I love animashes because the visuals enhance the music. I love how "the music" (when in reality the editing--the pacing, the colors, the effects in correlation with the music) enhances the visuals. Bambi is already a gorgeous movie, but this edit makes it look ethereal and gritty--like the impression of nature in a dream. Nicole's latest song was already so dreamy, but this brings it to life and gives it a visual tactility to make it an experience more than an object. It's mesmerizing. It's comforting. It's unsettling. It's gold.

I love how haunting and beautiful this whole video is, and I just love how lately you’ve been making long edits. I’m glad you were able to use the whole movie for this song! It truly fits your style so much.
I was so captivated by everything, the effects, overlays and text are so well placed and fit the atmosphere of the song so well. I just love the masked out parts of Bambi and Prince when they are glitched and static! Just such a cool idea! You’ve always come up with such neat effects like that! Love this video so much!! It turned out so great my friend!! Wonderful job!

Rewatching a year later and appreciating how the negative effects are used as a storytelling element throughout the video. The amv is in natural color in Bambi's infantile memories and in the presence of Falene--in times of safety and love.
The video going negative in the presence of parents, in the presence of violence or terror, or the moment of grief when Bambi falls in step with his father upon his mother's death. Even the potential violence of the meadow is portrayed in a gradual introduction of negative, where mother and environment is negative, but Bambi is not.
The contrast becomes more apparent in how sudden the change in color scheme becomes--from frollicking with Falene to looking upon a rival, from young Bambi's curious look to one of rapture and unease in the presence of the Great Prince. The climax mixing natural-color images of Falene pursued by the dogs and clips of safety and affection by the couple intermixed with the negatives of Bambi's rescue and fighting the rival stag really solidifies this theme.
The video begins with violence in negative, with Bambi hurt with a heartline animated in time with the song, and it ends on a very similar note, this time expanding the original prompt with a lingering scene between the Great Prince and Bambi that ends with the father NOT stepping away like in the film but instead disappearing, (almost like the edit suggests a better confirmation of death than the original movie).
Even the lyric "I wait for it to get dark" (as in, "I wait for the inevitability of violence") has compelling visual context in this amv.
(Idk I'm not fantastic at media analysis, so if you have creator notes to share, I'd be thrilled to hear it haha)

First of all I'm really honored you wrote this long comment & kept going back to this edit! Probably my first video analysis comment too haha.
It's pretty amazing how differently video edits can be interpreted. As this was a very personal video for me to make, after major unfortunate things that happened in my life. The negative effect was made to represent.. well... Negative things in my life, mainly my own mental issues & thoughts.
Bambi was meant to represent myself, as young and as an adult. Faline an important person in my life.
I can't even really explain in too much detail what everything meant for me. As I made this edit it was a very important emotional outlet for my own experiences and feelings.
But I am very much fine however people interpret this. Everyone can see their own version. And I think that's the beauty of videos like this!

@@btloov That all makes sense! You're perfectly within your right to keep the private aspects private, so thank you for your reply. The vid paints a concrete story while keeping the themes open to interpretation, so you really succeeded in your goal, imo. Take care 👋
