- The Arturia MicroBrute is a really cool minisynth. It also has a very useful on-board sequencer. These are eight sequences from classic electronic songs, done on the MicroBrute. Of course, they could be improved by adding effects, but I wanted to show the sonic character of the synth by itself.
as much as I love the minibrute 2 for the second oscillator, there’s something really special about these microbrutes. they’re just SO percussive and intense. I really miss mine and want to get another one.
I'm definitely getting one for sure.Amazing sounding synth, on Blue Monday I was wow what a fat bass line.
OMG Under Mi Sleng Teng made me grin from ear to ear. I'm sold on this thing immediately
Thanks for sharing. I am currently studying how to shape sounds on the Minibrute. It helps that you have not used any delay and reverb unit to improve the sound. It helps me to confirm that I am getting the sound shaped right. Later on I can add more effects to enrich it.
This video was really awesome and i nearly cried laughing when i saw elektronik supersonic!
Thanks, glad you liked that one, if all human beings on Earth had a sense of humor, our civilization would be 1,000 years ahead, IMHO.

Very informative video, thank you, you opened my eyes to synthesizers
Awesome blue monday sounded excellent!
Nice job on the demo. No talking, just playing!
this is amazing 🗣🎶🤩 loving the sounds of the microbrute. this is very inspirational
Awesome sequencing and awesome sounding synth, especially for it's price! I wish I could see more microbrute videos on your channel.
Hey!! Wow, that is awesome!! My favourite is "Blue Monday" - sounds so cool!! :) Thanks for sharing!! ;)
Under Mi Sleng Teng reminds me of Ferris Bueller's Day Off the song "Love Missle F1-11" by Sigue Sigue Sputnik. Cool video!
Your the first demo I really liked ,your intune with this device ,great work
You wonder why the synth companies themselves can't come up with useful demos like this! Thanks for sharing.
Hey Synthmania, your videos are great ! Would it be possible for you to explain how to add the rests when making sequences ? I think would be the same for the bass station 2 which has a 32 steps seq ?
Thanks !
Thanks! Here you go: ruclips.net/video/-aHYws2V2ls/видео.html
It's the button that says "rest".
Elektronik Supersonik! YES!
Long Live Molvania!
Rhythmicons Hello Love Crusader
Awesome man, I just bought the minibrute and learning it.
Can you do a video maybe on how you do these?
Sounds cool.🔥❤️🎹
On the Run!!!!! omfg, and all the others! Great job here! I feel love for my Brutes!
damn. I was pretty sold on the monologue because it approaches a classic Korg sound better than I thought arturia approached any classic sounds, but moments on here made me think of the edp wasp, which I love, but with broader capabilities. thanks for bringing me back to the point of indecision again, jerk ;-)
I'm guessing you probably ended up getting the Behringer Wasp when that came out?
Elektronik Supersonik is a CLASSIC electronic sequence? LOL, a good one!
Awesome demo, although "Save a Prayer" doesn't sound right without the dotted-8th delay. lol
Kyle Tekaucic yes, like Sirius by Alan Parsons Project. And he needs to change the key low
Kyle Tekaucic exactly it didn't sound as "save a prayer"
No. 2 made me feel stoned from ancient memory.
New to the scene. Glad to see the community considers a Dark Side track to be a classic!
Excellent demo vid!
Can this thing do more mellow and warm sounds too?
Very nicely done. best demo I've seen of this synth yet
T4C MiniBrute is excellent synth:-)
You're really good, buddy! / Sei bravissimo, ciccio!
Nice sequences! 👍
Can you do U-Boat by Kasabian? It has a really great sequence to it. Thanks!
I Love it! All you need is a great sequence
Wait, first sequence, I feel love
How is it going that fast when the sequencer tempo is so slow?
It's flashing once for every four notes?
Really good demo
Hi mate, thanks for your videos! are very interesting and with very good information class, I am gratefuly for your support by videos sessions class. Well now my asking it's about micribrute, will be possible uses samplers like a voices or songs? and so controling by or from arturia's switches?
thanks before hand

Haha, that is brilliant, well done mate. You have inspired me to have fun with my MicroBrute today !!
And ........................ Ive never heard of Elektronik Supersonik before, watching the video now and Laughing Out Loud !!
So COOL! Besides the usual popular favs, I especially like the fact that you included 'Save a Prayer' in here, I dont see that often in synth demos.. it'd sound even better with a bit of delay too. Thanks for putting this up!
Now knowing that its a setting in the software that makes things so much easier!
