While you can't generally separate art from commerce, the idea of canceling it if it hasn't taken off immediately just shows how things are getting worse, yes. This is a reason I switched majors from film and animation when I was in college, the culture around it was getting worse even 20 years ago. Video game crunch culture (I also studied video game programming, but the culture around it is terrible), etc., it's now all about making money for the shareholders and treating the people making the media like garbage. 33: 22 this is exactly what I was talking about with family regarding 'Bark Skins' (a show about the Indigenous and French colonizers relationships in new territory, Canada, circa 1830ish) being removed from Amazon. In my opinion, if you have a show that it is your original IP and is tagged as an Amazon, original, or other sorts of company's original, there is no reason for it to suddenly be removed. There is no reason for the show to suddenly stop working but yet still be showcased on the platform and there is no reason for the show to be tagged as an original for your platform. If it's not going to be on your platform. I have now watched. Probably the better part of 4 to 5 'Amazon original' ip shows that are now still listed on Amazon as Amazon originals or were listed online on Amazon show as an Amazon exclusive and yet cannot be found at all. When people say that streaming platforms are not creating lost content, they are lying. They are creating lost media by hosting a show and then not having that show be available on that platform. At least that's my opinion because it it shouldn't be this way

I'm still salty over Netflix only ordering six episodes for the final season of Umbrella Academy. With the budget and time slashed to pieces the end result was horrendous. And yes, all the one season and that's it isn't appealing to me. Especially when the creators were hoping for more. Netflix holding the material hostage doesn't make it better. Let me buy a DVD or blueray of Glass Onion, please, I won't subscribe every time I want to watch the movie, or series, especially when you just butcher everything that isn't your next big cash cow social phenomenon. It's obviously just a patch, not a true fix, but if nothing else, I think Netflix needs to change how it greenlights projects/presents them to the public, to give people a better time managing expectations. Like, openly label series with some new terminology that tells audiences whether "this show is so expensive, I need you to watch it within a month", "this show will get at least 2 seasons", etc. Have that be part of negotiations for shows: "If you're willing to take an X% reduction in budget, we'll lock in a second season." I think, similarly, they should put some effort into, if they don't want to break from their binge-model (which I think is a flawed choice, but so be it), they need to find another way to establish a better sense of a "schedule" for their shows. Break up the monthly content drop/shuffle over a week, with a different genre each day.

Netflix makes decent series, decent comiedies, only thing is they make to much. Sounds like a good problem to have but its so oversaturated that it takes a half hour to find something good. And now there doing half a season then you have to wait a couple months for the other half. Jist release the whole thing. Then they NEVER have enough seasons to finish the story. It always leavea on a cliff hanger only to be cancelled. I started watching the limited series. Usually 16 episodes with a beginning, middle, and an end. OH and different languages with subtitles.

I usually watch Netflix when i go donate platelets. You're in the chair for over an hour so they have screens for you to watch stuff and apparently multiple Netflix accounts for each donation center (correct me if I'm wrong on that one). Obviously you can't finish a series on that account, you aren't guaranteed the same chair when you come back. It sucks to learn that while I'm donating platelets, i might be contributing to the cancellation of a show because i watched less than half 😢

Netflix HAS given us some AMAZING animated movies like Nimona, Klaus and the forthcoming Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl. And we have gotten some amazing series like The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance and Castlevania. So I don’t think it’s right to generalize them. They HAVE given us some great, valuable stuff that we will be talking about for years to come.
