@@CJ_7519 I respectfully agree 👍 with you but only partially because if you study the metamorphosis in the movie AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON you'll see in some parts the camera speeds change from time to time. In the movie THE HOWLING accredited courtesy and creativity of the one and only RICK BAKER and his accomplice ROB BOTTIN during the shape shifting scenes at the beginning of Eddie Quist's metamorphosis they use condoms and air bags with some sort of air compressor unit to show arms, chest, and facial muscles pulsating and stretching which personally to me actually really makes alot of sense. Just the long lost ingenious creativity that's in this age and day of CGI now obsolete. Sad, truly it is.

I was about the same age too when I saw The Howling, and it was extremely scary for me too, however, I liked these kid of things as a kid. Scary monsters, superhero comics, and action figures. I loved to draw these types af characters. I had aspirations of maybe doing a comic strip for the local newspaper, or working on a comic book. The Howling was a very scary movie. I was also pretty afraid of the movie Halloween. When it came on one Halloween, I had to see it. When I was left home alone on the weekends, it was my responsibility to turn off the lights in each room of tge house before I went to bed. My heart would race so fast, and I would be so tense and afraid as I went ro each room. I had a wild imagination. I would feel there was a possibility of a werewolf like in The Howling, or Michael Myers could get me. Lol I would constantly look behind me as I left each room. Finally when I got to my room, the finale room in the house with lights on, I would tense up in fear, look at my bed, anticipating how to get to it without hurting myself, then quickly turn the switch off, run and leap in the bed, quickly pulling the covers over my head. It was quite an ordeal. I'm glad I survived. Back then, during those moments, I wasn't so sure I would. Lol

I lived with my dad and his dad, my granddad in a large house in Memphis. On the weekend nights they both would go out on dates or to get togethers with other adults. I loved staying over at my 2 great aunt's house over the weekend. They were sisters and loved me very much. I could stay up late and watch tv. I would draw superhero characters and werewolves and monsters. I would show them what I drew and they wouldn't like it much. They didn't like monsters or things like that. They were very religious. They went to church every Sunday. Me too. My granddad would make me go with him. Anyway, my two great aunts knew I wasn't evil though. They knew that I just liked to draw those type of things, and was amused by them.
They treated me real good. They both have passed away. As well as my grandfather, who was their brother. My dad is still around though. I just saw him a few hours ago. He hates horror movies and superhero movies. He hated that I had a comic book collection as a kid. He couldn't understand what I saw in them. I couldn't understand what he didn't see in them. Nowdays the superhero movies are very popular now. Now my dad is forced to respect the comic books they came from. So now he keeps apologizing for not understanding back then, etc. etc.

Very creepy and atmospheric! I saw this movie at the theater when it first came out. In that version, the dirty movie segment where the reporter is watching the movie showed part of an actual stag film, where the man pulled the woman's vag open with his fingers. Then the creepy guy in the booth with the reporter said, "that could be you." Those clips are always missing in the current versions, too racy I guess. Still a great film.

    • @romanseano

Good observation! First in an assisting role, Rob Bottin led special effects makeup on "The Howling." But he replaced his own mentor, Rick Baker (still credited as consultant - as many designs were already in place). Baker helped get Bottin his start in the late 1970's. He left "The Howling" to work for his close friend John Landis on "American Werewolf in London." Landis of course later directed "Thriller" with Baker in charge of special effects makeup.
