Imo Barioth is worse than Coral Pukei-Pukei. I died like 12 times in total fighting Barioth where with the Coral Pukei-Pukei I got him my first time. Just my experience though.
The issue is Fatalis isn't exactly meant for mr40 or whatever low mr he is made avaliable, so many new players aren't exactly going to beat him, unless they grind or sos in a crew of mr150+ players that are competent. That being said, I personally do feel Fatalis is easier solo once you have the gear.
We? Who’s this we. You assume I’ve actually beaten Fatalis? Damn I’m sorry to disappoint but I’ve had this game since pre master rank and I still haven’t beaten him a single time.
I found fatalis easier than several monsters, mostly just more forgiving hit boxes and attack windows, despite the increased damage. Dps checks for Alatreon is less forgiving. I think Fatalis is overall a very fair but punishing and hard fight.
I'm surprised Barioth is so low. That was one of the hardest roadblocks for me the first time I encountered him, far more than those higher on the list like Odogaron and Diablos. I also found Ruiner Nergigante more manageable than some others lower down like Rajang. His attacks hit hard but are pretty well telegraphed once you've experienced them a couple times.
Agreed. Barioth is way harder for me than some of the monsters higher on this list like odogaron, legiana, anjanath, brachydios etc. I'd put it in A tier, and move tigrex and brachydios down to B.
I would say barioth is easy but then again I'm a hammer main so bonking monsters is my life and I would put ruiner nerg in A tier tbh it's not that hard
The catch with all those Tier Lists is, that Difficulty is highly subjective. It depends heavily on the play style, strengths and weaknesses of the respective player. For example, I find Beachydios way easier than Barioth and would switch their positions in this list.
Couldn't agree more...I had to literally build just for him....I'm a glaive main so every battle was a bit of a slog and then to faint?!?!?! Frustrating...now I'm struggling on savage DJ. I'm just farming him but for some reason I can't beat him anymore lol
Look. I'm not here to slander Ruiner Nergigante, but that dude was absolutely not a challenge for me. He can hit hard, cause bleed, and has a few mix ups with his moveset, but he isn't all too different from base Nergi Also, did we fight the same Kulve Taroth? Kulve is absolutely harder than a Rathalos
While easy to discuss the more impressive creatures like Nergigante and Bazelgeuse, I really did like the quirks of the smaller monsters in World. Jagras and Girros withdrawing from larger monsters, but not hesitating to jump and attack them when they were vulnerable was a great touch, and likewise with good ol' Tzitzi flashing stronger monsters and then retreating, implying it may well be cunning enough to figure letting you kill a powerful rival will benefit it in the long term (a stretch, but a fun muse). Lovely ecology.
For me personally, Kulve Taroth MR is a lot harder than tempered Ruiner Nergigante. Her attacks cover large areas. Even if you're aware of attacks she's about to do, most of the times it is very hard to avoid since the range is so big. While nergigante have a lot of fearsome attacks and a lot more aggressive. His dmg isn't that high considering he doesn't have his big move anymore, and breaking his spikes can get you a lot of KO out of him.
C does seem very low for Kulve Taroth indeed, I tried to help some folks who sent flares today and people have a lot of trouble not dying in that fight.
@@snoopdoge7269 you are absolutely right. To me, it is the fastest monster in the game, not to mention a wide variety of aoe attack that can 1 shot us hunters even with fatalis gears.
@@hariman7727 well then my friend, you are in for another challenge. I won’t spoil anything for you, but make sure you bring your A game gears with you when you fight her. It is not some common Tempered Velkhana. Good luck A lister👍.
While I was really not expecting lunastra to be so high up, I absolutely couldn't agree more. Her nova is INFINITELY more of a challenge than teostras.
It would've been sadistic for Capcom to make an event quest with both Behemoth, Alatreon and Fatalis in it. No one would beat that quest, unless you're a speedrunner of course.
There are plenty of quest mods that add ridiculous challenges to the game for pc. I just tried a quest where I had to fight 5 arch tempered rajang at the same time in the arena.
How tf do you beat that mission? No matter what I do the giant mosswine can't be dodged and you can't deal damage fast enough before your revives are gone and the mission failed
@thex6992 I used hammer for that. After defeating the small mosswines, go to the sliding terrain part of the map, wait for the big mosswine to stand up after sliding in the entrance. Just use the spinning attack, it will guarantee you a stun and use that short free time to kill the big mosswine.
I've realized that based on my own main weapon (IG) that my placement for monsters between D and A can vary from little to vast, but I guess that is because I can avoid vertically and engage in the same process. I also suggest an "Annoying as shit tier" and slap rathian right in it. That triple run charge attack looping over and over and over just fuels my rage every time.
Vaal Hazak has been one of the easier fights in the game for me. Simply because I find the status effect scary enough to just build Effluvial Resistance right off the bat. I keep some great girros gloves in my box preloaded with a miasma gem or an amulet. Even with whatever build parts were in my gloves or amulet at the time, the fight just becomes much less worrysome at that point.
When i was about to fight him, i legit put 3 miasma 1 jewels then steamrolled the guy. Because the last time i fought him like year or two ago his effects were pain in the ass. Same goes to viped kadachi. I straight up made poison resist 3 charm + thunder mantle fk that poison and paras
Savage devilhoe being under nergigante is insane Also kirin is higher and silver rathalos I find nergi to be one of the easier fights in the game thanks to its telegraphing
As a Lancer the A+ tier for me was just Alatreon and Fatalis. It took me 88 tries to solo Alatreon and a as result of getting better I sold’d Fatalis in about 20ish tries. Other notable monsters were Rajang and Raging Brachy. Rajang knocking me back with Guard 5 and Raging just draining my health in general at final stage. Health augment helped immensely with all of these though.
It's also fun to realize how much weapons affect your gameplay style (atleast to me), coz with Guard based Gunlance, Diablos and Deviljho becomes much easier for me, whereas when I use IG, Azure Rathalos or Legiana or Blackveil just become easy targets to hit.
Odogaron is one of my favorite monsters in the game, but I've never found him particularly difficult (my friend says different, but, eh?), so when you get to Kirin and he's not there yet, I'm wondering if you forgot him lol. You honor the blood puppy greatly. Too much I think, but I'll take it.
