- This huge stone circle is largely a reconstruction with only a few original stones but is faithful to what is thought to be the original design. It dates from the Neolithic Period, between 4000 and 5000 years old, and is a Scheduled Ancient Monument. The Quoits were restored between 2002 and 2008, with stones which had been knocked over or had fallen over being re-uprighted, and the surrounding earthworks re-built, which has entrances to the east and west. Within lies a circle of 28 local conglomerate stones, the Quoits, with one off-set on the south side. The nearby village of Stanton Harcourt takes it’s name from the stone circle; Stan-tun, or “farmstead by the stones” and is now surrounded by gravel pits and landfill sites. However, its reconstruction is done well and can be visited. Nearby 70 mounds and earthworks existed, and wooden posts stood in the middle of the circle.

Something is missing, you can "feel" it, almost see it... Thank you, for the fly over.
When you are there, it feels off, a bit sour
Magical, thanks. Lots to see on British soil
Notice the circle to the ditch is bigger then the stone circle. Thus indicating it is a snake's head that got crushed by a heel. Also a the two ditches are like a circle within a circle, thus indicating the circle of life like the wheel on Ezekiel's vision of G0d.
Beautiful. I'd like to walk around it.
Unusual to see an octagonal structure ?
👍
wow looks like the embankment was where the public watched from, the ditch to let only the priests go too near the 'gods' landing in the middle!
