- Take a closer look at operations on the layout. In this video, we will share some information and details on an Asheville-based local, NS P87, which services the S-line and the industries on it. Today, the locals work includes picking up woodchip cars at Old Fort and bringing them back to Asheville yard. The sounds in this video are from the decoders with some ambient and railcar noises overlaid. Thanks for watching!

Put the paper mill near the bathroom for that authentic paper mill smell.
Or just have a dog take a crap on the table
@@krrrruptidsoless LOL
you know paper mills don't smell that good
@@750suzuki I'm guessing that's maybe his point lol
@@750suzuki Yeah! Jacksonville FL has three of them! Welcome the the Sunshine State. pee-uew
The sound editing in this is stellar. This is so realistic its crazy
Thanks Daniel! - Josh
You know that the sounds are from the engines them selves
@@pennsylvanianrailfan yes ik that its pretty obvious. It was in reference to the timing of it.
@Ettore Milesi oh the engines play bird sounds and other background sounds? Intersting.....
@Ettore Milesi yes ik it was sarcasm...
Been watching this layout evolve over the years and couldn’t be more impressed. Now however I’m equally blown away by your photography and your narrative skills. Can’t wait to see more.
almost thought i was watching a real train there, so much of your layout is done that well.
Thanks! Appreciate the kind words. - Josh
I cant even expresshow much I am fascinated by all of this. Thanks for all of the cool videos.
Especially liked the closeups where you could see the rotating bearing caps on the diesels. Sound of the brake squeal on the hoppers as they are going down grade, nice touch. More please.
Fantastic example of fine modelling. Greetings from England. 👍👍👍👍👍🇬🇧🇺🇸🏴👍
Thanks. Greetings back from both Josh and I.👍😁
The camera angles, narration, and flange squeal were spot on!
Love the realistic look with the darkness thinking that it is night time keep up the good work with your models.
This is the example of the perfect layout! The only thing that gives it away are the stationay cars in the roads! Can you imagine if they were moving?!
That lighted, detailed cab interior is spectacular. Great work!
1:34 I love how detailed that yard office area is!
A great video of a great layout... the attention to detail is terrific... now if I can just get my track cleaned.......
I’m always impressed by your layout videos...but this one really stood out. I love how you captured the feel of Railfanning and train chasing on a model route while explaining everything as if it was real. Thumbs up for sure!
After all your videos detailing the progress on the layout it's nice to just see trains running. I really loved your narration of what was happening with the train as it progressed round the layout.
U guys deserve an award 4 that layout its beyond perfect
Fantastic Layout and Great Narration of all the Action 👍👍👌👏🙂
1:34 looks like a real train! Keep at it man, ur trains and layout are awesome
Ikr
Fantastic! I loved the little details . . . like the ice freezer and its frosty font.
Outstanding realism and video production
Wow!! Just Wow!! Outstanding modeling and superb photography. I have so many questions. I wish I would have known someone like you growing up. lol
The number lights on every unit drives this engineer nuts!! Great model layout!
I love, love, love your layout, its so real looking and working. Thanks for sharing!
very nice. The narration adds a lot of dimension to the video. Lots of fun, thanks.
Beautiful video to show night railroading.
Awesome work. I like the safety lights on the NS locomotives.
Another favorite. Your narration and camera skills make viewers think this is how the real lines do daily operations. Because anybody can just run the trains in the sense of 'playing with toys' and yet what you do is so much more than that. The lighting used to depict pre-dawn darkness and sunrise are quite natural. You are exceptionally creative.
I really enjoyed this video! The realism & attention to detail is fantastic.
Great job enjoy operations a reason for the Railroad - Thnx for sharing..
Great video. Thanks for posting this. Have a nice day.
Nice video. Liking the blues.
I am a big fan of the channel.
Unreal!!! Incredible video! Keep them coming please!
Unbelievable, awesome, fantastic. Just wonderful.. Normally I find operation videos a little boring, but with you explaining how it all works that make it so much better.
Thanks James!
Imagine how fun this would be to operate!
Sweet! Really liked tagging along with the crew.
Wow! Just like watching the real thing. Impressive.

