Did 3 weeks for an old friend 4 months ago on an 8L great old girl, 3408 a good motor 👍🏻 , although for me the 9N with a longer track frame was a better tractor 😎
For ince-someone knows that to warm up most diesel truck engines is to "high-idle" them. All videos I have watched on RUclips the providers never raise to high-idle. I would recommend here in this video about two minutes if low idle at minimum to ensure engine oil have arrived upstairs in the rockers and down the street to the turbo
Yaknow, what if someone went to your favorite fishing hole and poured old motor oil into it, maybe littered up the bank with old tires, etc.? What about your favorite deer hunting grounds? I can imagine you wouldn't be too happy eh? Seems like you'd be happy someone would be looking out for the environment on your behalf, Einstein.
@@450farmall2better go back to school. Tell me what's knocking professor??? It's called a fuel knock. When it's cold pre cups dont want to fire. The dynamics of the recessed injector in the head. This is surrounded by cold antifreeze flowing through head. Hence glow plugs to raise temp for better combustion. When glow plugs dont work spray either. Worked on these out of my pocket to survive. If it was bearings it wouldnt hold oil pressure and wouldnt run long at all before spinning a bearing. Fuel knock will drive you crazy and make you think bearing wrist pin valves etc. Trust me I've tore them apart and rebuilt them. And it would do the same cold. It's just the nature of the engine. Direct injection doesn't do this and is more fuel efficient. But when their cold they will knock at first.
@@450farmall2bigger man? You haven't stated any facts. You don't have a clue. Save your bs for kids. I lived and survived these engines you fucking punk. Unless you preheat the engine you will have a fuel knock. Tell me about the knock once it warms up. Oh I bet there isn't any. See in real life in a field you have to use either or you run batteries dead or burn up starter cables mr certified teck. I'll say it again either won't hurt a thing unless you flood the engine with it. Then something major may break.
How do you know he didn't check before the video. How do you know the machine has a pre hear option. Nothing wrong with a cold start once and awhile. Not gonna kill a machine.. these old 8L are damn near indestructible
wow suddenly everyone's a diesel tech
No shit lol
😂😂😂😂👍👍

Lots of smoke which didn’t clear. Looks buggered to me
Did u preheated the machine??
LY ENGINEERING no preheat as it was sitting out in the field
If that's a 3408 DI, there are no glow plugs to preheat with..
@@midtiertom 3408pc if it's in a semi truck it comes with glow plugs.
@@michaelfreeland2791 call me whatever you want, but that does not look in any way like a truck.
@@Species5008 i said if that engine is in a semi it has glow plugs. Here I'll say this slow. So in the dozer it may come with glow plugs.

Using easy start on worn engine sounds horrendous and is the beginning of the end
If u say so, it got 10,000 plus hours since this vidya was taken

Please tell me your joking
Should have glow pluges
Um no, not spect with
Guess he doesn't know what glow plugs are for (assuming that vintage has them)
No glow plugs or preheat on this machine
sad to see abuse of good equipment
wellcoboy where was the abuse?
Abuse? It's a pre combustion engine. They clatter like that. He didn't over rev the engine. You all don't know about that engine.
@@450farmall2 I grew up wrenching on them. I don't need educated. Its cylinder knock. Not bearings it don't hurt anything.
