I've been using various concepts with my students and pupils ever since I started my career in the education business. Last year meant a tectonic change for me: I started working for public education in my country. Now that's very surreal situation. I must tell you, no matter how clearly many people, colleagues, parents, students and even younger teenagers, are aware of the fact that the type of education, the traditional classroom education along a strict national curriculum that you describe from 1:15:00 is outdated, and no matter how hard I try to introduce some broader sense to it, the system is very strict, highly inflexible and far from being resilient. Many pupils hate it as a whole and hate the individual subjects too - especially Chemistry and Physics. They find school scary and stressful - a very similar situation as the one described by the Puerto Rican young man at 1:17:00. I like your metaphor at 1:25:35 about motivation!!! And when it comes down to the actual teaching at a given school, parents still expect us, educators to act like traditional teachers to do frontal teaching, in front of a black/whiteboard explaining a 'prescribed' material while silent students just keep writing. No matter how hard I try to introduce some variety to this strict system, 'one swallow does not a summer make'. And although it's not just one swallow, we are not enough out there. It would be such a good thing if you could speak Hungarian and see some brilliant initiatives in my homeland: students and enthusiastic teachers sharing videos on their field of studies explaining it in an easy-to-digest way for free, like 'mateking.hu' without which knowledge hubs a vast number of students in my country would have failed, left stranded on the waters of maths and natural sciences or simply hated the subject. But there aren't enough of us, swallows. There aren't enough of teachers of any kind as a matter of fact, since freshmen rather choose another career path due to not only low payment (lowest among uni graduates in fact), but mainly due to these circumstances here. So, yes, I agree with you and I also admire your work and the path you follow. Hope one day this concept of yours will be a reality all over the world. Thanks a lot for sharing this video. I'm going to send it to the parents who speak English in my country.

I'm glad that i start college with him to lean on!!
Key take away: *Asychronous progression system. *Fun driven >> captialism driven , and more positive impact to u and ur descendants. *Trend assessment over long period time give more accurate pic over snapshot style exam assessment. *Boundaryless learning, where age, grade, subjects(say all science subjects treat as one) ,teacher-student-ratio,etc are all removed. Everyone work at their own pace in one class room. *Teacher focus less on teach but inspiring student to self-pace-learning. *Having good student to be TA. *Real slow student could take a long time to internalize a concept and beat the rest of class in term of graaping a knowledge. It is important to not rush progression.
I have been watching his videos since 8th standard and now I am doing Bachelors in Physics still whenever I have any kinda ambiguity I go to Khan academy.
I think one of the main lessons Sal can teach us today is that every single one of us can be just like him. Maybe the difference between learning a basic addition and teaching the world many complex concepts is not all that big. Something I learned when I spent my time looking at lives of great men in science, is that they were not so different from us. Newton, Einstein, Galileo, Feynman. We all started with the same tools. They were just a little more curious, and changed the world. So can us.
What a wonderfull thinking of fre learning to all and effectively Khan academy is the best e learning platform it helped me in physics and astrophysics and especially in trignometry and calculus ,calculus and trignometry are one of my favourite concepts .

Key take away:
*Asychronous progression system.
OMG!!! I wasn't able to connect his face to his voice!!! #worldsbestteacheraward
I have been watching his videos since 8th standard and now I am doing Bachelors in Physics still whenever I have any kinda ambiguity I go to Khan academy.
Khan's wife is a doctor and this guys is a genius omg those genes mixed together 🤯
Assortative mating
Sal is a great guy... He has a good sense of humor and great way of teaching
Even his face looks like a true face of education
U guys don’t know how many times Sal came in clutch for the math homework.
Sal deserves everything in life, what a legend
This man is my guardian angel❤
I think one of the main lessons Sal can teach us today is that every single one of us can be just like him. Maybe the difference between learning a basic addition and teaching the world many complex concepts is not all that big. Something I learned when I spent my time looking at lives of great men in science, is that they were not so different from us. Newton, Einstein, Galileo, Feynman. We all started with the same tools. They were just a little more curious, and changed the world. So can us.
What an inspirational story? Khan Academy is the best! Learn at your pace and master it
I love you Sal. Thank you so so so much for all that you do.
this guy is the reason im still supporting my 3.5 cgpa
wow, i never studied for the SAT but this gives me hope...like if a 50 yr old can take it and get a job interview if he gets an 800, then i can too
Thanks RUclips for this talk from my idol!
What a wonderfull thinking of fre learning to all and effectively
Khan academy is the best e learning platform it helped me in physics and astrophysics and especially in trignometry and calculus ,calculus and trignometry are one of my favourite concepts .
Pleasantly surprised by this recommendation, 7 years after being uploaded.
The site saved my ass for the MCAT. All other resources were less of a par to be honest. Hands down Khan is. University on its own.
