Oh yeah, we all remember that kid who's already fallen off the christianity wagon, then being that kid. It's so funny the pressure from your parents to just be christian cuz they are. Like I had to take a lutheran church class twice a week in 7th AND 8th grade, and in the class they're constantly telling you "don't do this if you don't really believe" and the whole time we're literally all (6-10 of us) looking at each other knowing our parents would disown us and maybe even kick us out if we said we didn't care about it and didn't wanna go through with it.
I just went and read an article about why and it kept insisting he said ‘didn’t use the slur directly referring to a specific person’ and I’m like…. Who you called a slur didn’t matter dude, it’s the use of the slur at all that’s a problem. You should be familiar with the rules around bigoted language as they were established because of the use against people like us….
I still find it hilarious that the first one is sooooo stupid because the entire thing starts with "for the purpose of this class, God is dead" and a student can't do that. And thats basically "for the purpose of this problem, ignore friction" and a student going "i refuse to ignore friction" which is ABSOLUTELY STUPID. The entire premise of the movie is about a student refusing to understand how to put something aside for a basic problem
I think the issue isn't that Josh was refusing to consider an opposing point of view, but rather that Hercules was requiring students to sign a statement of faith that they were atheists (or rather that God is Dead, but I'm not convinced the makers of the movie understood what Nietzche meant by that, so I'll just go with "atheists"). That would absolutely be a violation of their First Amendment rights as students of a public university and in the real world would have Professor Hercules hauled before the faculty dean to give an explanation of why the university is getting sued, but since God's Not Dead is a live action adaptation of a chain email sent by your racist aunt, he instead gets away with it for years until Josh's prayer gives the chalk the power to not break when dropped.

They had Dave agree to take the money but not acquiesce to the demands because republican voters have to believe that it's what their real life politicians do, too. The audience *won't* assume cutting the broadcast during a pause would be viewed as a hit piece because the audience doesn't think it's a hit piece when real life politicians get clipped to present a narrative. And no, it *wouldn't* be better for the villain to be smarter because it would confuse the target demographic of the movie.
That's actually a great insight into the target demo. I think that the people who support known liars tell themselves that the liars are fighting other, worse people so they feel better.

I’m definitely not the first person to say this and I won’t be the last, but it certainly betrays the bravado these films try to put on that they feel the need to constantly reiterate how God’s not dead rather than letting their first outing speak for itself.
Coulda maybe been interesting if he was running against a Republican in the primaries who was hypocritically using the name of God just to push a conservative world-view actually contrary to the compassionate teachings of Christ... Wonder why they didn't go that route? 🤔
As one of the *kids* who saw Gods not dead (the first one) in freaking theaters with my Christian middle school- this was the most cathartic video I’ve seen all week 😂. Sincerely, thank you
I love how often he uses a quick Always Sunny clip here and there! It’s still my favorite show and have watched it soooo many times over the years! It’s what I watch before bed every night 😂 Anyway my point is…. KEEP ROCKING BRO 🤟😝
As a Christian, there is just so much in this movie that pisses me off. The first and foremost being the age old victim complex that conservatives think they are being oppressed under-and the sad thing is that it’s extremely accurate. I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve been told basic human rights will turn our country into communist North Korea or whatever. Another thing that made me mad was the line from the trailer “I can either do what my faith tells me not to or I can lose this race” and there is just so much wrong with that line. As christians, our job is to be faithful to God first, not politics. If winning the race involved going against your faith, then you’re probably not doing what God wants, just saying. With that trailer line, I almost wondered if they were going to take a different route with the movie where Dave didn’t win the race but realized that he could make a difference in his own smaller community or something, but apparently that’s too cohesive of a plot for this 90-minute propaganda ad. Also, if like to mention I sincerely apologize on the behalf of all the Christian’s who both made this movie and just act like this in general. I promise you we aren’t all like that, and it makes me so upset that the loudest voice are the only ones heard. I don’t know if any of this long rant is coherent, I just really needed to scream into the void lol. Anyway great video, Pat. I hope you recover from the sheer amount of trauma that watching hours of conservative content brings.
I don't know if I've ever properly expressed this in the videos, but growing up around so many Christians I think that's what bothers me the most about these films. They're a bad representation of what billions of people believe in, and they hurt their credibility. I could write a better religious film in my sleep.
