Loyd, I appreciate your channel. As someone who recently completed their first marathon, you are one of the reasons running is no longer just exercise, but a lifestyle.
That’s great to hear and well done on completing your first marathon, first of many I recon! Really glad you’re enjoying the channel, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 🙏🙂
Amazing, what a stunning event, your usual enthusiasm and the colour you bring to your runs is fantastic. Could be another for the ToDo list. Thanks Loyd and Liga.
Thanks Stuart, glad you enjoyed the video! It was a stunning but tough day on the trails, you can’t help but be happy when you’re running in places like that 🙂
Did the original 3 day stage race a few years back and made an attempt at the 100 miler last year... its a tough ole place to play but oh so rewarding. Like you I loved being surprised by waterfalls and tunnels... truly epic playground, a great video and a top effort mate well done.
As somebody that knows these trails like the back of his hand at this point since I spend a couple of months here every year, I can say excellent work Loyd. These trails are no joke. I ran the „normal“ 60k route in 2023 and it was one of the toughest races I have done. I hope you come back to also see the Saas Valley sometime. We had a really tough year with terrible damage to roads and trails. Congrats again!
That was a truly epic run route Loyd!! A good job you had conditioned the legs chasing Liga around the mountains in Chamonix 👍 Some of those trails have just given my wife Mandy a heart attack!! She reckons she would have just frozen and needed rescuing lol 😆
The miles with Liga definitely paid off, especially on the final descent to the finish! There were some pretty challenging trails and you did feel quite exposed at times but the views made up for it 🏃♂️🏔️
Wow, Lloyd. I just did a 50 K race with only half of the elevation gain here in Colorado. I was totally crushed after that, can’t imagine doing a race like that. As you said, though ,it looked super inspiring and kind of carried you through. Nice work!
It was a tough day on the trails but you really couldn’t help but be inspired by all the incredible scenery! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 🙏🙂
Top Top vlog Loyd More like some Badass "level" from the next Tomb Raider, than a "run" ! 😁 Pity that initial "Stairway to heaven" was in darkness. Is there a longer "Wobbly bridge" on 🌏 ? Well done man Thanks for sharing Have a great day ☀️ 🐿
Cheers John, really glad you enjoyed the video. It would be great to climb that metal staircase in daylight, I’m sure it would be pretty spectacular 👍🙂
Haha, I did the 100K there last year. Especially the last 15k from Saas Fee in the night where tough. All my respect to the 100M runners that i overtook there. They were probably 35 hrs into there race and the trails were soo exposed. But the event is just soo nice! Hope Lizzy an Crew have less unfortunate conditions the next years!!
Great to see a race video , WELL worth the wait.,what a wonderful experience, I hope you have a wrist strap for your camera, thinking 1 bottle with the built in filter would be handy
Thanks Alan, glad you enjoyed it! I don’t use a wrist strap for the camera, that really wouldn’t work when you are running and filming. I’ve got a small handle for my GoPro and I just hold that. Obviously I’ve filmed 100’s of video now so I’m pretty well practiced but I’m still very careful when filming. As far as a filtered bottle goes, the water in the race is crystal clear and fast flowing so I don’t think that’s really needed in this particular race 🙂 Thanks for watching 🙏
Was good to see both in Chamonix and then join Lloyd for the race in Grachen. Yes this race was pretty tough and I felt terrible throughout...but scenery was sensational right through to the end. The altitude seemed to bring me almost to standstill, nearly didn't make one cutoff.
It sure was a tough day on the trails and I totally know what you mean by feeling like you were at a standstill! That’s exactly how I felt up the final part of the last climb 🥵
Just found your channel, what a amazing context you’ve got… you’ve totally inspired me to peel myself off the couch and start running again, This might sound a stupid question, could a 45 year old, 97kg start training and cross that line on UTMB,it’ll probably take 5/6 years hard training.. maybe to old for this… I do apologise,
Thanks Luke, glad you’re enjoying the content. Of course you’ve still got time to stand on the start line of UTMB. It will definitely take a bit of time to build up your training and distance. Also, it’s a tricky race to get into with the ballot. I actually saw a 75 year old man finish UTMB one year, so you’ve got plenty of time. Hope this help and hopefully see you in Chamonix one year 🙂
@@Run4Adventure Just back from a 10k run, slow and steady! Going to focus on building up my training & distance, Then start collecting the Stones & index l’ll need. Will aim for CCC then build on that, Got plenty of mountains 🏔️ to practises in Scotland. Hopefully see you in Chamonix one year. Thank you for the reply! 🏃♂️👍🏼
The regular race course is entirely different, but nonetheless also absolutely beautiful. It‘s 63k, so quite bit longer. The long section from Saas-Fee to the finish line in Grächen has no aid stations (well one, but only right before the finish) and will really test your limits. It did mine. It‘s a beautiful, technical race and also one of the most demanding ones one can take part in in Switzerland over this distance. I hope that helps.
Really glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching. Like the below comment said, the route we ran on the day was complete different to the original race route. The valley the race normally takes place in had been shut for safety reasons 👍