Paolumu getting slept on, she's at least D tier! When she puffs up...she spams that damn ground pound attack, it can be annoying to deal with! She can do that move like 4 to 5x back to back and then keep recycling it lmaooo
Lol this is crazy. Anja being above master rank Kulve. Luna being top tier. Ruiner is a joke also compared to arch tempered dive bomb boy from high rank. Also, Depending on the version of the monster this list could vary “wildly”. For example Arch Tempered Namielle is pretty mid and not very difficult whereas arch tempered Velkhana can give people as much trouble as Falalis because her downtime between attacks is almost non existent.
I'm inclined to agree with the tier list overall, but I think Lunastra and base Odogaron are too high. I would put Lunastra in A or B tier, because once you know what to do about her Supernova, there's not much she can do to you. Odogaron should be on the same tier as Paolumu. Yes, he's quick, but that's about it. He's kind of easy. If you dodge as soon as you see him start to move, 9 times out of 10 you will be okay. But other than that, it's a very solid list. EDIT: The more I think about this, the more certain I become that a singular Monster Difficulty Tier List doesn't quite work -- as I realized that there are some monsters I would place higher and lower for certain weapons. A Monster Difficulty Tier List should probably be done on a per-weapon basis. I consider Lunastra and Odogaron easy because I play a weapon that is quite mobile. But if I had to wait more than a second for the weapon to sheathe, things might be different.
I just passed barioth in my playthrough with cb and so far he is the only monster that took more than 20min (24min to be exact) to kill as it usually took me on average 12min to kill. For barioth, opening timings are not enough for SAED as mf jumps away last sec. So i just cosplayed as sns
Brute Wyverns are annoying with Greatsword, due to their height. But a lot of other monsters are easy with Greatsword while being tricky with other weapons. So yeah, I agree.
I’m surprised that barioth is so low especially since you put him below anajath. I’ve always thought of him as a diet tigrex. I love glavenus he’s my favorite monster but putting him in the same tier as teostra feels like a little much but since he’s my favorite hunt/monster we’ll just say it’s cause of his tail rizz.
@@Ericboy114558 legiana and winged wyverns are kinda annoying with melee weapons past high rank since flash pods become less effective. It becomes more of a waiting game while with ranged weapon you can just continue raining dps but that’s just my take.
@@breachphoenix649 Yes that's definitely a very nice feature of the bow, probably why it's so high in dps. Staying alive against the hyper agressive enemies like Barioth, Tigrex and Rajang is where i feel the least confident with bow. But that's probably more of a skill issue haha
Lunastra couldn’t be better placed. When I first played World, I got stuck on Lunastra and stopped playing for maybe six months because I was just sure she was unbeatable by me. Then, I beat her and didn’t face anything nearly as oppressive until Raging Brachydios.
I'm a HBG main and I have to focus on the fight everytime. He's lite-Tigrex levels of fast, covers a lot of ground, spends a lot of time in the air, deals wind pressure and iceblight, and needs lots of tenderizing to create weak spots. He's much more manageable when you learn him, but he's no pushover IMO.
Luna in the same tier as Fatalis is CRAZY. She's difficult, yes, but I'd put her in A rather. Also normal Anj in B is hilarious, I'd have him in C or even D. Black Diablos also deserves maybe one tier up.
@@hariman7727 true! I always forget how much of a challenge Alatreon is! Managing/controlling his elements is stressful as hell 😂 AT Velk is no walk in the park either lol
Lunastra is the monster that broke me. Even before Iceborne she would burn me off of Ancient's walls. How does napalm on the ground kill you up the f-ing walls!?!
Gonna have to go out and say MR uragaan wiped me and by buddies multiple time, even causing failed quests. if he hits you with his rolling attack you get stunned which sets you up for a second hit and instant death. he has so much hp that fights will go on long enough for people to make a mistake and get hit by the rolling. Probably the creature ive had the most trouble with in MR, and im at the point of farming barioths and glavenus. Definitely a lot higher than d-tier.
Yeah on MR especially, Uragaan is a total biscuit. Sometimes he just does flaming pirouettes on your head whilst you wait out your max get-up time just to get steamrolled back to camp after the 5 or so seconds. Even on HR, he's definitely a tier above Radobaan just base purely on the fact that the ridiculous duration of his rolling attack means he's so much more likely to clock you with it.
I think a better way to get a more objective ranking would be to join SoS flares and see how many times people cart. Some monsters are really off. Kulve Taroth for example is extremely low. I was joining a ton of Kulve games a couple days ago and it seems like every 3rd game you'll have carts left and right from people getting 1 shot, trapped in a corner with the giant hitbox, being caught by the lava, hit by debris, etc.
KT has lots of hp. If you add more players she gets even more hp and it becomes harder to beat KT when the player doesn't know the moves and spends time running and healing instead of dealing DMG. I think ppl should always try to beat monsters solo first and then do multiplayer. It's a totally different strategy and approach, basically a different game coz if you know what to do and the other guys don't, you'll fail the quest coz of carts
Ruiner is a joke, also where is AT Velk? definitely up there with Fatty.. and I don't agree that Frostfang Barioth is easier than either of the Anjanaths lol... mostly accurate but some clown picks imo
Story Tobi-Kadachi was my only wall in Low Rank base world. Had no trouble with Anjanath or Diablos, for instance, but Tobi took me two tries. Kept getting chain stunned and paralyzed, and it was so fast and agile I had a hard time hitting it back. Probably didn’t help that that was the mission I decided I wanted to learn to play charge blade.
@@Muongoing.97c Respect to you man,I'm planning to buy a tobi kadachi poster or plushie to honor him in his help against the pink tyrant anjanath with his armor set... And is my favorite monster he helped me got out of my low rank rival anjanath... I Got so pissed at iceborne for Viper, it's design just reminds me of a desert snake and I wished it could've been in the wildspire but no they had to put him in a icey environment.
