    I was touched when she said,"I am helping you because you want to help "my people"! What a wonderful way to show you care unselfishly. I was hoping there are more Christine out there. Let's all be kind to one another.

    Thank you for making this informative and moving video. I've read about the camps but have never gotten such an inside look at life inside them. I admire the strength and perseverance of the Karen people through years of difficulty. I pray that God keep them strong and bring them justice, freedom, peace, and prosperity. I also wish the best for Christine and her family and the old lady. Thank you for sharing their story.

    Can you please update about Christine, 'Aung San' (her husband) and Peace Sunday?
    Christine has a lovely, smiling demeanour - great attitude.
    Have they been placed (accepted) by a third country like the US, Canada and UK yet?
    I wish Christine, her family and all the refugees well.

    This refugees camp is more better than the one we had in Nan, Thailand 1975 to 1979. I was so lucky due to i fought NV communist side by side CIA, my dad fought Vietminh in Dienbienphou with the French side. 1977 i went to France and got my citizenship over there, 1990 i got visa to come to installation in USA so my life is out off danger.

    Hi, this question might sound stupid. But I can't find any recent information anywhere else. After the military took over here is it still possible to visit Mae La? And if it is, do you need to have a contact person there before you go? Or can you simply just get there yourself from Tak or Mae Sot?
    I would like to visit Mae La, Noh Poe and Baan don yang in Sangkhlaburi. But I have no idea if there are any new restrictions now with the new government?
    Thanks for all serious replies.

    • @okazerk
      @okazerk  10 лет назад

      Dear Jens, It is harder now to get into the camp. There is an army post every 200 m along the camp fences. If you want to get in, you need contact (as before)... AND you need more than ever an authorization from the authorities... Many regards. Alain

    Will this camp be safe to travel there and is this camp near mea hong son? I am going near there this summer and I would love to go to this camp?

    • @okazerk
      @okazerk  10 лет назад

      Camp is north of Mae Sot. Mae Hong Son is 8 hours by bus then pick up bus. If it is safe? .. Passing in front of the camp is one thing. Going inside for helping is another. What is your plan for helping there? I'm sure you'll be welcome giving some help there. But can't visit without contacts and appointments with refugees and precise goal. They don't want to risk for themselves just to bring a tourist in.. Some zones are controlled by guards and must be avoided.

    The "Lady under arrest" 's situation is very bad. She is now on the way to demency due to pain of her jaws and worries. Someone from South Africa proposed to help her, via Christine, but the person didn't help and didn't give any news. The woman needs dentures so as to be able to eat. The woman asks every time to Christine why they don't help her. Christine now feels embarrassment every time she passes in front of the lady's house.

    WHEN BUDDHA, CHRISTIANS AND MUSLIMS STAY TOGETHER IN ONE CAMP
    The only refugee camp built by a Mosque, Church and Pagoda
    Opening an old video of the Mae La Refugee Camp in Northern Thailand, a camp of 50,000 people consisting of Shan, Buddhist and Christian Karen people and there is a small community of Muslims in this camp of ethnic Bamar and Ta'ang whose faces resemble Rohingya. And they are both oppressed people, from this video we draw the conclusion that not all Myanmar Buddhists hate Muslims but only a small group of Buddhists who support the military junta Ashin Wirathu.

    I known life in the refugees camp in north est of Thailand. Thailand have a good policy under UN for refugees but some people they hire to work as guard with the refugees camp were so inhuman, out law, corruption, rap and thieves. UN got a bunch money for refugees but Thailand gov take all, they buy some cheap vegetable, sardine, dirty rice mix rock for the refugees in the camp. Before 1975, Thailand was very poor, but after 1975 Thailand was better due to thieve UN money for refugees.
