How to Copy or Clone Your SD Card | Retro Handhelds Tutorial

- All of these retro handhelds come with really bad SD cards. The community always recommend changing them for more reputable ones. This is how you copy or clone your micro SD card to better more reputable SDs like Samsung & Sandisk. This is a really good solution for someone who is not comfortable with flashing firmware and sourcing games and bios files. This will make a perfect copy of the stock sd card your device comes with. Its really easy and really only take time for the program to do its job.
Applications:
Backing Up Your Data. All those precious save files. Keep them somewhere safe!! Like your PC!
Clone your Stock SD. This is great for beginners and people who aren't comfortable with flashing firmware and sourcing games etc.
Cloning your Amazing Builds. If you put so much work into making an amazing build, why not share it with your friends?
Important Note: Not all SD Cards are created equal. Please make sure to check the sizes of the the SD card you are copying and the one your copying to.

The main reason why it shows a smaller size is because of the switching between the use of Gibibyte and Gigabyte. This is because one uses base 10 and the other uses base 12. Same size just different numbers. This need to be standardized to avoid all of the unnecessary rage this causes because people don't know this.

Second that. Tried to "clone" my 256gb Nintendo switch branded SD to a branded 512gb and it never booted. I just gave up

So here is my problem, the TF card contents won’t appear under its drive letter and you can’t access it. However you can view that the TF card has multiple partitions under disk management.

Do you have Google drive desktop app? If so exit the app if win32 won't open
Sometimes it helps to shut down explorer too
Hoping this works for non anberbic devices, trying to clone a perfected sd setup for the MagicX XU Mini M, as I intend on giving out 11 of them as Christmas gifts, and if I could avoid having to redo 2 days of work per handheld that would be great.
Can confirm trying to clone a 16gb to a 64gb limited my game file to the 16gb size. No dice.

Thanks! I dont recommend cloning for this. The cloning will always clone the entire card so for this situation its better to copy the folders individually

No its not possible. However you can clone the 64GB Anbernic Stock SD to another 64GB Sandisk or Samsung AND use the 256GB as TF2 and put more games on it. So its a win win

@turnbasedtoddy7664 Second SD needs to formated to FAT32 and then just put it into the handheld and turn it on. It will make folders for you. Then turn it off and you can put your games on it in the corresponding folders 📂

I want to clone multiple SD cards. Is it the same process as this, in terms of needing to call the file the same name, then just making sure each card is separated into an individual folder so they don't get mixed up? Or are different file names needed?
If i use a bigger micro SD card the more memory is unallocated and the partition for the games is the same size as the smaller SD card. Is there any way that i could allocate the memory to the games partition?
Will this work if the card has Knulli OS installed?

I did what you showed on the video with the 1st card, but I have 2 cards in my anbernic, the 2nd one with ROMs. Can I just copy and paste it to a new branded sd card?

Recently tried this with one of those gamesticks issue I'm running into is I copied the 64gb onto a Samsung 128gb but now when I try to move more games over to the new card it seems to be overwritten saying there's no space? Is there a way to fix this or is that a problem when copying am I just losing the extra space I have?

What if I want to clone an sd card into a sd card with a larger capacity in case I want to add more roms? I tried it and it did create the 64gb clone but it let an unallocated partition with the rest of the space.

How do you clone an OS card with multiple partitions that all come up as different devices in the win32 disk imager dropdown menu?
Just pick any one partition, and it will copy all of them. In the video, I copy the roms partition, but it will still read all of them.

I think I may have found a work around. Using Rufus to copy your SD card to a HD or destination storage, then use balenaEtcher to write the . iso file to your new SD card. iso file or . Img file 📁

Do you have enough space to hold the image?
i think this could happen if you check mark, read only allocated partitions.
Hiii i got sf2000, it stoped working after 5 mins of game play. I managed to save the contents on my pc just copy n paste a back up of roms n game's. I got sandisk 64gb, formatted it to ex fat format then copy pasted the back up files.
Is everything i am doing wrong?
Check the file system of the original sd card. Make sure its the same on the new one so you dont run into any issues
@JaviPlayRetro it was 34 gb no brand sd card. I am transferring to 64 gb sandisk. The file size in total was
14gb.
@Amlamekvids what im saying is if your coping the file make sure the new sd card file sysytem matches the old sd card. If its FAT32 make sure new one is FAT32. If its ExFAT make sure new one is ExFAT
@JaviPlayRetro ohhhh noooooo, there is a difference.... cheap a*s sd card isn't reading anymore. I am gonna rewrite my sandisk and try. Its on exfat now
@JaviPlayRetro if I use the software that you recommend and flash it. But the original file to flash is in my D: drive can I write it to .img n flash it to new sd card? Will that work?