Me and my friends started doing a Monster Hunter Nuzlock to celebrate the announcement of Wilds and we’re around 13 hours in and only just got into high rank, it’s been a “wild” ride
When we die we have to switch to a random weapon, ban a armor piece, and a decoration. When we fail a quest we have to permanently ban a weapon from the list of weapons we have used. Me and my friends have been making videos of it so if it sounds interesting then you can check it out if you want to, it’s been super fun
You clearly forgott how hard Kulve was in MR. I have no Idea how she endet up lower then Raging Brachy. For me they are both quiet comparable in difficulty.
diablos is a really fun fight, me and a friend fought him in low rank literally just after the legiana quest he is literally the only monster i know every single move of, high rank diablos is a whole different beast tho
other than fatalis i’d say tempered Namielle has been my biggest annoyance. the water shock move is aids even with good gear on. Fatalis fight is fair but since i’ve done him so many times it’s second nature at this point
Cotton should then record a fight with silver rathalos for us =) And by the way, I totally HATE lunastra, that is pretty much the only monster I avoid in guiding lands because it's just annoying
I was. Super surprised about Lunastra. You can flash her to make her Super Nova making her most powerful attack pretty predictable. I'd even put her lower (maybe a little at least) than Teostra.
In my mind there are 3 tiers of monster: first is monsters you can just yolo on any set, second monsters you have to build around (ie take resistances), and lastly monsters you have to build for. I was just bad sure, but on my first playthrough of MHW I legit had to stop playing the weapon I picked up for the story and swap to something else just to get past some of the elder fights. Sure sets like clusters, sticky and glutton existed but once the game started to ramp up the challenge I ended up with a specific loadout for each of the hard checkpoints. In my mind the hardest fight was AT Nerg in base world: no cheesy damage thresholds, no group requirement, no phases, just an honest race between your DPS and his spikes or more importantly your HP and his.
I’m a somewhat new player who is just gotten to the coral highlands, I have done 2 pukei-pukei I hunts and 2 Rathian hunts, HOW IS RATHIAN THE SAME TIER I RAN OUT OF ANTIDOTES IN 5 SECONDS, pukei-pukei I used 2
A thing i like is how MH difficulty is very subjective as it all depends on what weapon you use and how much you prepared for a specific fight by the items, skills, etc. you bring with you. It's the same for souls likes but just the extra things you can do in MH to really change a fight feels good.
Great Girros also jumps you with his squad. If he doesn’t have one with him. He calls them to come and gang up on you. They also paralyses you if they all attack at once. I’ve seen up my Hunters skirt more than I’ve can count because of them.
The fight became a lot easier for me when I stopped using hornitaur mail and just used torches, the little ones stop fighting and hiss at the flame the whole time instead.
I was the same way with Greatsword when waiting between the original MHW and Iceborn's release. I hunted a Nergigante with Greatsword each night as a wind down hunt because Greatsword Vs Nergigante is FUN.
Pretty accurate imo, haven't fought some of the higher rank monsters in a bit but in my replaythrough, it's nice to experience all the monsters in appropriate gear again
maybe its just been too long for me to say, but lunastra never felt that challenging for me as far as i remember. i would put her on the same level as a ruiner nergigante and i dont feel like she even comes close to fatalis. also i understand you didnt include tempered monsters but i feel like this tierlist is still missing the AT monsters in iceborne since at least Velkhana would easily make S+ tier. just makes me a bit sad to not see her included. very interesting video nonetheless
I would like to say, it would be nice if the devs would give World and update, one to have the opportunity to change kulve taroth in and out of Arch-tempered, it would be very appreciative to have. Anyone agrees?
Just wanna call out the reason alot of people saying Barioth is hard is prollly because some of them are used to using the Defender armor set and Barioth is the first monster pretty much would eat you alive and gives you reality check.
I disagree with Uragaan, particularly when you fight him. I still find ways to cart to him regularly because it's so easy to get carted from his massive slam attacks since they're generally following him essentially stunlocking you with a combination of roars and tremors. So unless you specifically run earplugs and tremor resist, you're going to likely cart to him a few times as a melee when you are introduced to him. Much harder than Anjanath, even with his weirdly small hitboxes.
I've been constantly carted by Uragaans in the Guiding Lands even with superior gear, thanks to getting hit by a fast rolling and getting up next to an explosive
@@retanoab Uragaan sucks in general, particularly with the massive health pools Iceborne gave all the monsters. And yeah, I hate the clutch claw so it makes it worse when I try to avoid using it.
Yian Garuga does the same thing Wrathion does.... yeah Wrathion on crack... He also can roar while he's moving and will often immediately attacks after a roar while you're flinched and his roar needs earplugs 5 to counter. He also bounces white sharpness weapons if not softened with clutch claw attacks which is hard because he never stop attacking so you need to use your temporal mantle or pray for a clutch stagger. All in all I feel Yian disserves to be several tiers higher.
BRO I CANT. I HATE ALATREOM MAN I JUST FOUGHT HIM FOR THE FIRST TIME. SOLO I JUST CANT DEAL AND I CANT SOS SIGNAL CAUSE ITS SPECIAL ASSIGNEMEND WHERE I SPAWN INFRONT OF HIM. Edit: i challanged him 15 times. After dodging all attacks at the beginning just to call an sos. My teammates drop 1 by 1. multiplayee just wasnt it. I had to have a weapon just special for this bastard. I play hammer but i cant reach his stupid head but if i dont brake the horns i die by that stupid one shot.
Only thing I disagree with is Lunastra, she's tough, but when you find the gimmick to leap spam, jerky, windproof, block, items, mantles, etc. she's not on Fatalis level anymore and doesn't hit anywhere near as hard, even without the blue flames.
I 9/10 love this video. The topic is nice , it’s made absolutely well i just think the 1 point is missing because of There’re not being Videos for all the monsters, I would have liked that more
Brother, Alatreon single handedly shrunk the player base. He was the skill check for a lot of people and made ppl quit. Also not to mention that he’s MR requirement is deceptive. Many player try him at that rank and instantly die. There is no Fatalis fight with out Alatreon.
