What a great piece you've put together here Tom! And what crazy timing ... I got the notification just as I was putting together a birthday package that included Issue 4 "Not Bad for a Girl" for an OG skater named Matt Potter from Georgia's three daughters who are now into skating ... shout out to future shredders Everly, Magnolia and Delilah! ... and yeah that was a crazy run-on sentence as well, but, hey ... sometimes ya just can't grammar good ;-)
Thank you. Really pleased you enjoying it. I was captivated listening to your journey. It put a huge smile on my face when “yellow shirt” was revealed as Rene Hulgreen. Couldn’t believe what I was seeing, watching Rene in vids when I as a little kid. Huge shout out to you and all the other female rollerblades who laid the path for the future shredders Everly, Magnolia and Delilah! That birthday package sounds great. Hope you’re keeping well 🙌🏻
this is awesome! also, thanks for using all the references. when we started jump street podcast i wouldnt have thought it would be used on other forms like media like this. pretty cool, tom!
I just came back to blading after being gone for 17 years... the number of women tearing it up these days is incredible. Chynna in particular is one of my favorite "new to me" bladers, her precision and technicality are just mind-boggling. These ladies are inspirations to ALL bladers, not just other women! Great episode.
This is really really awesome. Thank you for showcasing me amongst such fierce talent. I’m proud to be deeply a part of something I’m super passionate about!
Amazing episode and great to see the girls getting the recognition they deserve! Fabiola is a friend and one of the best skaters I´ve ever had the pleasure to see skating live. She is a total beast and a great advocate for the sport! Huge respect for the bladies!
This is your best video. What an incredibly well-researched piece to show the true diversity and fabric of the sport as a whole. Who knows where blading will be in the future and how quad blading will ascend at its current trajectory. Along with where it will all meet in the middle.
Katie Ketchum is also another great bladies. She has a great impact on the reasons why I still rollerblade. Aarin Gates too. Great video on highlighting female rollerblader!
I want to thank you SO MUCH for putting this together! I'm a beginner with not that many hours put into blading yet but seeing this makes me so incredibly hyped! I had no idea there were so many bladie rolemodels (roll-models?) even though I had heard about some of them. Coming from a completely different scene (in hiphop) I really want to emphasize how much of an impact this could make! Letting females get the cred they deserve in a male dominated scene. So cheers to you for doing important work and for getting me all hyped up!
Thank you for the kind words Dafne. This is what it’s all about - Inspiring, motivating and giving people the shine they deserve. There are so many more Bladies I didn’t manage to include, probably could have made a 5 hour documentary haha. A really rich history of Bladies in skating. I enjoyed putting this together and I’ve been meaning to do it for a long time but it’s the Bladies and their journeys which make the video what it is. Enjoy the skating 🙌🏻🧡
This exposure was NEEDED. Thank you @Tom Moyse! Jenny Logue, Martina Svobodova, Kaya Turski and Jenna Downing as well as Fabiola Da Silva and Chynna Weirstall are among my favourites!
One of the best edits you ever have put together! Very inspiring to women and men. These girl are a perfect example that you can achieve anything if you put your heart into it. More power to women ✊🏽
Fabiola has been my all time favourite skater since day 1! I was around 12-13 when she won that first comp and she inspired me to switch from quads to inline. Fabiola De Silvia is literally a good 85-90% of the reason I rollerblade 🙌🏻🙌🏻🫶🏻
🤯🤯🤯 wow mind blown..what a great in-depth look into female rollerblading..loads of stuff I didnt know, and I will be showing this my daughter who's started rollerblading..Also not sure if you done this or not but a vid about "Best skaters to never get a pro model" 🤔
I always fancied jenny logue when I was a teen.. once I pulled a really long and fast, sat down unity across the box at Peterborough (y2sk8 pre-comp jam session). Jenny saw it, gave me a nod and said "nice"... I was soooo chuffed.. i must have blushed. It was something different to everyone else at the time I suppose. It was the period when everyone was trying to get as many switches in on one rail as you could. Those were the days. Lovely vid dude. Its been lovely to have girls skating with us throughout the years. I think it's one of few disciplines that has had ladies in solidly from the start. They built the foundations with us. I started aggressive in 1995 and there were always pro girls doing their thing. Respect to the bladies! Mega love xx
Yea youre spot on there! The Bladies have been there from the start which is unlike most other disciplines. They defo deserve way more attention. Haha great story about Peterborough 🙌🏻
Chynna Weierstall's style totally reminds me of Chris Haffy's style. She's really good! I haven't looked into the sport for some time, I got older and Dailybread magazine amongst other coverage shut down. I really enjoyed seeing some old and new faces! Thanks, this was very enlightening.
Thanks for putting so much passion and curiosity into this video. It has revealed a whole side to the sport, of which I wasn't at all aware. Their collective stories are a treatise on determination and it is very humbling to be reminded of the most important lesson in life, which pertains to human beings - never underestimate people. When pondering a sport created and crafted by men, the easiest trap, into which one falls, is to underestimate women. I am a little bit better, as a person, for having watched your video. Cheers Tom.
Thanks for the kind words. It’s was hard work but also a pleasure putting this together. It’s the females stories that make this video what it is. Their continue impact on rollerblading shouldnt be undervalued
Jenna Downing and Sarah McDonough (Lupton) before she married were two of the best representing the UK, My sons got a signed picture of Jenna on his wall much love to all these wonderful ladies, who runs the world ♥️😁, great video man very informative oh and to anyone thinking about starting rollerblading do it the sport needs you
Saw John Goodfellow’s name pop up in the Jenny Logue part. Any news on what he’s up to these days? I had the pleasure of skating with him a couple of times at Southsea in the mid/late 90s. Remember him being a good guy
The title should have been "Fabiola ... , and other influential females" 😅 But I certainly remember Kaya very well from Road To Nowhere. In the long run, maybe Chynna will get the recognition she deserves.
Women blading started in begin......Ms. dailybread Angie Walton...BLADIES NEED MORE RESPECT...more I think...more women I find...like Mimi Shing...etc...
Azuma holds it down for MFT brand. Someone should do a quick upload on how sick and Hella underrated they are. If everyone knows em and how long they have been at it then carry on. I feel like MFT has been around longer than Nimh, maybe even Loco. They only allow steeze bots.
@@TomMoyse I've always been partial to Fabiola Da Silva and Angie Walton since I'm from the 90s but it's great to see so many powerhouses in this video.

I love all these women so so much in so many ways. But Dawn Everett is and will always be my favorite.
