The third dress, the sheer floral, is definitely the oldest, probably 1930, since the length of dresses dropped soon after that, and the overall look still has a feeling of the late twenties. It's my favorite. The way the side flounces on the skirt move, is magic, and that movement so suits you. Great fun!

Those were thoughtful gifts. I have an old friend from uni who seems to have the special talent of finding gifts that are perfect for the recipient. For my last birthday, she sent an indoor grill, the large scissors used in Korea to cut meat for Korean BBQ as well as her favorite marinade for the meats. I had been watching a ridiculous number of videos about Korean food for a several months prior to that gift arriving, yet never told her about that new interest. I will treasure it as I do all of her so thoughtful gifts. What's particularly funny is that she lives in Hawaii and I live in Texas, but she still knows me better than people who see me far more often. Your gifts for Julie struck me as equally perfect for her. Well done.

What a fun 1930’s little fashion show! The last velvet number with the matching coat is really quite spectacular! If you truly intend to wear these amazing finds, might I suggest getting a pair of nude character shoes or T-strap character shoes, as they are not only fabulous dance shoes with very manageable heel heights, but they have a very strong 1900’s - 1930’s vibe. I think they will look amazing with all of the dresses. If you can splash some cash for a pair in black too, your summer and winter “vintage-looking” shoe wardrobe would be near complete! 🥰
To take it to the next level for the 1930’s, I imagine a very thinly defined eyebrow, mascara on only the upper lashes and a deep red or berry lipstick... oh, and a hairdo that started from pin curls or finger waves to really complete the look! Have so much fun styling and wearing your vintage dresses! 😍🥰😍

Oh my! It's so hard to decide! I love them all and they can be worn for so many various events!!!! I love your white dress with the ribbon tie and your red velvet coat. For your white dress, you could have the seamstress fix the holes and leave them 'open'!!! I've seen so many people in today's society with the sleeves open in the arm for a decorative look! No 5 is beautiful for a dinner party. No 1 would be nice for a dinner or party or fir a nice afternoon luncheon! Your 3rd dress is splendid for a picnic, shopping day out, a walk around town or on the beach! So many various ways you can wear these and places! Also, you could even wear a long sleeve blouse under done of the sleeveless dresses, etc! So versatile!!!!! I love ALL 3 necklaces together for No 5!!! Love them! And pearls, just go with everything! Casual to dressy! Love all of the looks and accessories! Great finds! I love the 30's, 50's, 60's! I love hats, too!

It was gorgeous and so pretty on you Julie. Although all the dresses look wonderful on you. Honestly you could be a model--you're tall and wear your clothes really well. The other dress I loved was the last one with the patterned bodice and velvet skirt. So lovely, especially with the beautiful velvet coat. Julie,
My favorite era in fashion design: Clothing (wedding gowns), gloves, shoes, belts, hats, hat pins, hair combs, bags, etc., is also, the 1930s. Not only is it my favorite era in clothing design, but in art deco jewelry, silverware/flatware, silver serving trays, tea & coffee pots, sugar & creamer,s furniture, and of course, architecture design as well. The intricate creativity to detail in the 1930s is incomparable to anything since. I am looking forward to seeing your vintage dresses again, once they have been fully repaired. Hopefully, the cranberry velvet dress and coat will be restored by the Christmas holiday. That would be so perfect for caroling on the grounds of your estate or in the village after Christmas Eve Service. I can picture it all now!

Good tip for wooden dollypegs, over time they open up (spring). This means they don't hold the washing as well, they aldo get dirty with time. Throw the pegs into the sink with washimg up liquid and agitate to clean, rinse and leave to air dry. Holds washing secure again and stops dirty marks , where its been hung. Love your video.

@@dia9491 Agree. I sew, and if Julie's tailor is amenable, it could be an interesting video to feature an explanation of the approach to repairing a vintage piece including techniques and materials then a demo of how some of it is done. Of course a before and after would be lovely. It could bring in new business for her tailor as many people find lovely vintage pieces but have no idea about repairs. I learned to hand sew as a child and have studied numerous hand and machine sewing techniques and fabrics as a hobby as an adult. I'm looking forward to sewing more in retirement.

Loved seeing your vintage dresses. I can't wait to see the ones needing repair afterwards.
I am a huge fan of the 30's and 40's clothes and hair styles as well. Thanks for sharing!