@@MrGhosta5 I know, now tell me fatalis gets as easy as lunastra when equipping a fireproof mantle no right? That's why I don't get why she is that high on the difficulty tier list
@@ivasanchezify He won't, because Fatalis doesn't. I had to rotate FIVE mantles, maybe six: Ghillie (cannon opening), Fireproof, Rocksteady, Evasion, Temporal, Assassin's Hood. Temporal was saved for using the Roaming Ballista. The Hood was used ONLY in Phase 3 for the movement speed.
As a new player just starting over a month ago, I made it to raging bracy and alatreon and let me tell you, these two have me killed more than all the other monsters combined, furious rajang wasn’t as hard as these two for some reason, he kinda felt the same as normal rajang, and I’m a swaxe main
Fatalis over Alatreon is insane, beating Alatreon needs a lot of skill while you can just trigger Fatalis' cone a few times in a row and kill him in like 20 minutes. sure EJ isn't that hard to avoid even without critical element but Fatalis was so much easier, especially with 2 players
Fatalis is harder because of the way he fights. Alatreon isn't quite so aggressive or area covering, and doesn't have the arena covering FOOM that Fatalis has... or Fatalis' body slams/"THIS IS MY SEMI TRUCK IMPRESSION" crawl attack.
As a person who has returned to Iceborne after a couple years, I have solo’d every monster without Fatalis gear except for Safi’ Jiiva (full energy, because draining the energy is too easy to solo him in those conditions) and Extreme Behemoth as a hammer purist. I have recently been trying to beat solo those two without Fatalis gear. I am using the full Alatreon set and hammer to do it. I can say without a doubt that Extreme Behemoth at least as a hammer purist without Fatalis gear, is the hardest fight in the game. Primarily due to the 4 player scaling and the crazy amount of dumb mechanics he has. Ancient Leshen was a long drag, but when you figure out the best areas on the map to use the environment against him, the drag is really the only issue with him. Safi’ Jiiva full energy is probably one of the hardest in terms of getting the right RNG, because at least the single player scaling keeps him mostly fair. The 20 minute timer is the only major annoyance with full energy runs without Fatalis gear. Wish me luck on my final challenges hunters!
i'd argue that nightshade's biggest move, that carts many hunters, is worth a tier higher than he is here but still low overall. rathalos is... well non glitched compared to Rise so he's not acting like he's perpetually stoned, forgetting where his feet are so he can never seam to poison me. he loses some cool fire attacks that they should give to azure to make them more different but still have him remember his talons exist for a nice middle ground between 5th gen games. kulve seems a bit low but i kind of get it. especially with many of us farming her so much that her master rank changes are trivial to how much we got use to farming her for those poor weapon drop rates... i am still, to this day, missing that kjarr bomber gl. i've accepted that it's the only kulve weapon i'm missing and will never roll with my luck. diablos is one i never found hard but i know that's in part do to my weapon preferences. i still laugh at the fond memory of him carting me twice in the Wildspire wastes intro quest when i was trying to get a good look at him as he was 1 shotting me. no, legiana is a tier or 2 lower than that. it is most definitely the easiest of the apex predetor monsters by far. not even with a single flash pod, legiana is just easy. unless you are locked in an animation kirin's lightning is easy to avoid, there are very visible, for the most part, markers on the ground for where it will hit every time. the only time it's an issue is like some zones on the coral highlands in daytime where the mostly white warning light effect blends with the white ground. that's the only time i find the lightning to be a real threat. bouncing is annoying but often it won't hit you right as your ar recovering from a bounce. his head being a tiny weak spot is annoying but most of what kirin is only translates to a hunt taking longer, not killing you that much... unless he gets luck and paralysis and stun stack from the same hit so you will get hit and maybe it will kill you. kirin is 1 tier too high here. teostra is totally a tier, or 2, too high. he's totally the easiest elder in the game by far. yes vaal if you ignore his mechanic with the armor skill but teostra's 2 part shtick has no reason to counter with you set because he's so easy. the supernova is very long in windup, most animations you are fine in being able to finish it and react. the lava aoe is annoying but not enough. anjinath is weird, he's the first monsters i carted to in MHW, solely because i forgot to increase health by eating but once i did he was always easy. i'd say he deserves that tier lower if he used his fire more but since he doesn't well 2 tiers lower if we're talking master rank. yes i agree with viper. a shame he doesn't use his paralysis more, i found it to be a rare sight but his poison moves were dangerious at times. still sad that he didn't have poison/paralysis db. acidic has defense down and better moves so i sort of see him a very negotiable between this tier and 1 higher. namielle i find as also in that arguably 1 tier higher situation, the awkward water restricting movements and possibly stacked water blight/thunder blight. shara i just love for sort of showing how the World team is sort of better at their job than the Rise team, in retrospect, specifically for blocking weapons that machine gun nature to the death star laser was creative. if you head on block unless using lance exclusive power guard, which gives you higher chip damage, you were going to run out of stamina and get hit. unless you were cleaver and took advantage the knock back by facing it at an angle, as opposed the head on, so you would safely be knocked out of it in 2 or 3 hits. it's little design choice that i love, that Rise utterly failed to replicate by making weapons with shields nerfed so silk binds only work when you can block where other weapons will be able to without issue. this spite filled design choice ruined a fair bit of these title update fight in base Rise by being unfair to some weapons, where shara is not only fair but creative in how it solves this issue. kushala was more annoying than in Rise but in master rank i found the gimmick of his smaller tornadoes moving together into a larger one that lasted like 2 seconds to be easier. easily a tier lower, possible 2 for me, master rank kushala was a wierd nerf but welcome i guess. base kushala's tornadoes didn't move but they persisted way too dam long. shrieking is not a tier higher than normal, so for me 2 tier lower than this. his quest was just a fun novelty of the weird alternate roar that happened a few tiems and the comedy of that poor barrioth getting bullied with him in 5 turf wars total with them in that first quest i did. shieking is just hillarious but so dam easy. frost fang is harder than velkhana, simply for him spamming that annoying foot stun a lot more. velkhana rarely uses it ut frsot fang it's all the time and i still say it's unfair that "well my feet are stuck, well guess my arm can't move a few inches to guard the coming tial hit." i maintain that World base rajang is harder while Rise furious rajang is harder/mre fun. gold rathain also spams her ultimate fireball more than she should sometims if you get unlucky with the AI. alatreon is undeniably poorly balanced. the elemental damage modifiers for his elemental dps check really favor some weapons and screw over others. the worst thing to use on him is fun mode/correct/using it's actual concept ig simply because the only good elemental hit zone is his stubby front legs so if you fly by his head, tail, or wings you are doing almost nothing for the elemental check which is totally unfair for ig. his moveset is very moderate in difficulty, he'd be very easy if there wasn't the dps check. the timer also lies to you with how the party whipe works and the limited horn breaks. yes but master rank lunastra is glitched, imagine if blackvail said "nah, i hate you guys always saying i'm weak so i'm taking away that armor skill" so you had to always have nullberries for affluviam. that's lunastra, in high rank you can use heat guard from a deco now, a charm, or the lavasioth chest so completely negate her nova's heat effect so all you have to do is avoid the fire patches that are exploding. this is the only situation where i would say the Iceborne team failed as hard, for reasons of spite, as Rise's title updates. fatalis is hard but a small but undeniable part of it is the fact that the quest artificially ups difficulty by making it a 30 minute hunt. less irritating than arch velkhana, because at least the fatalis music sucks by being just forest and hills with lazy vocals from MH1 remixed a bit. with AT velkhana i want to enjoy the moveset and vibe with 1 of their best tracks ever but the timer is pointlessly in the way of that joy. everything i don't metion, i pretty much agree with. just an alternate perspective for some of it.
