Because 12/3y = 4 3y = 3 ✕ y If 3y = 12, then you divide 12 by 3 to get the value of y. Same with x=6, you need to coordinates to make the straight line, so you give y the value of 0, 2x + 0 = 12, now you just do 12/2=x. Now you have (0,4) and (6,0) which when connected, makes a straight line.