Excellent job my friend! Very well explained!
Spectacular video. Thanks for sharing
You are a great narrator!
Why do I even bother working on my layout. 😢
You guys have done a fabulous job with lighting & scenery! Loved the video.
Please dont give up. I'm sure ur sht will be good to new veiwers of utube that have nevr seen model railroads before.
Very detailed layout and great information!
That’s a lot of power for only about 20 or so empty chip hoppers 😉
Our class 2 here in Maine runs 3-4 EMD Geeps on the two north- and southbound trains with about 50-70 cars. The most common rail commodities for the paper mills are boxcars for paper rolls, tank cars of calcium slurry and various chemicals, and bulkhead flats with pulpwood. Most of the chips come in by truck but I’ve seen a few cars of chips. Outstanding video work! Sound editing was great and the angles are great as well
The detail is incredible and the sound effects are perfect 👌 wow!
Very realistic young man. You do fine work! Enjoy your youth, it fades sooooo fast!
Excellent presentation of your beautiful layout and operations from a ground level spotting perspective. I like the area from Spencer to Ashville with the mixed freight trains.
Wow this is so good !!!! Tx for all that Work !!! amazinggg!!!!
I a impressed with the scale motor vehicles on the layout! I am further impressed with the realistic HO railroad engines, cars and scenery. Wonderful job 👏 Wish I was able to have my Dad watch this, as he never got to finish his model railroad in the basement.
Those are some nice engines they look so good! I love the way that the locomotive is able to hook up to the cars without you having to do it manually.
Excellent video. The narration and videography is perfect. Thanks!
Just an amazing layout everything is perfect 👌🏻
Nice presentation. Enjoyed it a lot.
Great camera angles. Great job all around. I've driven working steam (Pt Kembla steelworks Australia) and diesel. You seem to know your beeswax. Very enjoyable. Thanks again.
RUclips needs more videos like these 😁
Thanks! :) I'll keep em coming
The weathering and graffiti on the rolling stock... Amazing!!

Wow Very Nice 🎩🎩 off to you and Your Dad 👍🏻🙏🏼
Looks so real, especially the signal lighting!
Beautiful, detailed and scenic’d layout. Great locos. Superb production and narrative. Interesting and informative. What’s not to love? Absolutely nothing. Great job. Thanks. See you again.
It's just amazing love the layout!
This is the most impressive layout I have ever seen! You are truly gifted. The sounds of steel to steel and the air compressor and brakes are incredible. I used to build those NFS locomotives at progress rail. I dropped the generator, engine and compressor. Aligned them and mounted them after alignment. It was a fun job. Your work on this layout brought me back, Nice work!
I cant believe the level of detail on the weathered gondolas
You have a kickass layout! Awesome work
Thanks!
Howdy! I'm a Foreman with NS and I can say I've never seen anyone do such a great job like you did and you got everything spot on I'm over the territory from Asheville - Morristown so keep the great work up!!
Wow, amazing scenery! Especially the weathering of the track and rails in the city area and great lighting too!
I really like the narration! Nice video too! I also love the realistic looks of NS!
Absolutely loved it! Can’t express it enough! Thank you very much!

So realistic, very nice job, also love the functional railroad crossing too.
Other than the excellent model you tell stories!
This is unique, fantastic the realism is great 100%👍!
Absolutely amazing video. Would love to see more of these. Maybe longer videos showing routes of the whole layout. Keep being awesome.
Thanks Justin! I'll keep them coming.
this is so calming and satisfying, a good reminder during these times of order and normality.
Absolutely awesome video Josh, definitely top of my like list of model railroad operation video. The cam locations were perfect the the overlaid sounds had me right there in the scenes

I wish that I could like this video more than once. This was my third time watching it. You have really captured the look, feel & sound of the prototype! I love getting a notification when you upload a new video! Keep up the great work!
Really enjoy seeing operations on y'all's layout. I moved to NC a couple years ago and really like visiting the Asheville area. The scenery looks pretty great!