I also think this depends on your weapon. big hitters that are slow like tigrex, lunastra and diabolos are so easy with CB. you can SAED them to oblivion for over 2500dmg. literally only need to line up 7-8 for a kill. with traps and palico para, wallbangs etc. you can beat them in 3min. whereas something like sns makes fast mobs like odogaron, etc easy peasy lemon squeezy because you’re not animation locked often
Sorry not sorry, but Savage Jho easily takes the hardest non-elder dragon level hunt. ESPECIALLY in any somewhat confined area, the damned deviled relish can move his toe and cause you damage. I truly hate that he's one of my favorites because damn is he not rage-bait. 🤣🤣
back then a wise hunter once teached me the ultimate guide on how to master the art of hunting monsters. i am passing this one below. Hit and dont get hit
Lunastra is not even close to the difficulty of raging bracky, the only reason people struggle is because of wind pressure... mechanically Lunastra is way easier than most monster in the A tier
I decided to try out the gs after years of not playing world, and I didnt understand the clutch claw mechanic yet. That being said, my biggest wall in Iceborne a week ago was Barioth 😂 (45 minutes)
Mine as a new player with GS was Barioth as well, then Tigre’s, then Raging Brachydios, then Alatreon, all the other fights in between were kind of ok.
Here’s my tier list: keep D and F the same but put yian garuga up into S+ and move all of B, A, and S to S+ Yes I suck at the game To this day I still can’t beat anything after Zinogre and Yian Garuga Rajang, too hard, furious, too hard, safi, too hard, gold and silver raths, too hard, ruiner, too hard, brute, too hard, raging, too hard, Stygian, too hard, scarred, too hard, savage, too hard, alatreon, too hard, fatalis, I will never even attempt, and lunastra takes me a week to finally beat, all the other elders (basegame) are somewhat simple
Frostfang is an absolute menace for lance until you learn the tell for its freeze so I'd put that in B. Meanwhile the Tigrexs and regular Zinogre are C tier; they can't touch me at all.
I agree with lots of them, tho my weapon match up obviously is different for some, but putting Velkhana besides a Legiana variant and not mentioning that AT Velkhana is such a hard fight kinda grinds my gears. Imo AT Velk is at least harder than Alatreon
I was able to solo Fatalis and win after a couple of carts, but I was never able to get past eschaton judgment from Alatreon even with high elemental weapons and tartgeted hits to the head. Alatreon is harder to solo IMO.
@@Mathghamhanbuilding element on greatswords isnt worth it, you can brute force your way through alatreon with raw without much difficulty, you just have to spend 2 carts dying to the ult :)
Thing is, Alatreon's elemental thresholds aren't actually that high. If you play cleanly, you don't even need Safi or Kulve to hit the first threshold. I dealt with him pretty easily with Frostfang weapon + Ice Attack 6. That's it. Nothing else. In good cycles, I can even get 2 topples. I'm almost certain that people fail because of Eschaton's psychological pressure, causing people to panic and stuff up repeatedly. Frankly speaking, he has a lot of openings revealing his head and arms. Side note, his arms are weakest to element, not his head. First get topple off arms, then break his head.
@LoncusZhao you are saying I need equipment from multi-player only hunts to take out alatreon solo. Defeates the solo only playthrough. Granted they might allow you do them now solo but when I played those were multi-player only.
I like how difficoulty of the monsters is a very subjective thing, i have a friend who also is new on monster hunter and me, Cotton and him would make a completely different tierlist one from the other 😂
I think it mostly depend on whether u use ranger, shielded, melee, or IG. Diablos for example, is piss easy with shielded weapons like lance or CB. Legit nightmare for ranged like bow without proper positioning. To preemptively dodge before he does his attack
I trained to solo him with Greatsword, the dps check is tricky but not too hectic when you know how to deal with certain attacks, you don't have to be a pro and exploit every attack👍
I hate Blackveil Vaal so much because after enough attempts I literally had to go out and grind before I would even bother attempting to fight because I literally didn’t have enough items to fight him. Eventually I just said F it and made an entire set with max effluvium resistance so I could fight him somewhat comfortably.
Overall i agree with this list :) the few changes id personally would make are : Placing Alatreon behind Fatalis Switching Ruinier with Furious Rajang -what maybe has something to do with that im a heavy bowgun main Putting Kirin behind Rajang - that thing has an scary eye for giving the player who has it the worst (status ,HP wise)100% of its love and affection Placing Scarred Yiang Garuga behind black Diablos
normal zynogre had me sweating , while I beat stygian zyn while lying in my bed and playing the game with one hand and brought no heals to the quest . I find normal one way harder
for me now 1 Furious Rajang (the tempered one its a nightmare) 2 AT Namielle (hard just too hard) 3 AT Velkhanna 4 Fatalis 5 (Ancient Leshen and EX Behemoth)
I think anja goes in D and fulgur goes in C... they have super obvious tells and its really easy to safely hit their head and the legs are good if tenderized
Putting a Barioth at the same level as a coral PukiPuki is the most insane fucking thing ever done
I hate Coral Pukei Pukei with a burning passion

@@foxboi6309What is your main? CPP was not super tough for Bow.
