I had a RUclips channel a few years ago. “Excursion Diversion”. But it took so much to edit that I wasn’t enjoying our travels so I bailed on it. Plus I wasn’t very good at editing! All the best to you. May 2025 bring you joy and success!
I’m sorry to hear you had a set back. Glad things are looking up. I’m excited you found some new channels for inspiration. I’m away with my family this week and I’m struggling to find time to make content for next week’s video but I’m hoping to pull it together. Editing takes a lot of time but I really enjoy the creative storytelling side of it. I struggle the most with wanting to make something creative and something informative. I’m still trying to strike that balance. I’m definitely constantly learning and pushing myself out of my comfort zone. If you have any suggestions for videos you would like to see let me know. @@JanElizabethLakey Some other creators I follow are "the Unexpected Gypsy" and "Valerie Lin", both artists. I love watching others create art, decorate their space, or beautiful travels. I also would welcome a video regarding usage of different art mediums and pros/cons/preferences.

@@JanElizabethLakey I paint in acrylics 99.5% of the time. I own oils, but have only done 1 or 2 small paintings, due to some time restraints, there is no time to just "play" and learn oils. Maybe in the new year, that should be one of my goals, to practice in oil and learn technique. I have a little set of tube gouache but don't really use it! I also try watercolors but not lately. I tried painting Plein Air with acrylics but they just dry too quickly both on the palette and on the canvas/panel, and painting outside has a whole other level of complications I don't necessary need to add to my plate.
My surfaces are either canvas, hardboard or wood, each has it's advantages. I like the smoothness of hardboard and wood but sometimes the varnish pools oddly, so I've learned to use only spray varnish on wood/hardboard. I like canvas for size and it looks nice in a floating frame.
If I am traveling, I'll just do some journalling with gouache or watercolors, haven't done that much yet though. I'm curious what types of paints you gravitate towards and the pros and cons of each,
