When going to Miami USA it’s not the police that you would go to to find places to clean. We have in the USA there are social services that help people that may need help. Unfortunately every state has different services they are not the same. It’s best to contact the city clerk office to find out the local services that may have people in help. Thanks for sharing your talents in helping others.

    Hello Auri.
Once you're in Florida, you could also let hospitals know about your services.
Sometimes elderly people cannot be released, back into their homes, because of the condition.
They end up in nursing homes.
It wouldn't be a breach of confidentiality because you could leave your business card and the family would contact you directly. ❤

yes this, Social workers, hospitals or even therapist/doctors offices. I personally wouldn't ask the police because they might very well be involved with some people who suffer depression etc. but they are much more likely to know of people who suffer from mental illness + substance abuse. And people who are addicted to substances ofc should get help and they deserve to live in a clean home - but I would be worried about potential risks.

You're so right about not wanting to ask for help. About 20 yrs ago I was in a major depression from ending a relationship and losing a very lucrative job. I just sat around and didn't notice how bad my house was. My sister and Mother came over and said "don't be embarrassed, we're here to help, no judgement". They helped me clean the house (it was really bad) and after that I started to feel a lot better. My Mom passed away this year and I keep my house spotless for her, because she was so kind about helping me with no judgement. Keep up the good work!

In the US, social services are normally provided by the county in which a person lives. In Miami, you might try contacting the Miami-Dade County Agency on Aging, which coordinates services for elderly residents. They might know of an elderly person who needs assistance with an especially dirty home.

I agree it's a very good idea to help elderly people. Or she can also contact social services and ask if they know any struggling single mothers who might need help. I just hope she avoids cleaning for dysfunctional families for her own safety, I've heard it can be pretty bad in the US in some parts of your cities, especially in black and Mexican families, there seems to be a lot of violence and substance abuse, or use of guns, something I have never seen in Europe.

I can't do much elbow grease because i have hEDS and it's worst in my arms and hands. I have a couple gadgets that were not so expensive, a $32 convertible stick vac/hand vac and the $40 steamshot that i clean the fridge with. Otherwise specialized cleaning chemicals really help a lot, versus dish soap on a rag which is what i used to use for almost everything. My favorite product is method all purpose spray. It works so well on almost everything and I just get specific cleaners for more difficult areas like the oven and toilet. Car detailing spray is another one that surprised me, it destroys car grime.
My other favorite thing is no rinse floor cleaner. A lot of pro cleaners use it so there are a bunch of affordable options in gallon jugs, or you can just get a $5 bottle of generic spray mop liquid at Wally world. All this stuff makes my life so much easier. I can have clean spaces with way less pain and effort. It used to be too hard.

Local social services county offices would know if they have any elderly that have notices to clean or be condemned (meaning they board up the house for good=elderly will be homeless). There are many of these in the US! Please check with the Florida county social services offices for any elderly on notice that need cleaning help 😊 Also Adult protective services would have homes that could use help (that is who gets called when elderly or disabled are living in poor conditions.

Excited to hear you're coming to the USA! I'm sure there are many folks that need help in Florida. Yes, generally our homes are larger. Some are absolutely, disgustingly massive. However, most of our kitchens and bathrooms aren't the wet rooms you're used to cleaning. You can't just wash, scrape, scrub, and then hose the whole thing down. Wet rooms here, like the bathrooms and kitchens you have in Finland, are considered a high-end luxury.
    Some other basic tips:
if you're going to rent a van, be sure it has air conditioning. It's very hot and humid in Florida. I understand that you don't mind bugs, but there are things in some places in Florida (like snakes, even exotics that have been let loose, Iguanas, Alligators, and all kinds of other things you may find there that you don't in the EU. Just saying). Also, not all spiders can just be left alone. If you're here in the "winter" (not like your winter), you'll have to watch for Iguanas falling out of the trees because they're too cold to hold on.
Also, there are fish that crawl across roads in some places to get to a pond with food. Pretty cool to see.
We also have just as many hoarding issues in the US as you do in Finland and elsewhere.
Also, Florida is a huge state. Matter of fact, most of our states are almost the size of some EU countries! For example, it takes an entire day (12+ hours) to drive across some states, like Texas. In half that time, we drove from France, to Geneva, then to Gruyere, back to Geneva for an event, and then back into France. The first time our friends from France came to visit, they were shocked at how big states in the US are. They couldn't believe it took more than 2 hours to drive from the Portland airport to the campsite in Washington state. 2 hours from their home would get you well into Spain or Switzerland.
Pack for hot and humid weather. Also rain. Depending on when you're coming, it may be hurricane season. It's just about over now, but come spring there are storms, and Sept though Nov is hurricane season.
If you have a chance, you must go to an "all you can eat" buffet. It's shocking.
Florida is sub-tropical, so pack bug spray. The mosquitos are enormous. Oh, and pack clear nail polish because everywhere in the southern US has chiggers. (google it)
There are many really fun things to do besides Disney and Epcot. So much rich heritage of all kinds ... Mexican, Cuban, Hattian, Creole, the list goes on. However, don't take a swamp tour without a guide. People have released all kinds of exotic pets into the wild, including very dangerously venomous exotic snakes. Good thing that Dade County has the only comprehensive envenomation 911 resource in the entire US.
I don't at ALL mean to try to scare you, but you need to be prepared because most foreign visitors are woefully unprepared.