Imo Barioth is worse than Coral Pukei-Pukei. I died like 12 times in total fighting Barioth where with the Coral Pukei-Pukei I got him my first time. Just my experience though.
@@silvershadow781 maybe it depends on the weapon? im a bow user and coral puki was nightmare to me. but i won against barioth on first try
Let's set a prayer for new players when they finally encounter Fatalis, because they're gonna need it as much as we did.
his patterns are easier to deal with than alatreon imo, especially if you play one of the slower blade weapons.
I still need those prayers, lmao. I never was able to get good enough to deal with the full length Alatreon fight, or the intro to the Fatalis fight.
Barioth is harder than any Elder Dragon 💀
Couldn't agree more...I had to literally build just for him....I'm a glaive main so every battle was a bit of a slog and then to faint?!?!?! Frustrating...now I'm struggling on savage DJ. I'm just farming him but for some reason I can't beat him anymore lol
Shrieking Legiana is only hard because there's a fking Legiana following and helping it
But even then just use dung pod, and it will run away. The first time I thought it was easy once I figured it’s moveset
Look. I'm not here to slander Ruiner Nergigante, but that dude was absolutely not a challenge for me. He can hit hard, cause bleed, and has a few mix ups with his moveset, but he isn't all too different from base Nergi
Also, did we fight the same Kulve Taroth? Kulve is absolutely harder than a Rathalos
Agreed. Though i will slander him.
Don't know how it is for other weapons, but as a DB main, MR Kulve and Alatreon are approximately equally difficult to solo.
I remember the first time fighting Ruiner and did his dive. My legit reaction was "oh... that was it??"
@@desstai6294yeah, I expected a lot more of a challenge from ruiner but he was mad easy
We do fight Kulve Taroth in Master Rank, and this is the only time we can actually kill her
While easy to discuss the more impressive creatures like Nergigante and Bazelgeuse, I really did like the quirks of the smaller monsters in World.
Same
C does seem very low for Kulve Taroth indeed, I tried to help some folks who sent flares today and people have a lot of trouble not dying in that fight.
I die on Kulve a lot, ruiner I don’t. Disagree with kulves placement here
There's also the dps check to consider so you can't take your time and have to be very aggressive which you don't have to worry about with ruiner
@@Biotek2389yeah those dps checks are bs for slower weapons sometimes
If you feel confident after beating fatalis, try fighting AT Velkhana, she will put you back in your place real quick.
AT Velkhana makes Fatalis feel like a big angry gramps.

Don't forget ancient leshen, that guy was a nightmare

If we're gonna go That insane, let's also throw in Safi'jiiva for the sapphires
hardest I've seen is idevaste's final judgement video with ruiner, lunastra, alatreon x2, safi
There are plenty of quest mods that add ridiculous challenges to the game for pc. I just tried a quest where I had to fight 5 arch tempered rajang at the same time in the arena.
This list is missing the special 1-shot Mosswine with Plesioth hitboxes.
TRUE
And where's AT velkhana? no fcking way is in the same tier as nm velkhana
How tf do you beat that mission? No matter what I do the giant mosswine can't be dodged and you can't deal damage fast enough before your revives are gone and the mission failed
@thex6992 for me, the easiest way to do it was with a LBG sticky build. Keep your distance and aggro them one at a time.
@thex6992 I used hammer for that. After defeating the small mosswines, go to the sliding terrain part of the map, wait for the big mosswine to stand up after sliding in the entrance. Just use the spinning attack, it will guarantee you a stun and use that short free time to kill the big mosswine.
Legiana above kulve and barioth is crazy
Safi's ultimate attack is my number 1 attack of all time I love everything about it
Sapphire of the Emperor is so cool
It looks cool but after a while you just get jaded about it since it's just a phase transistion.
This teir list is all overthe place for me.
World is before the design team realized that monsters spending 80% of the fight in the air was just annoying.

Yep. Resistances are very important, and are often worth more than damage skills.
I learned that way back with Pukei Pukei.
I farmed T Vaal back in the day all the time with my dragon piercer build, she's fun to fight since I have a specific effluvial res set for her
Savage devilhoe being under nergigante is insane
Also kirin is higher and silver rathalos
I find nergi to be one of the easier fights in the game thanks to its telegraphing
As a GS main, ive never had trouble with any jhos in any of the MH games that Ive played
Its true. Odo has only a few moves and his hitboxes are small. Idk what this guy is smoking placing him this high
Paolumu getting slept on, she's at least D tier! When she puffs up...she spams that damn ground pound attack, it can be annoying to deal with! She can do that move like 4 to 5x back to back and then keep recycling it lmaooo
Extreme behemoth was a cruel and sadistic monster I still have nightmares just thinking about...him
I lost so many fights simply because there were no rocks to hide behind when he used his instant kill attack.
@@MrGhosta5 I didn't see the behemoth or the extreme variant on this list
Agreed. Barioth kicked my ass while i could farm Anjanath while sleeping. Also thought Legiana was way too high. Maybe it's because i main bow?
Then, I beat her and didn’t face anything nearly as oppressive until Raging Brachydios.
then you fight both her and Teostra, what a fun fight
Fatalis was the most difficult for me, awesome fight !
For Black Veil, you can use Effluvium Res 3 and cancel out all debuffs
Keep rocking on mhw vids, been fun to watch. Enjoying iceborn for the first time after not buying it for years
Barioth that low seems so wrong. He is fr a pain in the ass with how much he jumps all over the place, if you play any heavy melee weapon
Putting Pink Rathian in the same tier as Tobi-kadachi should be a crime
Tail attack is so easy to avoid though
Luna in the same tier as Fatalis is CRAZY. She's difficult, yes, but I'd put her in A rather. Also normal Anj in B is hilarious, I'd have him in C or even D. Black Diablos also deserves maybe one tier up.