They made five of these movies about how the guy is surely alive and he hasn't appeared in the franchise once, even as a cameo? Starting to feel like they're playing Weekend At Bernies with his corpse
15:13 ok, in defense of the coffee thing, as an ex-vengelical, idk wtf it is about Protestants and coffee, but man everything they do seems to do revolve around coffee. Like coffee hour after a service is basically church part 2 - Semler even wrote a song called “Wanna Grab Some Coffee” to explain how Christians will try to lure you back in by evangelizing at you and shaming you for falling from the faith at your local Starbees. Kinda like Mormons and specialty soda, ya know, it’s like another 3rd space option that somehow has merged into Christian culture. The Protestant can’t truly ever be separated from his coffee, and the natural biproduct of that is that the evangelicals responsible for this film inevitably had to have at LEAST one coffee moment in this series. Is a weird, repetitive, dumb choice? Yes. Imo. Yes it is. However, I would like to suggest that this was a hilarious inevitability.
This was my first ever visit to this channel. My response? SUBSCRIBED! I laughed often. It's hard to get me to laugh because comedy isn't as intelligent as it used to be. This was informative and entertaining. Good job.
Wait, is it normal to pay around 19 to go to the theater now? I haven’t been in many years, but that’s crazy, especially for a “movie” like this. Glad I stopped going but I miss it sometimes
My normal theater is usually a little cheaper, I had to drive outside of the city to go to one in the suburbs. So I was shocked that it was $19. I’m an AMC A-List member though, so for most movies (literally every single movie I’ve tried except for this one) I can go see without paying more than the 25 per month A-List costs. Works out to breaking even with 2 movies per month.
omg I'm so here for The Candidate love! I watched it and Joe (1970) in the same week after seeing them both referenced in the book Nixonland by Richard Perlstein. What a pair of films to showcase Peter Boyle's range!
YES! I'm glad someone commented... It's probably my favorite political movie of all time, bar none. I think it perfectly summarizes the American political moment in a way that was relevant when it was made and is even more relevant now. Robert Redford being dreamy is a plus, but the thematic messaging cuts through regardless.
Thank you for staying sober through these movie reviews, I know that must take a lot of willpower lol XD I've been fascinated by these God's Not Dead movies since i first heard about them...not enough to actually watch them, but hearing the synopsis of them

Taking one for the team and appreciate it. My morbid fascination with these movie is far reaching but value my free time too much to spend even more of it doing something I like even less than going to work every morning.
I continue loving your funny, insightful work. Sadly, FIORELLO (1959), has lost its place in musical theatre, almost assuredly because Fiorello LaGuardia has also slipped away from the top of the great American politicos list, but FIORELLO has a terrific score, was the third Pulitzer Prize-wining musical, and the two of the ward heeler songs, "Politics and Poker" and "A Little Tix Box" are as good theatre songwriting gets. Just puttin' in a word for Bock and Harnick.
I guess the lesson is: take dirty money, christian nationalism is just a label like "racist", and ignore everything your opponent says. Really sounds like apologia for trumpism.
The "God's not the target, it's the country; God's just standing in their way" line sounds WAY too much like Trump's "They're not coming after me, they're coming after you, I'm just standing in your way." They really want viewers to conflate Trump and God.

I LITERALLY just finished watching the other video about the other 4 god's not dead. Like, 5 minutes ago. Is this proof god is real?
It's either God (Christian variety), fairies, Odin, or the ineffable will of the psychic ducks from Mars. Only time will tell
I think these movies show that a god does not exist, or if it does, it's a cruel one.
Chat is this real
Love that you mentioned "comedy without a net" 😂😂
If you want to talk about an actually good standup special now…
I like the idea that the stakes being raised each movie means that we may eventually get a God's Not Dead in Space.
I’m definitely not the first person to say this and I won’t be the last, but it certainly betrays the bravado these films try to put on that they feel the need to constantly reiterate how God’s not dead rather than letting their first outing speak for itself.
If this GAAAD thing isn't dead then why do we need to be reminded of it with an entire Hollywood franchise?!
Most unrealistic movie of the year, a Democrat has a strong chance of winning a congressional seat in Arkansas.
Coulda maybe been interesting if he was running against a Republican in the primaries who was hypocritically using the name of God just to push a conservative world-view actually contrary to the compassionate teachings of Christ... Wonder why they didn't go that route? 🤔
Can't wait for God's Not Dead 6 "One Nation Under God" where Dave becomes president and institutes christian theocracy.
As one of the *kids* who saw Gods not dead (the first one) in freaking theaters with my Christian middle school- this was the most cathartic video I’ve seen all week 😂. Sincerely, thank you
I love the IAS clips in this vid it's so funny. Love your content!!!!
