Great to see you, Loyd! Because I only rarely run roads, been looking for a good road shoe that feels more like a trail shoe (that is, lower to the ground, stable, and not as bouncy). This is it! Definitely will have a place in my quiver for those days when the trails aren’t accessible or are impassable. Best to Liga!
I actually liked the length of laces, I always lock lace my shoe and often run out of lace. Lock lacing this shoe I still had a perfect amount of lace to double tie the lace. Feels amazing on, a great fitting shoe, totally agree with you, nice to have a shoe with a bit of ground feel, but does feel strange after all these years of max cushioning shoes. A refreshing feeling shoe.
If you are having trouble with heel lockdown and need to do a runners knot, then you would be happy that the laces are long. Personally, I use a runners knot on all my shoes - whether I need to or not. Thank you for the review 👍
Have you had a chance to look at the Tecton X3? I'm eying them up for my first Arc of Attrition next year. On paper they look great but maybe a little worried the stack if a bit much for that route. What do you think?
I’m trying to get hold of a pair to test out on the channel. Obviously it’s a deeply stacked shoe and the Arc route is quite technical in places. I’d say if you’re use to that type of shoe you should be fine but if you’re not, maybe go for something else. It’s also got a carbon plate in the midsole so it’s going to be stiff, not sure you need that for 100 miles 🤔
Bought a pair in my usual UK 11.5 (I’m normally a UK 11) but they’re so narrow and short (bought the wide version). Been an avid inov8 user for about 16 years and I’m just not feeling the new models at all. I’m holding out for the zero drop models and hopefully they’ll make something right for me 😊
I tried plenty of the Trailfly trying to get a good size. I found that the 10.5 was exactly same length (I measured the insoles) as the 10uk. You might find that the 12uk is a better fit. Something seems off about the Inov8 sizing though. It's definitely very short in length. But I think this might be intentional due to the anatomic footshape. The fact that the upper is so soft and squishy makes getting lockdown tricky.
I’m normally a uk9.5 and I’ve gone up to a Uk10 and they fit ok but I could have probably gone up to a uk10.5. I’ve had to go up a full size in some other INOV8 shoes, they definitely size small. Maybe a uk12 would fit better, you must have wide feet if you find the wide fit narrow! 🤔
I currently use Adios 8s and Cyclone 2s, but these look like my kind of shoe. I wish Innov8 would have a shoe in between the Trailfly and Mudtalon speed for all-round trail running purposes though
It's the most frustrating thing for me with inov8 ... all of their shoes are different sizes. The Trailfly G270 fit me true to size in US 11 but every other shoe I have from them I've had to go half to even a full size up which usually involves returning several pairs before finding what works.... kinda over it.
I think they needed a re-brand because the old logo could be a bit confusing. However, I’m not a fan of the new one, I think they could have done a better job 👍
@@Run4Adventure yeah I’m a branding consultant (and hopeless fellrunner). There’s definitely ways to have evolved the old brand and made the foot read better as an 8. I’ve spoke to Inov8 and that was one of the issues - people saying “inov”.
Seriously tempted to try a pair of these 👟
I was disappointed when Inov8 stopped making road running shoes, so this shoe has got my attention! 👍
Another solid review. Keep up the good work
Thank you 🙏🙂
A good description. Like to Run4adventure. Happy weekend.
Happy weekend Manuel 👍🙂

Even if you used a runners knot the laces would be way to long! You could pretty much lace both shoes with one lace 🤔
When smth is too long it's better than smth that is too short. Women will confirm.
Roadfly Max?!? I’m in! Really hope to see them tested here when they’re out!
Glad you said about sizing up, i thought they didn't have in the colour i like but they do now! Really looking forwqrd to trying these
I’d definitely go up at least half a size 👍
The perfect Hyrox shoe? Could well be for many reasons. May try some
These look a lot better in vibrant green/yellow compared to the NHS Black I’ve seen on other channels.
I totally agree, much better looking shoe in the bright yellow colour way 👍

Hard sell due to the minimal specs as opposed to 2024 offerings. Nice review 👌
I think some runners still want that more minimal feel to their road shoes but I know what you mean 👍
the new inov8 logo looks like a reaper scythe
I totally agree, that’s what I see when I look at it! 🤔

Been doing road shoes for years haven't they
They made road shoes years ago, I stocked them for a while in the shop. But they haven’t done any for a long time 👍
@Run4Adventure yes been a good while since seem them.. road claws wasn't it.. had a couple of pairs of them...
Who signs off laces like that?
I really don’t know! 🤷♂️
Better than laces that are too short and don't stay done up
"everyone will love them, they can double as skipping ropes" 😆 although yeah definitely prefer too long to too short.
It's a shame they moved away from their old logo, new branding is terrible imo...
A bit ‘middle isle of Aldi’. Very happy about the last shape they’re using though, so I’m ignoring the new logo. 😊
@@peakproofuk Exactly, look like knockoffs 🤣

I know they’ve got the Trailfly, but this could be a decent hard packed trail running shoe for warmer climates…?
Not really, there’s not a lot of lug on the bottom of the ROADFLY so you’d probably struggle for traction. The TRAILFLYS would do it a lot better 👍🙂
