I think its a good entry level drone. A nice starter for someone. At $152 Its affordable. As I am commenting its now 21% off so $120. I think the follow me mode should be tested out in a more open area. No idea what the manufacture has set up for a follow me mode distance. The return to home was a little odd if you ask me. It didn't rotate 180° is just flew backwards. That was an extremely gentle landing though. Nice review as always. Thanks guys.

You need to try follow me mode on bigger field because it is not active track it is gps tracking, that means you need to calibrate compas on phone and have good gps on phone...
It's the same drone as the Bugs 5W with just a few tweaks to the canopy, RC is exactly the same, Batteries are exactly the same. All the same features...etc. Now I'm wondering how this channel reviewed the Bugs 5W review? UPDATE: I just reviewed THIS channel's review of the the Bugs 5w (again which is the the same drone as the Bugs 5W): - REVIEW RESULTS: He gave Bugs 5w an ENTHUSIASTIC thumbs up and yet he gave the Epik a thumbs down. What? Maybe because he couldn't get the follow mode to work? Every other reviewer had no problem with the Follow-me function....must have been user error (as someone else below pointed out).
Jjpro x5 follow me feature will work to following the remote controller, not the object. So, you must put yourself and grab the remote in the spot of the camera, once you activate the mode, and the drone will follow you.
A great review. Disappointed that the follow me didn’t work but for a less expensive starter drone it would do. And I want to thank you for your part in the Jim Hightower project. You do so much for the drone community and RC community, that I was humbled that you took time for that. It meant a lot to me that so many people were involved in it. Thanks so very much. The original Bugs 2 and 3, still perform much better with a longer 1,000 + meter range and apparently, a better gps. But, without features like follow me..
Thank you for the honest review. I watched a different youtuber praising the quality and workmanship of this piece a crap drone. Plus he had it priced at $169.00! You did mention the short flight time so I wanted to remind you also of the 4.5 hour charge time via the USB charger. When you consider it takes about 20.7 mins. of charging to receive 1 min. of Flight Time the only explanation is the craftsmanship is crap.
I really like the idea that you can remove the camera and fly by sight if u need ( also helps with difficult neighbours that would complain about privacy and such ) . Yes, u can find those Phantom style drones , but for some reason I really do not like those looks. Any idea how much it weighs without the camera ?

I just got this drone and it flew good for a few minutes then the throttle went to full power for some reason. Now it goes full power with just a nudge of the control. Any idea what is causing this? I tried calibrating the controller numerous times to no avail. Thanks

I’m Just getting into RC stuff at the ripe old age of 68. I purchased a 3 channel park flyer and then decided to buy a drone. I saw many reviews, including this one on the JJPro x5, and thought this had some good features to start with. It came with just a basic charger and after doing some homework, I bought the Venom pro duo. Now I find out that the batteries are proprietary and the store guys said the venom would not work with them. Is that true? I bought a tester to tell me the battery state, but how do I balance and storage charge them? I like the drone so far btw and plan to buy a good beginning plane by Spring.
Is the batteries interchangeable with the bugs 5w? What is the average distance you can get with jjrc x5 fpv before it cuts out, and does it record video even when fpv cuts out and loses signal, thanxs

Mine flies like a dream; follow me functions properly (methinks that you require a slightly larger airspace and like others have said, GPS tracking needs to be enabled on your cellular telephone handset). I love the living tweedle out of mine!!! :-)

My X5 lost control 2 times in two weeks. The last time was fatal as it splashed down in a creek. I had full control in line of site when it suddenly took off on its own. Anyone else have flyaway with this drone or the bugs5w ?
I have not had that problem, but two thoughts - one is that you may have just flown out of range - how far away was the drone? Second is the batteries in your TX may have been getting weak - maybe check those to make sure they were not dying.
For the $$ this is a great drone we have 3 of them they all work flawlessly. If you have problems with the app and 5g mjxrc.com download app and chose bugs 2se. You moved the drone from where you calibrated it so dont expect a pinpoint landing.
From a toy drone this would be a serious step up, but I agree the Bugs 2 and Bugs 3 pro do everything that little bit better, although I have flown neither to date. A great review as always

My last drone crashed & her pet Poodle tried climbing up a tree after it hit. Lol... I just got mine from Ebay today... Probably some outdated model knowing Ebay but we want to do some winter scape vids out over our watershed area reservoir here. Lots of wild life not enough drone folks interested enough in taking part of monitoring our eco system monitor the wild life that is left around here. Recently a GREY goose came by injured pretty good. Not a Canadian goose these guys stay here for our winters alot like domestic ducks and geese. The big dude had an injury and nearly ran me over as I was about to go to the store. I actually opened my truck door and tossed him in the back seat. He did the 25 or so minutes without peeing or poop till I got back from the market. This dude rode shotgun talking to me about a FOX bite he had in his wing and rear section. So I wanna keep an eye on wild life around here. This guy found me all I did was walk out my door. He is fine went to Penn State labs for rehab. They R dropping him off here on Friday afternoon...
Just unboxed my new JJRC X5 EPIK drone from GearBest. After powering up the drone, I used the gimbal button to adjust the camera up and down. After the camera adjusted down, IT IS STUCK! The motor just hums if I attempt to adjust it. I am returning this defective product.

The follow me feature works but you have to be holding the controller not the phone
In order for follow to work, your phone needs to have GPS or location services turned on. Otherwise Follow cannot work. Probably your problem.

I think it follows the phone. it doesnt lock onto an image. I saw that in a different review. next time try it with the app on and your phone on you.

That's sucks ... The active track of my Mavic air is great but in this type of drone the active track is bad (and I know my friend has it)

I just got the 2k model and the features worked great. The charge time is really long, but mine has 2,400mah battery too.
I lost my X5 this weekend. It lost contact with the controller and did not return to home as it's supposed to. Anyone have a similar experience?

I do believe that the phone and controller are considered to be one unit while in follow me mode. Your son looked to have only the phone.

This is a late comment! But with your X5, do you have a delay in your FPV? Or is that just mine...
Yes - they use wifi for the signal and it is very laggy. Regular FPV uses 5.8 Ghz analogue signal - it's less sharp, but much less laggy.

You need a modern Samsung or iPhone. Nothing else works.