Excelente gracias por su tecnología Arturia. SALUDOS DE Perú.
Is the intro from something? I've heard it in Kitchen Dub by RQ.
I just made a simple video with "the robots" sequence , some days ago, with my 'Brute. Slighty different from your sequence (one note less at the end of sequence).
I like the sound of "blue monday" sequence. Last year I did a complete cover of "On the run", but with Volca Keys. I used different note from you, found them on a Pink Floyd documentary, where Gilmour played live on synth (I copied the note sequence he played)
Awesome!
Thanks!
@synthmania how do have the mod matrix setup? I really need to learn how to use that.
AWESOME!!!!! My favourite is "Blue Monday". Maybe you can try Shannon's "Let the Music Play" synth bass. a Roland TB-303 was used. I wonder if the Microbrute can come close to it.
Excellent effort on all eight but can't help feeling some might have benefitted from slightly increased portamento/delay, particularly #4 Save A Prayer and possibly #1 I Feel Love
I already knew anything by kraftwerk was gonna be in here, i love them!
Did Casio rip off the "Under Mi Sleng Teng" bass line for one of their own one-finger chord patterns?
The other way around - he used a Casio.
SynthMania The Casio MT-40 to be exact. This song always makes me smile, since the MT-40 was the first electronic keyboard I purchased. The MT-40 used analog circuits for its sound.
Hi PAUL, I really like your videos & find them helpful & informative, I’ve only just got into playing synths & have a basic understanding of them. I have seen two versions of this video one with the sequence playing but I have also seen another with the sequenced notes under the song title ie A B A# etc. But I cannot locate it again for some reason ? Has it been deleted ? I can read music but trying to play notes by ear is not something I am any good at yet. Neil.
Hi Neil, thank you very much, yes, there used to be the notes as overlays that I added to each pattern, but RUclips has recently phased out those types of overlays and they no longer appear, unfortunately
@@SynthManiaDotCom are those info somewhere else?
Great video! It gives me hope LOL
This arturia is giving all the analogs a run for their money
This is an analogue....
Hi, synthmani for your post, but please, could do you put a new video or explanition about that WHICH ARE THE NOTES for each sequencer? thanks...maybe, text over the same video...thnx and great synthmania.
+Armando Puentes Sure, I will put the notes over the video
+Armando Puentes I added the notes.
+SynthMania You are a great guy...thanks you very much.
Hello, I saw that you added the notes for the sequences over top of the video but I can't seem to find them. There are no captions or anything from what I can see, is there any other info you could share, I just bought a Microbrute. Thanks!
I HAVE SOME DOUBTS, if I'm in a concert, I have a sequenced bass and the song sigt should have a lead sequenced with the same mic. How could I do? redo everything there same and there are ways to save a preset?? ... Interval is the same as transposition?
You can save up to eight sequences (each of up to 64 steps). If that's your question - you can simply switch the knob at every song
How do you get the notes to sustain/lock when not playing the keys?
ruclips.net/video/9GQqIYU_0nk/видео.html
@@SynthManiaDotCom number one!!!
damn!
the filter is so good!!
Hello! Great video, Blue Monday and Electronic Supersonic are my favourites^^
Could you please hint, how you’re making your Microbrute “Hold” the note?
Sure! Here you go: ruclips.net/video/9GQqIYU_0nk/видео.html
@@SynthManiaDotCom Many thanks!!
Very welcome
Démo splendide, Bravo
thanks i like sequences like that !
great job! Nice
Dan Patrick Oh hello J.R. Bob Dobbs. Are you the same channel I saw on a different video?
Can you plug bigger midi keyboard to it?
Yes
Giorgio by moroder?
hey man. i don't know if you still using this synth in your music.. just wanted to ask a question - is there a way to record the sequencer in real-time (non-step programming) ?
Hi, nop, there's no real-time
Under Mi Sleng Teng reminds me of "It's not right" by Devo.
I was thinking the same thing.
LuckyFlesh it's actually copied from a preset baseline on the Casio mt-40, but it does sound a lot like its not right
Thanks for naming it. I could hear Devo there too.
Lucky They all sound like Devo to me
it’s also “Caress Me Down” by Sublime
ahhh that was refreshing Sleng Teng from the original Casio...music to my ears.