Some areas don't yet have a FOGO bin in the house so we can put food scraps and even tissues in it. Most of Australia would have the garden waste bin. @AlexBsSecret 11 месяцев назад +9

yeah, the drains in the bathrooms (and in some countries even in kitchens) are absolutely amazing, no idea why the rest of the world doesn't built houses like this, all bathrooms should also be at least semi-wet rooms, so you wouldn't have to be careful to get water on your walls or the floor, cleaning would be 1000% easier.

@@AlexBsSecretYES! First time I saw a RUclips video of a "cleaning routine" from a US person I almost fainted... everything in the bathroom was cleaned with wet rags and sanitizing wipes 😖. That is ok if you just want to do a quick touch up to an already clean restroom, but if its dirty? Man then I need a proper drain and for the whole floor to be tiled cause you bet I'm going to literally wash the whole restroom with soap, water and disinfectant the same way Auri does! There is no reason to have floors or walls that cannot get wet in a bathroom. American houses are very pretty but they are buildt like luxury shacks...its all wood, plaster and fantasies. I'd rather have concrete or brick walls and floors.

Aurikatariina to the rescue again. ❤ It is so comforting coming home to a clean house and sleeping under clean bedding. So satisfying. William is living in a studio apartment where the bed is in the living room. Perhaps a hide-a-bed couch would work better.
When I have a depression episode, I may.not have cleaned my home as well as usual, especially in the
bathroom or kitchen, but I never throw food or trash on the floor, tables or counters. Perhaps a 55-gallon trash can would be helpful for these people's homes.
It takes little effort to carry trash bags to the curb for pickup once a week. My fridge is cleaned out once a month to make room for fresh fruits and vegetables.
What I do not do is exercise and that is something I used to do daily, and it made me feel good physically and mentally. I need to force myself to start doing it again even if judt for a walk.
My cats never go without food and clean water daily as well as their litter boxes scooped twice a day. It is not their fault I have anxiety and depressionbissues. When I cry they crawl on me to comfort me. Such good cats.
I wish America recycled more than it does. What a waste of resources. (sigh) America is so wasteful.

Unfortunately homes like this have more damaged caused by the resident that the landlord has to deal with. Auri showed this on a previous video where the tenants trashed the house 'Elizabeth' had built with her husband, then lied about the damage and Elizabeth the owner couldn't get any compensation. Also 'Grace' from a recent video who clearly lied to Auri and continued to lie through their text exchange. People like this are manipulative and use their often made up sad stories to try and make others feel bad for them and do their work for them. In this video with 'William', I am glad Auri talks about the landlord but they have a right to know that their property is being so disrespected and potentially badly damaged. Also I am autistic with ADHD and have experienced depression and anxiety very badly, but from my work for over ten years in this area, I see people like Grace and William fall in to two categories: one is those who genuinely want to improve themselves and put systems in place to help them be organized, clean etc. Then the other group is those who are all victim mentality oh my life is sooo hard you don't understand and they lie and manipulate to get people to solve their problems for them, like cleaning a home at the last minute before a rental inspection. I had a good friend like this and had to end the friendship because she was so manipulative and her stories were always elaborate and dramatic. When Auri reads the emails from the people in her videos, sometimes I hear the same kind of manipulative tactics my 'friend' used to do. I do believe there are people in Auri's videos who want to get better but they have to take the first step rather than hide under their blanket because it's all 'too hard'.

Amazing clean up after such short notice, and just in one day too! I hope William can keep the place in order now you've done all that work. He sent you a lovely message so I have a feeling this is a new start for him. I hope the landlord was impressed too!

Auri, you are always such an inspiration! I know I've been paying closer attention to cleaning thanks to you! I've recently spent a week at my friend's house. While I was there, I secretly cleaned her mirrors because they were murky with dust. I know it's better to look at yourself in a clean mirror. I think I did a funny thing, but at the same time I know it's a good harmless thing as well. :D

Don't be helping people on the US living like this with children. Call social services IMMEDIATELY

I think she knows, she seem really kind, knowing she does these for free so I think she’d have that same kindness to get help

I can’t wait to see how you handle homes in America. Y’all have spiders over there. We have roaches. And when a person has a filthy house they typically have roaches. And that’s not a problem you can just solve overnight. I’d love to see what you do in a roach infested filthy home.

Good point! Also, Auri won’t be able to just hose the bathrooms since there isn’t floor drains like in Finland.
