This is interesting because this I think in this performance they take it back to their early Philly roots. They’ve talked about their jam sessions as roommates @Temple University on weekend nights. Cool stuff🎶

Hall & Oates are amazing live performers - even now. They have a HUGE collection of hits, definitely starting in the seventies.

IKR Empress, I didn't know he sang like that either, and playing guitar at the same time?!? Oates had some oats for breakfast that day haha

These guys sound great live. This is one of their earliest hits, and features rare lead (or co-lead) vocals by John Oates. Nice choice and reaction! Take care Empress ☮️✌️

First time I've really SEEN John Oates sing. I've of course heard him for decades but it was weird to see him sing and notice exactly what he sounds like. Loved your mention of that excellent ending! I kind of took these guys for granted back then but now I'm realizing better how good they were.

'Old Grey whistle Test' the late night BBC music show had some of the greatest bands you will ever here perform live in their studios. Many songs performed were not chart hits, presented in the early days by Bob Harris, a master of musical under statement when introducing them. But boy did those bands perform, like H & O just did here. Check out Humble Pie' 'black coffee' simply stunning performance.

They were definitely a can’t miss live act for decades! Both have amazing voices! And yes, they have always felt that music videos detracted from the actual music - even though they made some iconic videos!

John Oates rarely sings lead but he always sings backup vocals and plays guitar.

Awesome! This song ruled the radio back when. I forgot how the opening lyrics are delivered almost like a whisper. And dig the bell bottoms John Oates is wearing!

I really like many of Hall & Oates songs. Not sure why John Oates didn't sing more on their later recordings. John Oates and ONJ sang "Fly Away" together at the John Denver Earthday Tribute Concert in 2011. It is available on youtube.😀

I’m usually a big no on live performances from the 70’s, but Hall & Oates are such great singers, it works. 😁❤️

***DARYL HALL & 'THE DUDE WITH THE MUSTACHE' TRIVIA TIME!!!*** ....you GONE!?
    - ...this One has a loooooot of trivia, so, don't be 'gone'......"She's Gone" was actually (first) written by 'Oates', when he was waiting for a (former) Girlfriend to show up at his Apt. on New Years Eve, and she dumped him, by not showing up.....EVER.... Daryl was going thru a divorce (with his 1st Wife), so they wrote the tune together, while licking their romantic wounds....
    - ...the tune was released in 1973, on their Atlantic LP, "Abandoned Lunchonette"; the tune BOMBED, but was a local hit, in Philadelphia....now, get THIS...They were asked to 'lip-sync' the tune on a local TV Show, and they were *NOT IN THE MOOD*...So, they compromised, and made a 'performance piece' Video that was (purposely) SO BAD, that they COULDN'T show it on the TV Show....but, they DID, and embarrassed H+O to HIGH HELL!
....So in reality, H+O actually, made the very FIRST ***MUSIC VIDEO!!*** ....Now, they got a new record deal with RCA in 1975, and, had a BIG BIG hit with "Sara Smile" in 1976....Atlantic re-released "She's..", and it went Top Ten (#7 Pop) in 1976-1977!
    - ...MORE TRIVIA... The R&B group Tavares had a Top Ten R&B hit with "She's Gone" in 1974; when H+O's version was re-released in 1977, Tavares re-released THEIR version, and BOTH tunes were on the R&B charts at the SAME TIME!
-...this HELPED Hall + Oates become THE premier "White Soul Boys" that defined the genre, "Rock N' Soul"...they've had MANY R&B hits as well as Pop / Rock, and are INDEFINITE Legends.....even, with this ATROCIOUS Music Video!

No. Tavares is the cover. John Oates wrote the song and sings more of it on the studio recording, on Abandoned Luncheonette, a very early H&O album.
John Oates had a wonderful voice: lead on “Italian Girls,” “Possession Obsession,” “Mano a Mano.” “Italian Girls” was really fun in a live show