Thanks Michael, that’s very kind! Thanks for the support 🙏🙂
Absolutely breathtaking scenery...i showed this video to my wife and said we need to travel and do this trail. Her reply: "i would die" 😂
I’m sure she would be fine! It’s a beautiful place to run and definitely worth a visit 👍🙂
Loyd, you and Liga never fail to inspire! Really loving your Summer series and can’t wait for the rest. The mountains and trails there look epic.
Thanks Sandra, that’s very kind and I’m glad you’re enjoying the content! Thanks for watching 🙏🙂
Looks a great event well done 👏 I’m competing in the 170 km stage race next year can’t wait
That should be an awesome race Mark, I’d quite like to do it one day 👍🙂
Congrats sir loved your enthusiasm throughout this trail

Unreal Loyd that was one heck of a course. Super impressed with the running.

Cheers Manuel, have a fantastic weekend my friend 👍🙂
Well done 🎉
Amazing content as per
Thanks James, really glad you enjoyed the video 🙏🙂
Looks awsome mate.
It was a fantastic place to run Rob, awesome trails and stunning views! 🙂
what an amazing hard race!!
I'm doing the stage race next year 👍
Awesome routes! looking forward to it!
I’m sure you’ll love it! I’d quite like to do the stage race myself one day 🏃♂️🇨🇭
You should be so proud of yourself amazing race well done
Thanks very much 🙏🙂
Fabulous !
Well done!!! 🎉
Thanks Grant 🙏🙂
Amazing race Lloyd, well done 👍🏻, that made the black mountains 50 km race look like a Sunday run....and that race was hard for me.
Thanks very much 👍🙂
Very well done mate, good effort.
Thanks very much 🙏🙂

well done lad
Thanks Stephen 👍
Well done, Loyd! Wow...I can only imagine, I've run home a 49k with 3200 aprox (I do not think I could have done another 1000m)...
It was a lot of vert squeezed into 52k! Beautiful route though 🙂
That bridge looked terrifying 😮 what a beautiful trail ❤
It was slightly terrifying when you first stepped on to it but the further you went the more you got use to it 🙂

Looks like a very tough day at the office. A lot of elevation crammed into those kilometres. Well done 💪💪
Thanks very much! It was pretty tough but a stunning route 🙂
@@Run4Adventure I did the SwissPeaks 100 this year. That was also much tougher than running in the Chamonix Valley.
@@petraalma29 I bet it was! The Swiss don’t know what a switch back is, the trails are so steep 🙂
💪
What a route, would love to run it!
It really is an EPIC route! Well worth a vist 😃

@@lukescott8566 Nice one Luke, sounds like a plan! Just remember the mountains are a lot bigger in the Alps 😜
Great video. How much of the revised course was part of the original course? Looks like a race I need to do.

After 50k ultra x England I needed to do this one.
Consider UTMB Paraty Brasil in 2025. 58k with 3500m elevation.
Unfortunately Brazil is a long way away from Cornwall but I would love to visit there one day 👍
This looks just amazing 😮
