I thought the whole point of Superbad was to show how the teens like Jonah Hills character think sterotypical sexist stuff were were all conditioned to think. It never condons that behavior and instead shows a reality check for the main charters. It showed a very accurate depiction of how many cis highschool dudes talked and acted and it did a great job of showing us why that behavior is really cringe and immature. Since you brought up a movie featuring Michael Cera, this is the same with Scott Pilgrim vs the World. Part of the point of the comic book series/movie was that Scott could only date a high schooler because he had the emotional maturity of one. Literally nobody in his life respected him for it, aside from Steven Stills and Young Neil (self-conscious losers), and constantly made fun of him for it. Even with how in your face it was about that, people today still don't seem to get it 😅 Not sure if this was the case today, but it was VERY COMMON for older guys to date high schoolers in the 2000s, so it was pretty topical at the time. This sentiment cannot be logically applied to modern society and modern Conservatism due to the specific time periods the Conservative ideology started to form in its fullest, composed base. However, yes, both sides of which were Christian. I thought the whole point of Superbad was to show how the teens like Jonah Hills character think sterotypical sexist stuff were were all conditioned to think. It never condons that behavior and instead shows a reality check for the main charters. It showed a very accurate depiction of how many cis highschool dudes talked and acted and it did a great job of showing us why that behavior is really cringe and immature. When i think of that movie, its not Jonah Hills character being sexist = funny. Its cringey and the other characters reactions to him shows that. At least thats how i saw the movie.

Part of the point of the comic book series/movie was that Scott could only date a high schooler because he had the emotional maturity of one.

Not sure if this was the case today, but it was VERY COMMON for older guys to date high schoolers in the 2000s, so it was pretty topical at the time.