Also Alatreon being below Fatalis. They're the two hardest monsters in the game, hands down.
I haven't tried AT Velkhana yet.
You clearly forgott how hard Kulve was in MR. I have no Idea how she endet up lower then Raging Brachy. For me they are both quiet comparable in difficulty.

Cotton should then record a fight with silver rathalos for us =)
And by the way, I totally HATE lunastra, that is pretty much the only monster I avoid in guiding lands because it's just annoying

I was. Super surprised about Lunastra. You can flash her to make her Super Nova making her most powerful attack pretty predictable. I'd even put her lower (maybe a little at least) than Teostra.
tempered black diablos carted me way more than tempered lunastra did
Mayby I'm just weird, as a SwitchAxe hunter, but I never percieved Lunastra as a big threat ...
Switch Axe is one of the few melee weapons that can hit flying monsters. The jumping up swing is great for knocking monsters out of the air.
I’m a somewhat new player who is just gotten to the coral highlands, I have done 2 pukei-pukei I hunts and 2 Rathian hunts, HOW IS RATHIAN THE SAME TIER I RAN OUT OF ANTIDOTES IN 5 SECONDS, pukei-pukei I used 2
>.> Poison Resistance Skills. They go far. ;)
I love Ancient Leshen. I wish Capcom can make a monster like that again.
Funnily enough I don’t think I’ve ever carted to shrieking legiana but I remember getting brutalized by base legiana when in the story mode
Being a lance only user(I suck on everything else), I really like hunting Nergigante.
I was the same way with Greatsword when waiting between the original MHW and Iceborn's release.
I hunted a Nergigante with Greatsword each night as a wind down hunt because Greatsword Vs Nergigante is FUN.
Nergigante is just a boxing bag whenever you encounter him, for any weapon besides range ones, i dont see him anywhere near S tier.
S tier fun for me, it's so satisfying fighting him, impact mantle and spread 3 build is stupid as hell
I was thinking the same thing, AT velkhana is great, i also put her at S+, i had harder time killing AT velkhana than alatreon

There is no Fatalis fight with out Alatreon.
wait, you guys dont know what a fireproof mantle is? lunastra is not that hard
Mantles make every fight so much easier. Fireproof mantle is really good because of just how many monsters use fire or blast.

Wish me luck on my final challenges hunters!
i'd argue that nightshade's biggest move, that carts many hunters, is worth a tier higher than he is here but still low overall. rathalos is... well non glitched compared to Rise so he's not acting like he's perpetually stoned, forgetting where his feet are so he can never seam to poison me. he loses some cool fire attacks that they should give to azure to make them more different but still have him remember his talons exist for a nice middle ground between 5th gen games.
kulve seems a bit low but i kind of get it. especially with many of us farming her so much that her master rank changes are trivial to how much we got use to farming her for those poor weapon drop rates... i am still, to this day, missing that kjarr bomber gl. i've accepted that it's the only kulve weapon i'm missing and will never roll with my luck.
diablos is one i never found hard but i know that's in part do to my weapon preferences. i still laugh at the fond memory of him carting me twice in the Wildspire wastes intro quest when i was trying to get a good look at him as he was 1 shotting me.
no, legiana is a tier or 2 lower than that. it is most definitely the easiest of the apex predetor monsters by far. not even with a single flash pod, legiana is just easy.
unless you are locked in an animation kirin's lightning is easy to avoid, there are very visible, for the most part, markers on the ground for where it will hit every time. the only time it's an issue is like some zones on the coral highlands in daytime where the mostly white warning light effect blends with the white ground. that's the only time i find the lightning to be a real threat. bouncing is annoying but often it won't hit you right as your ar recovering from a bounce. his head being a tiny weak spot is annoying but most of what kirin is only translates to a hunt taking longer, not killing you that much... unless he gets luck and paralysis and stun stack from the same hit so you will get hit and maybe it will kill you. kirin is 1 tier too high here.
teostra is totally a tier, or 2, too high. he's totally the easiest elder in the game by far. yes vaal if you ignore his mechanic with the armor skill but teostra's 2 part shtick has no reason to counter with you set because he's so easy. the supernova is very long in windup, most animations you are fine in being able to finish it and react. the lava aoe is annoying but not enough.
anjinath is weird, he's the first monsters i carted to in MHW, solely because i forgot to increase health by eating but once i did he was always easy. i'd say he deserves that tier lower if he used his fire more but since he doesn't well 2 tiers lower if we're talking master rank.
yes i agree with viper. a shame he doesn't use his paralysis more, i found it to be a rare sight but his poison moves were dangerious at times. still sad that he didn't have poison/paralysis db.
acidic has defense down and better moves so i sort of see him a very negotiable between this tier and 1 higher. namielle i find as also in that arguably 1 tier higher situation, the awkward water restricting movements and possibly stacked water blight/thunder blight. shara i just love for sort of showing how the World team is sort of better at their job than the Rise team, in retrospect, specifically for blocking weapons that machine gun nature to the death star laser was creative. if you head on block unless using lance exclusive power guard, which gives you higher chip damage, you were going to run out of stamina and get hit. unless you were cleaver and took advantage the knock back by facing it at an angle, as opposed the head on, so you would safely be knocked out of it in 2 or 3 hits. it's little design choice that i love, that Rise utterly failed to replicate by making weapons with shields nerfed so silk binds only work when you can block where other weapons will be able to without issue. this spite filled design choice ruined a fair bit of these title update fight in base Rise by being unfair to some weapons, where shara is not only fair but creative in how it solves this issue.
kushala was more annoying than in Rise but in master rank i found the gimmick of his smaller tornadoes moving together into a larger one that lasted like 2 seconds to be easier. easily a tier lower, possible 2 for me, master rank kushala was a wierd nerf but welcome i guess. base kushala's tornadoes didn't move but they persisted way too dam long.
shrieking is not a tier higher than normal, so for me 2 tier lower than this. his quest was just a fun novelty of the weird alternate roar that happened a few tiems and the comedy of that poor barrioth getting bullied with him in 5 turf wars total with them in that first quest i did. shieking is just hillarious but so dam easy.
