Eight classic electronic sequences with Arturia MicroBrute

  • The Arturia MicroBrute is a really cool minisynth. It also has a very useful on-board sequencer. These are eight sequences from classic electronic songs, done on the MicroBrute. Of course, they could be improved by adding effects, but I wanted to show the sonic character of the synth by itself.

as much as I love the minibrute 2 for the second oscillator, there’s something really special about these microbrutes. they’re just SO percussive and intense. I really miss mine and want to get another one.

Thanks for sharing. I am currently studying how to shape sounds on the Minibrute. It helps that you have not used any delay and reverb unit to improve the sound. It helps me to confirm that I am getting the sound shaped right. Later on I can add more effects to enrich it.

I just made a simple video with "the robots" sequence , some days ago, with my 'Brute. Slighty different from your sequence (one note less at the end of sequence).
I like the sound of "blue monday" sequence. Last year I did a complete cover of "On the run", but with Volca Keys. I used different note from you, found them on a Pink Floyd documentary, where Gilmour played live on synth (I copied the note sequence he played)

Hi PAUL, I really like your videos & find them helpful & informative, I’ve only just got into playing synths & have a basic understanding of them. I have seen two versions of this video one with the sequence playing but I have also seen another with the sequenced notes under the song title ie A B A# etc. But I cannot locate it again for some reason ? Has it been deleted ? I can read music but trying to play notes by ear is not something I am any good at yet. Neil.

ASAP, huh? You must be a very busy guy. OK: you can play it by itself without a computer. But in order to change some advanced parameters on the synth (like, for example, the sequencer latch, the note priority, or the MIDI channel), you will need a computer because you access those via the "MicroBrute Connection Software/Firmware" editor: www.arturia.com/microbrute/resources

There used to be overlays in this video that I added with all the notes for each pattern. Unfortunately RUclips has removed those types of overlays now. The way I did it, I used an audio editor to slow down the sequence, and jotted down the notes by ear. Maybe someone has written them down in the comments too.
