Russia is now a pariah state , they used to be feared & respected and now they are laughed at by the world and are on the same level as N. Korea, Iran and Syria, a colony of China. A handful of obsolete 30 year old NATO weapons in the hands of the poorest country in Europe is all it took, not the 3.5 million active duty NATO troops and their modern weapons, aircraft & navies.
Oh the Russian people know about this because it’s all over the various propaganda shows and the Russian military bloggers are pretty incredulous about this entire thing and the non-response response!!
You are just making russian propaganda! Russia was supposed to win in 3day. Now the war has been going on 2,5 years. Russia promised to win with regular army and now they are using everybody, who they can recruit, even foreigners. You should learn something from that all!
Thanks to the failed border crossing towards Kharkiv earlier this year, Ukraine is now allowed to use Western weapons on Russian territory. That creates the following problems for Russia: 1) Suddenly, literally suddenly, the Russians have to protect an additional 500 - 600 km of front. From now on, the Ukrainians will also occasionally "take a look" at other places in Russia. Ukraine has had to station many troops there for more than two years, now the Russians too. The frontline before the 6th of August was probably 1500 km or so, now the Russians have to dilute the same soldiers over 2100 km. But if you assume that the Dnipro is not as strongly defended and possibly even some of the other defenses are so strong, that not a lot of soldiers are required, the dilution is probably a factor of 50% (600 km “moving” front becomes 1200 km moving front). 2) The Russians have already shown in recent days that they are taking very poorly prepared counter-actions. This costs the Russians a lot of people and equipment. Because a mixture of hastily relocated brigades has arrived in the area, communication is chaotic. Rybar reports that even their own troops have come under fire. This is expected to become less chaotic in the coming weeks, but the Russians are showing in Donetsk Oblast and on the left bank of the Dnipro how you can waste people in Meatwaves. 3) Because the Kremlin is in a panic, it will, for example, focus the use of glide bombs mainly on the Ukrainians in Kursk. The Ukrainians will be able to set up their trenches, foxholes and fortifications largely in forests, which means that dropping those horrible glide bombs will also cost fewer Ukrainians lives than it does now in the east. 4) The F16 is here! I don't know, but extra Russian bombers could easily fall out of the sky because they are now blindly sending them to get the Ukrainians out of there, and they are taking too many risks. 5) Ukraine has deployed a great deal of equipment for modern warfare in this invasion. They are jamming Russian communications, they have a great many drones with their pilots in the area, they have brought the latest electronic countermeasures. All because UA knew in advance that the Russians are going to do everything they can to recapture the area. So instead of trying to protect 1500 km of front electronically (and there were many gaps in that), you now only have to concentrate on about 50 km of new front line. 6) The location of the border crossing is extremely well chosen. From Sudza there are mainly star-shaped local / provincial roads to the outside. The Ukrainians will have to block those roads in particular. Initially, the Russians will drive in columns behind each other on these roads as before and then be slaughtered. 7) Politically it could go in all directions. More support for Putin, less support for Putin or even a coup against the kleptocrats in the Kremlin. The West sees the fighting spirit of the Ukrainians, but also sees: Geman tanks are advancing towards Kursk (again). Kursk could indeed be a bargaining chip. All in all, I think it's mainly a military success. And yes, many Ukrainian soldiers will also lose their lives, but it could easily be 20 dead or captured Russians per single Ukrainian casualty. Ukraine really needs such a ratio to wear Russia down.
I took the times for 15 years to about 5 years ago. After a conversation I brought one today…it was more like the radio times than a serious paper.Just writing about what they have read on the internet with no a journalism being done…
Question: if a military strike targets, a nuclear power plant and results in a Chernobyl type catastrophe, is that considered a nuclear strike worthy of a nuclear retaliation?
No one seems to be mentioning that, unlike the russian tactics, Ukraine isn’t destroying every village, town & piece of civilian infrastructure in their path or murdering innocent civilians & pillaging their homes
I think Ukraine is giving Putin two poor choices. 1 Keep his army in Ukraine and Ukraine will stay in Kursk. 2 Withdraw his army from Ukraine and use it to retake Kursk
It doesn’t matter what the situation was in the past, otherwise we could redraw the map of the year 1800, 1500, 1000 or maybe 500? What matters is the situation right before an active war. In this case we can go back to 2013, before the invasion of Crimea. After a war, the situation is settled, there is peace, and claims of other territories are not valid anymore. If everyone would keep looking back to a random point in history, there would be infinite war.

@@ivancandotti3954 Wars in which both sides lose are quite common. The Iraq-Iran War of 1980 to 1988 is one prominent recent example with many similarities to the Russian Invasion of Ukraine. Perhaps you could enlighten us with your vision of the outcome of this war which you would regard as a victory for Russia? And no, I do not foresee victory for Ukraine - it is too late for that. But clearly survival, recovery and continued membership of the community of nations.
Wait for more "expert" bamboozlement when Ukraine responds to Russian counteroffensive with their new flying toys.
They didn’t get that many flying toys. They will be useful but will not change the war. Compared to what NATO has, these were just leftovers, about to be replaced by newer toys anyway. Leftovers and ammunition is about all NATO is prepared to give.
Btw, behind the scenes it is being said that it is 44 villages already and not only 28!
Sounds like a PR move than strategic one.
If it gets Putin in trouble, then one and the same
Putin is calling this, “terrorism,” because of Russian laws, which allow him to retain control of the situation, rather than handing control over to an exhausted, demoralised Russian army. That’s not just Putin’s startling hypocrisy, but a legal technicality.
He calls it Terrorism to prevent him from having to declare war. It's a stalling tactic. To keep him relevant. If he declares war even the de-politicized Russian population are going to become restive and wonder why he took them into a war. Shades of the Great War. It's in their collective consciousness and he is terrified to go there. He is ducking and diving.
If you want read my comment @mlo3805. I try to lay out what this is about and why the Ukrainians are doing it.
It doesn’t matter what he calls it, Putin is not in control here, Ukraine is.

@@ivancandotti3954 If Russia was going to win this war they would have years ago. Russia has already lost, this was supposed to be a 3 week war so the Russian elites could loot Ukraine, it had absolutely nothing to do with their security and it’s turned out to be the biggest military blunder in modern history.
Putin the Great 🤡🙈 said how dare these terrorists invade my country....😂😂😂🤪🤪😜😜🤥🤥 it doesn't make Communist sence 😂😂
You are just making russian propaganda! Russia was supposed to win in 3day. Now the war has been going on 2,5 years. Russia promised to win with regular army and now they are using everybody, who they can recruit, even foreigners. You should learn something from that all!
This is real talk Russia as become BLUSSIA
Thanks to the failed border crossing towards Kharkiv earlier this year, Ukraine is now allowed to use Western weapons on Russian territory. That creates the following problems for Russia:
1) Suddenly, literally suddenly, the Russians have to protect an additional 500 - 600 km of front.
Thoughtful commentary. Thanks for this contrib to the discussion.
Should take Transnistria and give it back to Moldova. Then Georgia should start warming up their engines too.