frost fang is harder than velkhana, simply for him spamming that annoying foot stun a lot more. velkhana rarely uses it ut frsot fang it's all the time and i still say it's unfair that "well my feet are stuck, well guess my arm can't move a few inches to guard the coming tial hit."
i maintain that World base rajang is harder while Rise furious rajang is harder/mre fun.
gold rathain also spams her ultimate fireball more than she should sometims if you get unlucky with the AI.
alatreon is undeniably poorly balanced. the elemental damage modifiers for his elemental dps check really favor some weapons and screw over others. the worst thing to use on him is fun mode/correct/using it's actual concept ig simply because the only good elemental hit zone is his stubby front legs so if you fly by his head, tail, or wings you are doing almost nothing for the elemental check which is totally unfair for ig. his moveset is very moderate in difficulty, he'd be very easy if there wasn't the dps check. the timer also lies to you with how the party whipe works and the limited horn breaks.
yes but master rank lunastra is glitched, imagine if blackvail said "nah, i hate you guys always saying i'm weak so i'm taking away that armor skill" so you had to always have nullberries for affluviam. that's lunastra, in high rank you can use heat guard from a deco now, a charm, or the lavasioth chest so completely negate her nova's heat effect so all you have to do is avoid the fire patches that are exploding. this is the only situation where i would say the Iceborne team failed as hard, for reasons of spite, as Rise's title updates.
fatalis is hard but a small but undeniable part of it is the fact that the quest artificially ups difficulty by making it a 30 minute hunt. less irritating than arch velkhana, because at least the fatalis music sucks by being just forest and hills with lazy vocals from MH1 remixed a bit. with AT velkhana i want to enjoy the moveset and vibe with 1 of their best tracks ever but the timer is pointlessly in the way of that joy.
everything i don't metion, i pretty much agree with. just an alternate perspective for some of it.
You should do a top 10 strongest hunter in Monster Hunter based on their feats, skills, etc.
Solid tier list but I think both Garugas should jump up a tier
Putting legiana on the same level as azure rathalos is nuts. I can MULTITASK a legiana
I stopped watching at anjanath being one tier above scarred yian garruga, have you played the same game ?
Here’s my tier list: keep D and F the same but put yian garuga up into S+ and move all of B, A, and S to S+
Yes I suck at the game
To this day I still can’t beat anything after Zinogre and Yian Garuga
Rajang, too hard, furious, too hard, safi, too hard, gold and silver raths, too hard, ruiner, too hard, brute, too hard, raging, too hard, Stygian, too hard, scarred, too hard, savage, too hard, alatreon, too hard, fatalis, I will never even attempt, and lunastra takes me a week to finally beat, all the other elders (basegame) are somewhat simple
And here i was questioning myself not beeing ablentondestroy lunastra 1st try. Ty for the reassurance
Frostfang is an absolute menace for lance until you learn the tell for its freeze so I'd put that in B. Meanwhile the Tigrexs and regular Zinogre are C tier; they can't touch me at all.
Some wild choices, like barioth and kulve taroth being literally tobi kadachi tier.
Putting Lunastra in the same tier as Fatalis and above Alatreon is definitely a take
Feels great to return to this game, and move on to iceborne some point!!!
Agreed. As a GS main I’ve never been able to put out enough elemental damage to solo her
@@Mathghamhan Just switch to dual blades like I did, after realizing my elemental greatsword wasn't going to cut for the fight.
Love hearing how differently we say monsters names. I love it. Then some we all say the same. lol
I like how difficoulty of the monsters is a very subjective thing, i have a friend who also is new on monster hunter and me, Cotton and him would make a completely different tierlist one from the other 😂
thats true, but i think its kinda objective that lunastra and fatalis (maybe even alatreon) are the hardest monsters in the game
I think it mostly depend on whether u use ranger, shielded, melee, or IG.
Diablos for example, is piss easy with shielded weapons like lance or CB. Legit nightmare for ranged like bow without proper positioning. To preemptively dodge before he does his attack
dodo is the hardest to fight, not physically, but morally.
Alatreon's Escaton Judgment is insane to get through even with a full elemental build.
Savage axe charge blade shreds him
I trained to solo him with Greatsword, the dps check is tricky but not too hectic when you know how to deal with certain attacks, you don't have to be a pro and exploit every attack👍
It's super easy solo but impossible multiplayer because randoms are bad
@@thmistrapillay1811 You need to be close to that level though. (I'm also a greatsword main.)
I hate Blackveil Vaal so much because after enough attempts I literally had to go out and grind before I would even bother attempting to fight because I literally didn’t have enough items to fight him. Eventually I just said F it and made an entire set with max effluvium resistance so I could fight him somewhat comfortably.
"I made a list for GEAR APPROPRIATE levels"
"Also here's like 6/8 of the first monsters you fight..."
right
Putting anjanath above barioth is absolutely diabolical
Overall i agree with this list :) the few changes id personally would make are :
Placing Alatreon behind Fatalis
Switching Ruinier with Furious Rajang -what maybe has something to do with that im a
heavy bowgun main
Putting Kirin behind Rajang - that thing has an scary eye for giving the player who has it the worst (status ,HP wise)100% of its love and affection
Placing Scarred Yiang Garuga behind black Diablos
S Tier: Fatalis
A: AT Velkhana
B: Alatreon
C: Rest
normal zynogre had me sweating , while I beat stygian zyn while lying in my bed and playing the game with one hand and brought no heals to the quest . I find normal one way harder
for me now
1 Furious Rajang (the tempered one its a nightmare)
2 AT Namielle (hard just too hard)
3 AT Velkhanna
4 Fatalis
5 (Ancient Leshen and EX Behemoth)
Tempered Lunastra and Tesotra its kinda hard also
You lowballed the hell out of frostfang Barry. Under Odagaron and Anjanath? He belongs in the middle of A
Did I miss it or did Cotton leave of Xeno'jiva?
Edit: Ah, he was doing _just_ IB, I thought it was everything in World.
I think anja goes in D and fulgur goes in C... they have super obvious tells and its really easy to safely hit their head and the legs are good if tenderized