Hi Synthmania, this sound i really love. I'm having to make a choice between Novation Bass Station 2 and Arturia Microbrute. This is the sound i want it to be able to do. Can Bass Station 2 do the same sound as this? i'd love to hear from you, greetings Patricio
+beatleneil The Bass Station is a bit different from the Arturia but it's certainly a great-sounding machine too - you cannot go wrong with it
+SynthMania thanks a lot for answering. As i understand you are basically saying that they both sound good. Does that then mean, in your opinion, that it doesn't matter which one i choose, since they are both capable to reach the same result soundwise? greetings Patricio
Is the brute good for warm clean sub Bass?
+synthmania but how do you record notes with intervals into sequencer ?
how dyou program the basslines into the synth?
Cool! You know your stuff, as always ... :-)
I think I would like a MiniBrute?
Could you do Mr X by Ultravox? Then i know if this machine is good for me (i know you are not the seller)
How exactly are you getting the sequences to play without holding a key down? I'm willing to be it's a changeable firmware setting, but alas, I do not have a USB cable for my brute
Yes, you can turn that function on or off from the software. Just get the USB cable.
Congratulations!
Possibly stupid question - did you have to change the ARP to a Sequencer via the SYSEX command change and if so is this safe to do? How do you actually then program the note patterns? Can you help?
Phil, the MicroBrute doesn't have an arpeggiator, it only has a step sequencer. For more info on how to program the notes, you might be interested in these other two video I made on the MicroBrute sequencer on public demand: ruclips.net/video/-aHYws2V2ls/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/9GQqIYU_0nk/видео.html
Thank you very much for replying, keep up the great videos :)
You nailed it Dude 😬🤗
Awesome
yeah, nice song choices!
Robots last four notes are one octave down .
Thank you so much
I found myself whistling the melody to Come Together by Primal Scream over that Elektronik Supersonik riff! (it fits)
Me 48 seconds ago: I just want to know if he does On the Run.
Me now: YES.
What are the preset positions for The Robots? I cant tell where the mod matrix wires go
Hey synthmania. Quick question, I'm getting one of these for Christmas and I was wondering if I needed to plug in a computer or if I can just play it by itself. I don't have a computer. Respond ASAP
ASAP, huh? You must be a very busy guy. OK: you can play it by itself without a computer. But in order to change some advanced parameters on the synth (like, for example, the sequencer latch, the note priority, or the MIDI channel), you will need a computer because you access those via the "MicroBrute Connection Software/Firmware" editor: www.arturia.com/microbrute/resources
SynthMania thank you so much!
You're very welcome
On the Robots when I tap rest once its too short and when I tap twice its too long. Any suggestions?
Sounds very SID like at times doesn't it? May need one of these. lol
Minibrute or Roland Sh1 - a
Which is the best
Do you share your Microbrute sequences and settings anywhere?
When playing, how did you make it hold the sequence? did you just press the key and it did it?
Download the MicroBrute software. It lets you change how the sequencer works
What notes did you use for On The Run? I'd love to recreate that patch with my Microbrute if you could help me.
There used to be overlays in this video that I added with all the notes for each pattern. Unfortunately RUclips has removed those types of overlays now. The way I did it, I used an audio editor to slow down the sequence, and jotted down the notes by ear. Maybe someone has written them down in the comments too.
What techniques do you use to create such close sounds to those of the 80s? Trying to capture that decade in my music
Uses his ears I should imagine. :-/
Good demo.
I noticed when you change chord the timing sometimes goes off if you don't get it right. Is there a way round this?
I don't have a microbrute but couldn't you just lay the midi notes out in the daw and it's sorted?
Cool video but that On the Run sequence sounded nothing like the original. Correct sequence. But the sound was waaaay off.
i LOVE Moskow Diskow. So so much.
Is this good synth for beginners?
Out of all the synths I played, this synth is probably the most easiest and most fun!
seems with this modern tool cheaply some classic sounds can be recreated, but alltogether seems not much varied
It would be nice to be able to see the setting, but they just missed the camera angle.
I have a minibrute. I'm putting all the settings as they appear on video, but it sounds different. Any idea why?
+Esteban Sanchez Oeconomo because this is a 'micro'brute?
yeah right, I meant microbrute! I think it was because I didn't patch.
I had the same problem, did you figure it out because I would like to know too
+Henry Bull Lyon yes, I had the problem the day I bought the MB so I didn't knew how to use it. I didn't patch de mod matrix, that was all.
Wait, can the stuttering part from the second part of Blue Monday be done?
Yes
make a part 2 includet sigue sigue sputnik love missile f1 -11
sensacional muito bacana mesmo
My favourite arpeggio bass line, Der Mussolini by DAF.
If only I knew how to play it.

great !
