    Would not surprise me in the slightest if Bryce Young goes on to have a better career than Caleb Williams. The Panthers have quietly been making big moves. That O Line is going to look very different this year. I think Canales will get the best out of Bryce. Right philosophy, right personality, right offensive mind, right coach, right time.

      As I keep pointing out to people, Williams is 100% a product of the media. He's 100% projected from his college tape, right? & Fields is a bust?
      But seen side to side ruclips.net/video/5JO1PsupF_U/видео.html Fields is *clearly* better. It's not even close. While Fields has two passes where his placement could have been better by inches without even being pressured Williams whiffs so badly the receivers have to stop dead & wait for the ball to come down. Those _will be_ INTs in the NFL.
      Fields is a better rusher & FAR MORE accurate passer. So Williams is actually inferior in talent to someone regarded as a complete bust. Or as media calls him, "Generational."

    The reason is simple really. Reich is well respected by the media, and Tepper is highly disliked. Theres still talking heads in tv that think Reich should still be the coach. That’s laughable. Reich looked like he was literally trying to get fired. Also, it’s the size. People refuse to believe that football is not basketball; meaning if you can play then you CAN PLAY, regardless of size.

      The problem is that's all a very either/or view based on the inability of most people to juggle two thoughts. Not three. "Is the QB good or bad" is One Question/Thought. "Was coaching a factor" is another. & I notice that even analysts have trouble finishing two sentences where they retain both. Tepper was impatient. As an owner he needs to Sell Tickets & Merch. So waiting another year for a QB wasn't an option for that POV.
      Separately from this one RUclipsr did a video isolating what Young & Stroud do before bad play-calling &/or lack of on-field talent ended plays. As we all thought in the preseason, they are indistinguishable down to footwork. Young has all the good technique & football intelligence needed to make it in the NFL. He doesn't have a good roster yet.
      I wish NFL fans could be More Patient. We don't need to know today if he'll be good 3 years from now.

  • @imranak

    I think you can tell alot from a QB's rookie year
    To your point Trevor Lawrence, after 3 years, doesn't look like he's the generaltional talent that was promised to be, he's been somewhat of a dissapointment TBH. I believe he looks to be behind Burrow, Allen, Lamar, Herbert, maybe Stroud and of course Mahomes and that's just AFC QBs.
    So the question is to me regarding BY is he going to be Zach Wilson/Kenny Picket bust bad or is he going to be Kirk Cousins/Baker Mayfield/Trevor Lawrence meh...there is no superstar future MVP arc.
    In an era where Partick Mahomes exists that matters.
    Either way he will be in hindsight a disappoinment.
    Furthermore (no fault of BY i guess) he came out the same year as Stroud and Anthony Richarson, we know what Stroud did, and if Anthony Richardson avoids injury looks like he can have a Cam Newton-esque career arc.
    Trevor Lawence on the other hand came out where he is not burdened by a same year draft class QB who is having a superior career. Every other QB in his draft class is no longer with his original team, which falsely enhances the perception of him.
    Finally it's safe to say that Bryce Young is the worst QB ever from a physical measureables standpoint and Trevor Lawrence is litterally on the opposite end of the spectrum, fair or not that matters from an least an optics standpoint. Sorry to say but you did gloss over this fact.

      Hey great insight man. Really appreciate the thoughtfulness.
      Really valid points. Gonna push back on the superstar MVP arc not being a possibility though. This kind of plays right into what I’m saying; you don’t THINK it’s possible he has that arc, and you may very well end up being right, but unless you’re the first legitimate psychic I’ve come across, the jury is very much out on this.
      Secondly, my only point with the whole argument was to show the difference in narrative despite nearly identical RESULTS in their rookie seasons. You’re correct I glossed over the physical traits element, because of course I assumed that was a given. I think it’s deeper than that though.
      Lastly, it’s great CJ balled last year and Richardson showed Cam-esk flashes, but let’s neither of us pretend those guys were evaluated above Bryce leading into the draft.
      This is less of a “what do I THINK Bryce’s career will be?” video, and more of a “I need to see more like I did with Trevor, before I say bust.” Video.
      Thanks for watching man, really appreciate the comment.

    I’ve been calling it for a while but the panthers will be MUCH better with Dave and Dan this year and I’m talking playoff or wildcards.. Most media people bring up how bad the panthers were last year, but they skipped how MOST of them had the panthers as “Show ins to win the NFC South” last year..

    Okay people don't realize when you have a goofy owner that thinks. "Oh i can build a NFL team with a small quarterback".
    News flash NFL fans when have you seen a Alabama qb do good in the NFL ? Tua can't win against good teams and Jaylen Hurts transfered, so don't count him. But I'll wait for a answer. 🤔

    • @putmeincoachpod2024
      @putmeincoachpod2024  7 месяцев назад

      I hear what you're saying, but Tua is 39-19 in his career, so he's done at least decent. I think sometime around 2017 Saban starting recruiting QB's differently. He was looking for guys that could make them unstoppable, rather than just pocket guys who could execute. So, Bama doesn't have a history of great NFL talent at the QB position but even to your point, Hurts transferred after Tua took over. Both are very good in the NFL. Tua isn't elite, but a guy who can win you 64% of your games is nothing to scoff at either.

    I'm not sure who it is that's trying to "cover their asses" by wanting Young to fail. Looks to me like Tepper and his top people don't want to become the Vikings in the "new Herschel Walker trade." After all, if they're so confident everything is going to plan then why'd they dump Frank Reich and Fitterer after one season? The whole draft of 2023 and trading up with a 1st round pick would not look that bad if Stroud hadn't been so brilliant in his rookie season. I see folks on here chirping about Young being better than Caleb Williams. They should be ecstatic if Young turns out to be as good as Stroud.

    • @putmeincoachpod2024
      @putmeincoachpod2024  7 месяцев назад

      They were covering their asses in the media as it pertained to Trevor, both Bryce. The lack of covering up and explaining away Bryce’s bad rookie year, has to do with the fact that he wasn’t a media darling. Does this make sense?

    I don’t think it’s necessarily due to media narrative I think when you’re comparing their rookie’s seasons it comes down to much better physical traits for Lawrence. Bryce is small doesn’t have a plus arm and struggled. Lawrence is in a different stratosphere from a tools standpoint. It’s a lot easier to think you can fix the 6’6 guy with a cannon than the guy who’s 5’10 with an average arm. It really just comes down to physical intangibles

    • @putmeincoachpod2024
      @putmeincoachpod2024  7 месяцев назад

      That’s part of it for sure, but I disagree in totality. I think the talking heads were VERY invested in Trevor hitting well before he was drafted, similar to Caleb this past year. That same investment was not given to Bryce, therefore him failing or succeeding isn’t all that relevant to them either way.
