Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for the worst fighters that made you work for the misfortune of playing as them. Our countdown of the worst unlockable characters in fighting games includes Pichu from “Super Smash Bros. If you have to work to unlock a wrestler in a game, it should be someone like Andre The Giant, Ultimate Warrior, maybe Bray Wyatt. But Fred f**king Durst?
Fred Durst should have been unlocked when you win your first match as the Undertaker.. See, no complaints.. You can still have unlockable celebrities without making them the focus of the game and just have them as a not necessary to have in the game to advance..

Many people actually come to Pichu's defense in Smash. Why? Because Pichu's smaller size also means a smaller hitbox, making it easier to dodge attacks.
Pichu was tone down and he takes damages from his own powers..

Pichu has gotten a LOT better since Melee-check him out in Ultimate!
Mokap gets way too much unnecessary hate. He's also an obvious homage to the motion capture artist of the MK games, Carlos Pesina.
Nowadays, they're Replace by DLC/Season Pass Characters.

In some ways, I don't mind. It depends. Fighting games are probably not the biggest releases these days, so if they need paid DLCs in order to financially justify new games, I'm ok with it. It is a business, after all. Costs a lot of money to make games, and I wouldn't invest money into games myself if the profits didn't outweigh the risks.
Buuuuuut it annoyed me so much with Tekken 7 that a bunch of the standard legacy characters were locked behind paywalls! I'd much rather have them add paid GUEST characters, and not the standard legacy characters like Lei. Instead, add characters like Sylvester Stallone, Kiryu, Predator, or whoever else. People will pay for those characters, and it'll allow everyone to enjoy the legacy characters. (Note: I am also only talking about the common ones. The ones you expect to be in every game. If they bring back the dinosaur from Tekken 3 or something, then sure... People can pay for it.)
I would prefer everything being included in the game, but people and companies are investing their money into creating games, and its understandable that they want to be compensated and have the profits make up for the huge risk of investing millions of USD. Also, my thoughts here only goes for fighting games IF it is a genre that struggles with making enough profits to justify their investments.
Pichu was at least tweaked in Ultimate so he still takes damage when using electrical attacks, but does more damage than Pikachu does with the same moves as a tradeoff
And Pichu in Ultimate is pretty scary despite being a glass cannon. I have gotten my ass handed to me online by several Pichus.
I never favor Mokap, but I actually like his inclusion in the animated movie, Mortal Kombat Legends Cage Match. In that movie, he’s Johnny Cage’s assistant, friend, and played a major role. To me, that’s impressive.
They should bring mokap in for mk2

6. Thankfully, Pichu got a total upgrade in Smash Ultimate. Now, his attacks get progressively stronger the more damage he takes.
3. What kind of MK Character doesn't use fatalities?! And no, I'm not just referring to CPU fighters, which almost never know how to use them.

Remember when we had to work hard to get characters and cosmetics? We used to get the things we want just by playing the game or completing certain challenges.
Nowadays, you have to pay $10 or more for a great fighter or costume!
I played Fred durst mainly for his entrance and to challenge myself.
He should’ve been in def jam FFNY as a cameo fighter

Makes you wonder what they were thinking when they made Pichu a fighter in Smash Bros., especially when they brought it back in Ultimate.
They thought they could use another cute Pokemon alongside Pikachu.
I wanna go back to the days where I could unlock a character buy doing certain tasks or requirements.

Fred Durst was also playable in the Fight Club video game. Imagine if they allowed Gandhi and William Shatner to be playable characters.

Hsien Ko Marvel Vs Capcom 3 Fate Of 2 Worlds (2011) Loved Her In Darkstalkers but was the wrong character for the game John Talbain or Donovan Baine were more suitable than her
I actually made it to giga bowser for the first and only time with pichu! I didn’t win but it still made me proud!

Hercule/Mr Satan's appeal is the comedy he brings in, his moves are hilarious, especially the one with the exploding Gameboy, and the Miracle Bomber where he does damage by accidentally smashing his noggin against the enemy's.