The Burl Ives’ Rudolph reference right after the Preston Burke/Isaiah Washington reference just sent me into FULL orbit, dear GOD Patrick
hehe when a reference really hits, that's what we do it for
I love how often he uses a quick Always Sunny clip here and there! It’s still my favorite show and have watched it soooo many times over the years! It’s what I watch before bed every night 😂
Anyway my point is…. KEEP ROCKING BRO 🤟😝
Thank you for the Comedy Without a Net clip, that made me really happy
I'd go see gods not dead 6 with you pat
They made five of these movies about how the guy is surely alive and he hasn't appeared in the franchise once, even as a cameo? Starting to feel like they're playing Weekend At Bernies with his corpse
Wow, there's so many has-been celebrities in these movies, huh?
Seeing completely sloshed Pat ripping these movies apart would being me immense joy, ngl
Aw man, that sick Garfield Assassination joke really got me. Truly, Pat is on the cutting edge of topical comedy.
Jesus. Where do you live where just a ticket is $19?!
This was my first ever visit to this channel. My response? SUBSCRIBED! I laughed often. It's hard to get me to laugh because comedy isn't as intelligent as it used to be. This was informative and entertaining. Good job.
Watching this after the election is
I don’t have any words. Here come the camps
Wait, is it normal to pay around 19 to go to the theater now? I haven’t been in many years, but that’s crazy, especially for a “movie” like this. Glad I stopped going but I miss it sometimes
Depends on the theater. Bigg city theaters charge more.
Depends on where the theater is, when the showtime is, and who owns the theater
I think Pat said he's in Massachusetts, so yes on a non-discount night it's $19 bucks
@@freyja3120 Yeah I was being dumb, I didn’t think to just look up prices, it’s about the same here.
omg I'm so here for The Candidate love!
Robert Redford being dreamy is a plus, but the thematic messaging cuts through regardless.
getting an add for Pureflix on this video is quite funny.
the assassins musical clip got me
My favourite Sondheim. (Yeah, I said it, Sweeney Todd.)
Cant wait for your next video, kind Pat!
Master Not Taking the Baiter
Yeah, I hooted at that!
Thank you for staying sober through these movie reviews, I know that must take a lot of willpower lol XD I've been fascinated by these God's Not Dead movies since i first heard about them...not enough to actually watch them, but hearing the synopsis of them
The Campaign is an excellent movie that is extremely relevant today, Zach Galifianakis and Will Ferrell are amazing in it.
I love how he said master not taking the bater
Your friends may call you Pat, but I call you SAVAGE. 😎
The movie had an African-American make this bizarre brushing off the founding father’s owning slaves(no for real they did that) America has this weird thing with revisionist history
8:11 Let's not forget that Isaiah Washington was fired from Grey's Anatomy for calling actor T.R Knight (Who is openly gay) a f**g*t
He deserves everything he gets. Full stop.
Well I did not know that rip
Taking one for the team and appreciate it. My morbid fascination with these movie is far reaching but value my free time too much to spend even more of it doing something I like even less than going to work every morning.
Thank you.
Ray Wise was great when he played the Devil on Reaper, a TV comedy aired 2007-9.
Patrick’s a master not taking the baiter? I’m like, the opposite of that 😂
32:17 clip from assassins let’s goooooooo
"I go to the bathroom where I was born.".
So Little Timmy, were you a Prom Night Dumpster Baby??😢😅😊😮
I continue loving your funny, insightful work. Sadly, FIORELLO (1959), has lost its place in musical theatre, almost assuredly because Fiorello LaGuardia has also slipped away from the top of the great American politicos list, but FIORELLO has a terrific score, was the third Pulitzer Prize-wining musical, and the two of the ward heeler songs, "Politics and Poker" and "A Little Tix Box" are as good theatre songwriting gets. Just puttin' in a word for Bock and Harnick.
"I am a master not taking the baiter" sent me lmaooooo
I was not ready for a Challengers reference
I guess the lesson is: take dirty money, christian nationalism is just a label like "racist", and ignore everything your opponent says. Really sounds like apologia for trumpism.
The "God's not the target, it's the country; God's just standing in their way" line sounds WAY too much like Trump's "They're not coming after me, they're coming after you, I'm just standing in your way." They really want viewers to conflate Trump and God.
ConnorEatsPants fan 🙏. That Santos livestream was the funniest thing I have ever seen. Going from debating genocide to talking about shield pots in one sentence. It was art. Kino, even
18:32 I saw something truly magickal one day. Two young gentlemen attended the show and watched "Congratulations, Canada, on preserving your National Igloo" Mike (he really did say that) play bass for them in their spiffy new suits.
Stoned out of their minds and giggling the whole time in the front row where the producers worked overtime to not show them on screen
Its past 1am but who needs sleep
Eh, it's only 30 more minutes 😂
