there is not enaught evidence of mass migration to the isles during that period. It could as easily be that people on isles adopted celtic culture and art and became celts that way.
England part 3 please
Id like a return to The Format used in the Polish series, your best series in my opinion
Do greece too pls
What is that placement of York at 3:05 ?!
Edit: Also, the term 'Bretwalda' was probably fabricated by the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle during the later period and there is no evidence that it was used formally by any kings. The closest to such a title was that used by the Mercian kings Æthelbald and Offa, though some of the charters that name them as 'Rex Anglorum' are potentially later fabrications.
The 'Rise of Wessex' is often disputed and it was probably a mix of factors that include the reforms of the early ninth century, the Viking invasions disrupting the established balance of power and the dynastic weakness of both Northumbria and Mercia. The decline of Mercia and Northumbria probably wasn't due to both of them wearing each other out, rather a lack of a defined system for succession that made disputes upon the deaths of monarchs common. Indeed, Mercia and Northumbria still controlled large amounts of territory and may have had the capability to defend against the Viking invasions had inter-dynastic trouble not weakened them. As such, there probably wasn't a "power vacuum" for Wessex to fill, but their weaknesses definitely led to the Viking invasions which ultimately led to Alfred's expansions and the dominance of Wessex.
Nevertheless, great video, I really love your animation style!
You should make an animated history of The Netherlands.
Very interesting & something which isn't really promoted or discussed enough in England, I think.
Aye. Many English folk belive their people are the original "natives" of these isles...
@@Inucroft The Saxons forged the idea of England, the Normans just diluted the idea
@Genghis Khan load of bloody tosh. The Germanic were not part of the Celtic stock. Don;t even watch the damn video ur cmmenting on
Not diluted. They actually ensured that all Anglo-Saxon systems of governence contined. If you look at the now redundent Magna Carter: it also shows that native law is important- a welshman must be tried by welsh laws regardless of the location of crime (same for Irish, Anglo-normans and scotts)
@@Inucroft And they are. Please get educated.
what is the music called form 0:46??
4:20 that beat tho
10% history, 90% ads and promotions.
5% of that 10% is Welsh, Roman or Christian.
I respect you because you didn't lump Wales in with England
He just did with King Arthur.
Was king Arthur Wales?cause he fought against english
0:40 it would be more realistic for the soldier to nock the arrow and then wait for the signal, waiting for a long time with a bow drawn is tiring and inefficient. Also, 2:29 are those horns? Well I know what they say about horned vikings but I don't know much about the angles.
I hope there Will be a part 2
If NOT, there wont be a lot on the Channel of the biggest kingdom in the world