The only reason Roll is a bad fighter is that she wasn't built to fight, she was built to clean.
Nearly 27 years later, and I've still got no freaking idea how on earth to best utilise Dr Boskonovitch in any mode of Tekken 3 🤦🏻♂️
Fred Durst making a deal to get himself in a video game is such a chad move.
Think Mojo missed the point that a lot of these joke characters are for veteran players to give them another challenge to beat the game or other players while basically giving themselves a handicap on purpose
I'd rather have terrible characters you can unlock just by playing than good characters you have to unlock with micro transactions

Geno, Scorpion (Mortal Kombat), Knuckles as an echo fighter, Kratos, Crash Bandicoot, and Master Chief should have been in Smash Bros.

I used to kick ass with Doctor B. My friends and I would always play team battles. I'd always put him second. Man, I'd knock out two or three opponents with that flopping old fart. They'd be down to their best characters and they'd still have to beat Gun Jack or Kuma before they got to my anchors.
Boskonovitch is one of the best player character in Tekken series...shame on mojoplays if they can't use him. Oh and the right choice was Gon

Dr. B had recycled moves but they came out in different combinations than the other fighters and was very unpredictable. I could do some damage with him.
The real fight against Fred Durst is when youre in a Sega Dreamcast sweepstakes, where you have to fight against fred durst himself in an MMA fighter on the Dreamcast. And if you win, you get a fred durst signed standard white dreamcast, its actually a holy grail to this day because only 4-5 of them are known to exist from this sweepstakes

William Bordin and every other character can be unlocked with the Unlock All cheat code in Urban Reign". So there isn't much of a problem getting him.
Doesn't make him good but there's not much effort to unlocking him the cheatsy way.
And if you give him max stats he becomes somewhat better even if his moveset very much holds him back.
The fact that DOCTOR B. Is on this list and not GON, is fucking wild to me.
Bosconovitch is actually a beast if you know how to play him.

It would’ve been cool if Stan Lee were playable in MSH vs. SF's versions that are overseas from Japan.
@@KenMasters. The reason why Stan Lee wasn't playable was cause he's not a fictional character. He's a real life person, Norimaro was not a real life person, he's a fiction character who was based on a real life person kinda like Big Bear/Raiden from Fatal Fury who was a fictional wrestler based on a real wrestler (Big Van Vader). Capcom doesn't allow real life people in their games unless it's based on event or is historical such as the case with Onimusha where historical figure like Yagyu Jubei could be included.
Pichu hurting itself is a reference to one of its Pokédex entries, stating that it can't store electricity properly and will shock itself.

I loved unlocking Fred in Just Bring it back in the day. You wanna know the worst characters to unlock in wrestling games? 90% of the unlockable characters in WCW Nitro and WCW Thunder for Ps1.
Dr B was not horrible. You are missing "Meat" from Mortal Kombat. He took alot to unlock and was a huge let down.
DR. Bosconovitch is actually pretty good imo. Me and my friends and fun picking him because he could be tricky to hit when he lays on the ground, and his tazer was also pretty fun. Mr Satan is actually pretty fun to play as

The only reason Fred Durst is a playable character in Smackdown is because he wouldn't let WWE use the Unddertaker's theme "Rollin'" in the game unless he was a playable character.

Forgot the Servbot from Marvel Vs. Capcom 2. Fun to play sometimes for a challenge but he has to be the weakest and shortest range character ever made.
I know this is a different type of game to compare to, but one that comes to mind that really seemed lame to unlock was Diablo in FF8. Like I know he's easier when you level up to beat, and once you level him up, he was awesome! But when you first get that lamp, it's hard to not wanna use. And he's so devastating at first, and then when you finally beat him, it's like, "Hold on, why is he so dame weak now?!"
When somebody gets beaten by Dan Hibiki, it’s an utterly embarrassing moment.
PICHU damages himself with every attack. Plus his lightweight makes him too easy to launch.

My best friend as a kid had Tekken 3 and unlocked both Dr Bosconovich and Gon. We both preferred playing as Gon.
I had Marvel vs Capcom 2 and unlocked everyone, including Roll, but I barely ever played as her for all your reasons listed. I'd rather play as Servbot for the amusement factor at least.
Roll was actually a great fighter in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.

I like his moves in armeagedon plus his music in 4(which is a combination of raidens speech, character and tower selects and the game over)
