- These six mandolin greats came together at the California Bluegrass Association's 2015 Father's Day Festival in Grass Valley, CA on Saturday evening on June 20th. They are interviewed by Paul Knight, the renowned soundman and bass player. They're all important members of past and present bluegrass music. They play together, tell stories of their careers, discuss the history of this music, and give examples of different styles of playing. It was a real treat for the audience to witness the admiration and respect these players have for each other and such a treat to hear them all playing together. Wow!

Mark, Thx for posting this video. My wife and I were there, all I got was the audio recorded on my iphone which wasn't too shabby. I've been lucky to take lessons from Mike Compton and of course to see all of them together was awesome. What a historical moment for California Bluegrass fans.

What mandolin joy! The music was fabulous. The personal history was also brilliant. Perhaps a talkng time limit should have applied so we could hear what it's all about. Overall, from this Aussie mando lover, it was heavenly. ThankyYou all! PS. I would love to know what instruments makers they were playing.
