Farmrail in HO Scale - Clinton Switching Layout

- My recently dismantled switching layout, based on the Palmetto Spur project layout from Lance Mindheim's "How to Build a Switching Layout." This layout depicted a slice of an industrial park just south of Clinton, OK on the Farmrail System. The industrial park serves a variety of oilfield suppliers for the Anadarko Basin. This was an incredibly fun model railroad to build, hope you enjoy!
This proves you don't have to have a huge layout to enjoy model railroading. Excellent video - great layout.
Absolutely! Its amazing what can be done with the hobby in a limited space. Thanks for watching!
Nice concept. Shelf layouts in all scales might becoming more popular.
Great layout and weathering on the rolling stock. Thanks for sharing.
Man this is just what I have been searching for! Awesome vid, perfect layout. Very well done!
Hi Alex, Great video. Glad to see you posting an operations video on your layout. It just shows how much fun you can have with switching a small layout. The video of the prototype was a real bonus and shows that not all trains are 100 cars long. I look forward to your next video.-Tom
Thanks so much Tom!
Great video Alex! Your layout has been very inspiring, while sad to see this one go I can’t wait to see your next creation. Thank you for sharing!
I'm in Cordell, so I had planned to base my layout on something local like this with Farmrail, thanks for the inspiration.
Thank you for the new video. This is a wonderfully done layout. I understand it’s in the middle of being replaced and I’m interested to see what you develop next.
Wit the wall it looks like a bunch of fog I love it
I was going for a bit of a hazy look, so I'm glad it turned out ok!
This is a small switching layout with plenty of upside. I may check back to see what you have in store for the future.
Just what I'm looking for. Switching from N scale to Ho and wanted a smaller layout to get started with .
So cool! Thanks for sharing
I love your concept. Very cool indeed.
Thank you!
Badass dude!! I love it!!
Your Hays wheel stops on the first spur are backwards. Otherwise great layout! Shapeways makes a great model of a mobile belt unloader that is perfect for unloading frac sand.
I really love your switching layout. Awesome....would love to see more when you expand. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!!
Hmmm.... this is an HO layout I actually have enough space for! OTOH, I switched over to N scale when I came back to the hobby, and will continue with it.
I'm in the planning stages for a new pike, and while I designed a door-sized layout with a few industries I'm strongly leaning towards a shelf-sized switching layout. Now to get off my butt and start building something...
Very nice layout. Well thought out. Who makes the song you used in the opening?
Aaron Watson - great country music artist from Texas!
This was a nice layout! Looking forward to what you have planned for the next layout. I'm in Tuttle Okla, Enjoyed it and thanks for sharing
I love this layout! Love these small switching layouts, and you’ve certainly done a fantastic job! Who makes those hoppers that are shown in the consist at :018 sec into the video?
Looking forward to the next update!
Thanks! They're by Spring Mills Depot. An excellent company, and the cars are top notch!
I used to deliver chicken by product meal to the dog food plant there
I'd like to include that plant on a future layout; its an opportunity to have more grain hoppers on the layout, but in smaller numbers and with more frequency than a grain elevator would have.
I see Farmrail a lot when I visit my in-laws. Glad they didn't lose any grain in the Farmrail derailment at Bessie last summer.
Great video and very nice sound on the gP-9
I railfan these guys in Altus.
Cool little layout! Awesome
Excellent
Thank you!
Great work, Alex.
Where did you find the yellow handle ground throws, they look so neat? love your layout!
Its by NJ International. Its been sold out for a long time.
Cannot wait to see what you create next!!!!!!!!
Check out my channel and see the latest Farmrail layout, its coming along nicely if I may say so myself.
Well done.
Thanks!