You look lovely in all the dresses but loved the last one and the coat as strong colours suit you.

This was wonderful! I loved the delicate floral “slip dress” as well as the long floral silk dress. You have the perfect figure for these vintage clothes. I’m a bit over 5’11’’ so I fear dresses from this era would be up over my knees, lol! And, I imagine they don’t have much of a hem. I just love your fashion sense! You don’t have to spend thousands of dollars on clothes and jewelry to look like a “million bucks”. Thank you! 🌸🌸

I'm 5'10" and have broad shoulders, so vintage dresses simply don't fit me. However, there have been a number of vintage styles redrafted for modern measurements and released as new patterns in recent years. You could find fabric that would work for the vintage styles and have a nice collection made-to-measure. I have made my own garments for years, but I'm so busy that when I commit the time it's typically for a special project that is difficult to find in my size like Julie's vintage velvet dress and coat. I literally have velvet in that color waiting to be made into an evening coat.

These are my favorite era clothes also . Several years ago I learned my Ancestor (10 th Great Grandmother ) was Anne Marbury Hutchinson making me that much more obsessed with English history .

You are so pretty in all of the dresses but I absolutely loved the velvet and over coat. I love the flabber dresses of the 1920's but I have never had one on. 🙂

How did I miss this video!?! I love Vintage Clothing too!! My favourite Period starts a teeny bit before yours, as I’ve always loved Victorian/Edwardian era clothing, as well as the 20’s & 30’s too. I also adore Art Deco jewelry. There’s just something about the clean lines & designs that makes my heart happy. I also adore & collect Cameos. I always feel like I’m wearing a Portrait when I wear one of them. Now, if there’s one thing I learned from following/being a great admirer of Princess Diana is this : Pearls go w/everything!! 😁. I have pale Pink Pearl Tear Drops hanging from a Silver Bow Earrings that I’ve been known to pair w/everything from a pair of jeans & a sweater to a very formal outfit for a Wedding. IMO they go w/everything, so why not!?!
My favourite outfit you showed was w/out a doubt the final one. I LOVE that style!! The fact Empire Waisted Dresses really flatter me too could have something to do w/it. One of my favourite dresses Diana wore was of a similar idea. The top portion was a Creamy White w/cuffs on the sleeves, but the skirt portion was Peach. It would still be in style today come to think of it. Sigh...So many of my Semi Formal Dresses for Jr High School & High School Events were takeoffs of Dresses of hers. Thank Goodness my Mom was a talented Seamstress. 😊
I think I’ve babbled enough & also just got an alert that one of the Channels I follow. She calls her Channel Lady Rebecca Fashions, I think, the Lady Rebecca part is right. Anyway, she makes a lot of Period Clothing. Mostly in the late Victorian/Edwardian eras. She also makes some Cosplay things as well. For instance, she & a bunch of her Friends who also are both Clothing/Costumers & Barbie Collectors, decided to choose a Holiday Barbie & recreate the Gown for a Convention they were all attending close to the Holidays a few years ago. Her gown was gorgeous!!! She’s been on an American Girl Doll Costume kick of late. She just finished one a couple of weeks ago & has started work on another one. Anyway, if you’re interested in any of that, you should check her out.
I might have an actual Cosplay Costume that I, my Mom, my late Dad & a Cousin all were working on at one point to get it done in time for a Lord of the Rings Convention I attended in 2006. It’s what’s known as Arwen’s Red Dress &, If I do say so myself, is pretty close to the original. I know the People who ran the Costuming Workshop at that Event were blown away by how close we got to the actual thing. Wish I could wear it more often than just for Halloween, but hopefully I’ll get to another Convention again someday.
On that note....I do need to get going. Thanks again for showing off these Dresses. I’d love to see more of your Vintage Wardrobe. Oh!! One last thing...I swear!! Another channel I know you’d love is called Swish Vintage Finds For Your... I can’t remember the rest of the name of the channel, but that much should let you find it. Anyway, it’s a store in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada run by two Ladies who, obviously, sell Vintage Clothing, Jewelry, Bags, Shoes, Etc.... They also how various Vintage looks can be updated to today & I love the ideas they share....And the Clothing. 😁
On that note...I am now DONE!! Aren’t you glad? 😁. Take Care!! 😊
